I am supposed to undergo a surgery to fix the
congenital penis curvature issue.
In my case, the curvature is in 3 different planes (left, downwards, and rotating). I live in a country with top-notch urological surgeons who specialise in these things, and after consulting with one, he told me that the curvature is very severe and complex, and that the surgical procedure is to shorten the longer side with proper geometrical principles.
A different approach would be to incise the shortened side and then reconstruct it using biomaterial grafts, thus elongating the entire penis itself, but in my case this isn't possible due to the complex nature of the curvature.
Some side effects he mentioned is possible numbing of the tip of the penis for some time, due to them having to probably cut a nerve or two, and due to them having to perform a circumcision.
I have a few questions that I didn't thought of asking at the time of the checkup, and I'll ask the doctor as well, but asking here just in case anybody else can answer...:
1. This is different than the tucking procedure (plication), right? He mentioned something about self-absorbing stitches, but nothing about permanent stitches.
2. Is circumcision necessary? And if so, what kind... total or just partial? Also, what are your experiences with circumcision? Obviously I read some horror stories, and how people would have liked to have not done it, but also others saying that their sensation didn't change much
3. How long after the surgery does the loss of sensation in the glans last? Weeks, months, years...?Also, does the loss of sensation happen because of circumcision, or because of them cutting up some nerves, or because of both reasons?
4. What's the general recovery period after the surgery? After how long can you start walking, and when can you start exercising, and when can you start having sex?
Thanks up front for any answers
