Hey all,

New here and did make a post introducing myself.
I've come to the point where I think I'll definitely go for surgery.
The two procedures that have caught my eye, are the STAGE procedure by Dr. 'Franklin Kuehhas' and the 'Corporal Rotation' by Dr. Osama Shaeer.
They both seem like safe and effective techniques from what I've seen with minimal/nil complications arising.
I'll provide links if you haven't seen them.

If anyone has had any experience with these doctors, or knows a bit more than I do, feel free to share!
Also, I got quoted for the STAGE operation being just under 8000 Euros! Serious dough. But sex is an important part of life lets face it, and if I feel like this is the one thing holding me back really, I'd be stupid not to go for an effective treatment right?
I'm only 18 so I'm hoping tackling the issue now while I'm still young is the best decision to make.

Hi Johnis. I suppose STAGE operation is around 5000 Euros, at least it was around what i paid. I know the STAGE technique and both Doctors who develop it. Also my curvature was corrected with it. About corporal rotation i've talked with a doctor here in my country that uses it, so far with good results, but im not well informed about the technical aspects of the technique. Yes both seem safe. The choice is up to you, considering the type of curvature you have, the expertise of the doctor and what to expect of both techniques. Lets not talk about money because this is a sensible issue and only we know how it affects us. 1 year after the surgery im very very happy, with no complications or recurrence, in some way im a new person. Study, be patient, talk to doctors, save money (if thsts the case) and go ahead with confidence.

Thanks for the info keepitstraight.
I recently just got quoted 7500 Euros for the procedure (incl. hospital stay + meds) and a few hundred more for the initial consultation. So that might explain the price.
Glad to hear that the surgeries are indeed safe and you're happy with your results.
I feel as if it's the one thing weighing me down; I'm happy with my looks otherwise except for this little problem.
I might go for Dr. Kuehhas purely as many on this site have given good recommendations and I'd rather pay a bit more and get it done right the first and only time.

Just a question or two, do you notice it all, the results of the surgery I mean, in both a physical sense and appearance wise; do the scars disappear, and does your member actually feel different? (aside from the straightness of course)

Johnis having a straight penis gives you more sex security and confidence. A slight/minor curve might be no problem but when starts to get exagerated you loose penile stability in penetration and that gets you a bit anxious of performance, specially in certain positions. That also starts to interfer with your mind and withouth a "healthy" mind you loose erections easilly no mather if you are young or older.. If my penis feels different? Well he certainly had to adapt to the new shape internally but i think he's quite happy with that :-) But my mind is way more peaceful and confident. I actually noticed a slight improve in erections, something i was not expecting at first, but is a very nice bonus. Well scars are scars right? Some are barely noticed but others are more visible but in no way interfere with sexual performance. Actually the only scar visible is the one of the circuncision nothing more, so nothing problematic at all. Good Luck and positive mind. Everything will be fine!

I wouldn't have an issue if it was a minor curve but 40-50 degrees is just too much. Regardless of whether other people like it or not, it isn't going to matter if I can't accept it, I've noticed erection quality has been poorer the last few months as it has been on my mind constantly.
That's good to hear! Definitely a relief, actually this is a question that I can't really seem to find an answer for; are circumcisions mandatory for a lot of these operations? It sure doesn't seem like it

If circuncision is mandatory? Im not sure about it, just asking the doctor. Generally a circuncision is done but you might try to debate this with the doctor and hear is opinion. In my case i already had done a circuncision some years ago. There might be logical reasons to do a circuncision in this type of procedures/surgeries but im not fully informed why. For me is not a problem at all.

Both of these surgeries require de-gloving. I do not consider that to be minimally invasive. Honestly, do you want your penis skinned? There are less invasive surgeries. I had penoscrotal plication which required one 2cm incision. My down time was minimal, my pain was minimal, my surgery was minimal, but my results were maximum. I realize I am biased in my opinion, but I would look closely before I agreed to do what you are contemplating. I did. That is why I chose the route I took. And circumcision was not required.

I'm keeping my mind open it still won't be for a year at least until I get serious about getting surgery, so I'm always interested to hear about other options.
I have downwards/ventral curvature, aside from that my penis is healthy enough, but according to the measurements I did it's around 60 degrees. So what you're saying is I could have a congenital curvature repaired by a surgery as simple sounding as penoscrotal?

I'm just curious as I have heard barely anything about it, but it sounds to me like it is indeed the safest and least invasive procedure so far. No circumcision is a huge plus, but what about the sutures, are they visible or can be felt? Is the penis stable and firm enough now it is straightened?

Thanks for me letting me know though, if you have the time, I'd love to hear a bit more about this surgery, such as any info on reputable doctors performing it, and its costs!

