Hi all - I am Jason 40 from the UK, joined a little while ago and now feel up to joining the debate!

I have been diagnosed with Peyronies around a year ago after devloping plaque and a significant curve in my penis shortly after having a circumcision (due to a developing a tight foreskin) - my urologist has strongly advised there is absoltely no conection between the two things but interested in any views - i did have complications (infection, heavy bruising/swelling and have developed a very ragged scar line).

I now have some large plaque areas in a couple of places on my penis which now bends about 50 degrees to the left about an inch up from the base, i have also lost significant length and girth (above the plaque, girth below the plaque has remained same or actually increased!).  I can achieve erections still though they aren't as strong as previously.

I have ultrasound tests, MRI scan with induced erection (Doppler test?) to confirm the diagnosis, my urologist has discussed surgery and reccommended the nesbit procedure however i have opted to try a less invasive route and I am now commencing VED therapy (tho am having some problems but will post these in the right area).  I have also been prescribed Cialis which seems to improve erections.  I haven't been prescribed any other medication and am interested in some of the posts on the forum which reccommend a number of non prescription and prescription drugs.

With regards insurance we are fortunate in the UK to have the National Health service however they wouldn't stretch (pardon the pun) to paying for the Vaccumm device which i have purchased myself though all lother treatment has been covered.

Pschological effects are taking their toll - I am married with a young family and me and my wife have had many issues since the onset of the disease, i will add that most (if not all) of the issues have been generated by me rather than my wife - she has been very supportive, i have withdrawn in to my shell in response which i know isnt helping!

Take care all, i welcome advice and will post my VED issues in that thread.

Don't expect your doctor to admit a mistake. Not him and not any other doctor will admit.
While erect, is the skin of your penis more tight on the left side? If yes, the reason may be the circumcision that made the skin shorter on this side.
I agree with you the before getting to Nesbit, you should try other treatment. Doctors like to cut, it gives them experience.
In my opinion, VED (carefully not to over-pump), Pentox, low dose Cialis and Ubiquinol may help revers the symptoms.

Thanks for the quick reply James.

The skin isnt so tight as to cause the bend but it is a very ragged scar line - looks like it was done with a rusty chainsaw rather than a scalpel! I had an infection in the sutured area due to the sutures not dissolving correctly and also due to a blead in the recovery area which was quickly re sutured!

I am trying the VED but have come accross some issues - posted in the VED forum area.

I have not been offered Pentox - do any UK members know if it is prescribed in the UK there appears to be evidence of some success on here with it.  I will google ubiquinol now as not heard of that either - but i am still new here.

Thanks again for your help - great to know you are not alone with this disease!

Hi Jason. My story is similar to yours. I developed phimosis (tight foreskin) due to another disorder (bxo) and opted for a circumcision once other treatments were unsuccessful. I had some problems after the op, and ended up with heavy bruising/swelling and urethral scarring (due to botched catheterisation). Shortly after I developed a lump which led to my diagnosis of peyronie's. I asked my old uro if the circumcision or associated problems could have attributed to the peyronie's, to which he vehemently denied. However my new uro believes it could have been the initial trigger, but said it's impossible to know whether or not I would have gone on to develop the disease anyway.

My uro refused me pentox, not because the NHS don't prescribe it, but because I have issues with stomach ulcers. It's worth printing off some of the studies listed on this site, to show your uro. And if they still don't want to give you a NHS script, you can ask for a private prescription where you foot the bill of the relatively inexpensive drug. If you get a private script you can go through your local pharmacy rather than dodgy online deals.

Hi James - apologies if it was a similar post, I will thoroughly read the forum.  I have read the rules just didn't realise it was similar apologies again it's down to me being new.  The questions I posed were very important to me and probably the main thing i need help with but i will check through as the answers must be there, the site is already a massive help which i am grateful for.

Hi Welshwales - thanks for your comments, indeed our stories seem very similar the urologist who suggested circumcision stated BXO on my notes too.  I asked a different urologist if he though the peyronies and the circumcision could be linked (the peyronies developed while i was recovering from the circ) he said possibly and reffered me to a more experienced urologist - the more experienced urologist was initially quite dimissive and unhelpful when i suggested the circ could have caused this, he became more amiable and has since helped a lot since i backed off on this suggestion - currently i have decided not to progress this aspect as i feel it may affect the treatment I recieve but i am interested in others views such as yours.

I will definately do as you suggest and look at the Pentox studies on the site.
