Is erosion a realistic concern or a low risk?
« on: January 05, 2022, 09:27:09 PM »

I don't have an implant yet but I'm strongly considering it down the road, due to pills losing satisfaction and efficacy. I'm 32 years old.

I'd been feeling very hopeful and at peace over my Erectile Dysfunction due to the "ace in the hole" of an implant. However, I read a couple of forum posts and now have some anxiety recently over the concern of: Will I "wear my penis out" - specifically erosion/atrophy from the implant.

Let's say I need 4-5 total surgeries. Let's also say I don't get infected from any of them. Although I know it's a possibility, even with revisions, I know that with a high-volume surgeon the risk is still around 1% or lower, and that's low enough for me to sleep at night. What I'm referring to is, does the penis or tunica albuginea erode or atrophy to a point of no return from years of a 3-piece implant? Or is that not a realistic concern? I know it CAN happen if the implant is oversized or a man leaves it inflated hours upon hours, day after day. But is there anything about the implant that inherently causes atrophy/erosion of the tunica with regular/responsible use (say, daily cycling/sex less than 2 hours total).

Secondarily, if there were to be erosion or atrophy, what can be done surgically to repair the penis so that function can continue? I just want to reassure myself that even if "crap hits the fan", something can usually be done.

From emailing a high-volume surgeon, I understand the risk to be very low of erosion actually happening and was told that basically, if a man has a penis, an implant can 99.9% of the time be placed.

Honestly, I'm really just here looking for some reassurance that the idea that someday my penis will just fall apart and an implant won't even give me an erection anymore, is not a practical worry that I need to shoulder. I'm not ready to get an implant yet, but the fact that it's available has given me so much hope. Sometimes I let things get in my head and I worry needlessly, admittedly, and need a reality check from wiser men.

Thanks, guys.

Erosion is very uncommon with a three-piece implant because the tissue is NOT under constant tension as it is with a1 piece semi-rigid malleable implant.

Certainly, NO ONE on this forum ever had the slightest indication of erosion.

Are there members on the forum that got their implant in their 20s and are still active now?

No Westerntown,  Most people move on after getting through recovery unless they have an issue or need a revision.  The younger they are the more common that is.  It would not matter however because all of them would only have had an implant for 10 years or less.  You want someone who got an implant in their 20's who is currently in their 60's and it is doubtful if that person exists anywhere on earth.

I was thinking the same thing, since i think this website was only created in 2004 anyways.

Honestly it is crazy how screwed this new generation is when it comes to penile health. Lowest testosterone numbers of any generation ever, and lots of porn on social media to really curb real natural stimuli. Were basically all having sex with our own right hand and not even realizing it

Westertown, that’s exactly right. This generation lives the most sedentary lives ever on human history on their mobile phones or at desk jobs. We know that is a risk factor for Erectile Dysfunction. Moreover the vast expansion of pornography and ability to see millions of women naked has desensitized us men in this generation. That is not how its supposed to work for a man to get a good strong erection.

Imagine an era without an internet where your sex drive and libido would be so high the first time you set eyes on a naked woman.  Since it would be the first time you saw her kind , you know. Not like today where every single website , heck even instagram is filled with t*ts and a$$.  This has caused over stimulation and  wrecked havoc with our bodies.
