Hi! 50 y/o (but I'm a young looking 50!) recently diagnosed with Peyronie's like many of you. I'm struggling. I don't know how this happened or how it got so bad so quickly. I noticed an indentation in July 2022 before sex and it was a bit of a struggle that night. I made an appointment to see a urologist the next day. Leading up to this I was starting to have trouble getting hard in any situation - sex or solo.  I knew something was wrong.

By the time I got my appointment, I had about a 30% curve. Painful erections that woke me up at night. I was prescribed pentox - once's day then increased to twice a day. In December 2022 I had my first Xiaflex treatment because my doctor said I'd be a good candidate and that my curve was not so bad. After the 28 days of abstinence, sex was not really an option. I got hard during sleep but once I was aware of it, it didn't last long. Plus to be honest I was afraid.  I feel like I saw no improvement after round 1 and my curve may have even gotten worse. Still struggled to relieve myself by getting hard to j/o.

It's now February 2023 and today I finished my second round of xiaflex. The pain was so intense both days of this cycle. Today, I was screaming and crying in agony in the office. The doc said that I felt so much pain today because he was able to get the injection right in the center of my plaque which apparently was like a rock. Because of my reaction, he said that he is concerned about putting me thru more pain with future rounds and that I should maybe consider surgery. Just seems like a big jump from a not so bad curve to now considering surgery. I don't want to lose size or girth and fear permanent damage if something goes wrong in surgery.

I pray that Xiaflex will work. I worry that with all of the negative reviews of Xiaflex, though, I may have made a mistake. Looking to hear from someone who's had positive experiences. Is a restorex worth it? Will things get better?

I hope the Xiaflex works. But please be careful about surgeries to remove the plac and/or correct the curve. Both surgeries can shrink and disfigure your penis. My surgeon lied to me, telling me I would have increased girth and not lose length after the Nesbit surgery.
I later got an implant, but wish I had skipped the Nesbit and had the implant to start.
I know it's a big leap, but I am convinced that corrective surgeries other than an implant usually don't work.
Read some of the journals of people who had surgeries and then implants, and the overall feeling is disappointment prior to the implant.

Thanks for your reply. What was recovery time for implant? Forgive the ignorance of this question but does the tip remain soft and does that impact sensitivity or make out harder to orgasm? Do you feel the implant all day?

You need to do hours of traction and use a VED every day. These are much better treatments, specially when combined with Xiaflex. Only after a year or two doing traction and VED then consider surgery.

You should fill out your signature on your profile so we can get your info.  The standard course of treatment before xiaflex is pentox and cialis.  I have about 20-25 degree left curve and used to have painful erections.  Since starting cialis about 4 months ago my pain is gone and the curve has remained stable for now.  I've read too many negative reviews on xiaflex and probably won't ever do it.  The fact that it improves the curve an average of 30% to me is not worth it.  So I would go from maybe 30 degrees to 20 degrees, not worth it.

Also, after xiaflex you are supposed to use the restorex device to model the plaque.  I would buy a restorex device now and start using.  Good luck