Unfortunately, I know of only one doctor performing this surgery. It is Dr. Allen Morey at UTSW Medical Center in Dallas, Tx. Perhaps by the time you are ready, there will be others. His approach is much like any other plication surgery for Peyronies Disease or for CC. They place a number of sutures on the tunica of the long side of the curve so as to force the penis to erect straight. The difference is, he does not de-glove(skin) the penis to do so. He says that the outer penile skin is made to stretch. If it were not stretchy, erections would rip us apart. So, he is able to place those sutures through a 2cm incision in the outer skin by simply stretching that incision around as needed. The result is a straight penis with only a 2cm incision to heal. Where the incision is made depends on where the curve is. My curve was left, behind the glans. So my incision was right, behind the glans. Not being circumcised only gives him even more stretchy skin to work with. The scar has had an added benefit in that now, the foreskin wants to ride in a retracted state, behind the glans. It is like I had a loose circumcision without having to be circumcised. I got the best of both worlds. I cannot say it would be the same for everyone, but it has been the case for me. I do feel the sutures. There is a row of pronounced ridges on the right side of my shaft. He says that eventually that will become less pronounced. You cannot see them, but you can feel them. Is that a problem? Not in the least. My wife does not feel them during sex nor do I. Only by manually feeling for them can you detect them. I cannot speak to the expense yet as I have not received my insurance statement for the surgery. I only had to make a co-pay to the doctor of $40 and a deductible to the surgery center for $700. I will know what the totals were after I receive my statement. I will post those results for all to see. As I have posted here before, this surgery was the answer for me. My situation dictated that it was time for surgery, but I could not fathom having my penis skinned to perform it. Luckily, the surgeon I found was also close to me. 350 miles is fairly close in Texas. I am not advocating surgery for everyone. But if you are ready for surgery, then I strongly implore you to seek out a doctor that performs this type of surgery. After six weeks, I am almost normal, with the promise that time will only make things better.

So from what you'd say this procedure is as effective as others such as the modified nesbit etc., which involve degloving of the penis? I'm just curious as to whether this penoscrotal surgery actually offers the same permanent straightness and 'structural strength' ahaha as other options such as the STAGE procedure.
Are the sutures used absorable?

And I'm not sure if you had peyronies or congenital curvature but would this sort of surgery still be applicable for ventral congenital curvature such as in my case.

Sorry for the abundance of questions, it's just I'm trying to explore all my options and become as knowledgeable as possible, and the surgery you undertook sounds very appealing when stacked up against some of the more invasive procedures.

I guess all I really want to come out of this with, is a permanently straight and strong penis, with no fears of it curving/breaking later on; I want it to function well so I'm wary about anything with significant Erectile Dysfunction risks, and lastly a huge bonus would be little visible sign of such a procedure (e.g, visually protruding sutures, distinctly visible scars and so on.
I would Kill for a normal looking, straight and functioning penis. We all really take things for granted and don't understand how stuff like this can affect a man, even if the issue seems minor.

What has drawn me to the STAGE procedure in particular is it's low risk of complications, and its effectiveness, due to it being a relatively modern, and constantly refined technique. I'm wondering if this peno-scrotal surgery is also similar in the sense of it being a carefully thought out and complex, but safe process.

There really are only two basic types of surgery. One is an excision and graft where they remove the damaged area and graft in new tissue to replace it. The other is plication where the long side of the curve is cinched up to match the short side. This new Stage technique may be a third type, but keeps elements of the other two. Mine was a plication surgery. The difference is in how they gain access to the area to be plicated. In most types, they de-glove the penis to gain access to the area to be plicated. These surgeries may have different names, but are essentially the same. In the case of my doctor, he makes some basic assumptions: 1) he can manipulate the skin around the incision to achieve the same result as those other de-gloving techniques without so much trauma to the penis and, 2) that the patient with the crooked penis won't mind a 2cm scar somewhere on his penis if it is straight. The sutures are the same non-dissolving sutures used in any plication. They are intended to stay for as long as you need to use your penis for sex. My penis looks good to me. I can feel the sutures, but they are not visible. My penis is very near straight with a small lump around the incision area. It looks no worse than most men's penises. We all have some degree of bumps, lumps and discoloration naturally. I can tell you that it has done wonders for my self esteem. Where I was very careful to keep my wife from seeing me naked, now, I am quite proud to show it off. I have called her into the shower several times to do a close up inspection of the healing process. Dare I say, I am quite proud of it and very willing to show it. Time will tell if it lasts until I no longer need it. But I can tell you this much. I wish I had had the surgery sooner, as soon as they would operate. The only cut was a 2cm incision. I could even have it reversed if I had reason to. That is how safe it is. If you have decided that surgery is for you, then I encourage you to go for it. Try to find a surgeon that will perform this type surgery as it is so non-invasive. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best. I wish you to have an outcome as good as mine.

Norm your info is not complete is not that basic. There are several techniques used inserted in 5 basic approaches:

- Excision and Graft
- Incision and Graft (Example: Egydio Technique)
- Excision and plication (Examples: Stage Technique; Modified Nesbitt; Original Nesbitt,..)
- Incision and plication (Yachia Technique, Levine TAP Technique,...)
- Nonincisional and Nonexcisional plication (Corpora Rotation Technique; Tom Lue 16 Dot technique,...)

Only the first two are lenghtening approaches, the others are shortening approaches (not counting the rotation technique). They can use absorbable and non absorbable sutures, they can opt to deglove or not deglove. Besides this you have to take in consideration whats the type of curvature (Dorsal, Ventral, Biplanar, complex including shaft rotation, if it is Peyronies, congenital, degree...). Why? Correction a curvature on the dorsal side is not the same as correcting through the ventral side. Ventrally you have the Corpus Spongosium and Urethra, dorsally you have the most important Neurovascular bundle. The question of degloving the penis can actually comprise a miriad of reasons, like the type of approach, particular case, aesthetical, full access to penile shaft,......
The STAGE technique can be considered a modified Nesbitt Technique, but honestly i would consider it a bit more than that. Whats the diference?:

- Nesbitt Technique (bigger tunica elipses are excised, can go to 1cm width until curvature corrected. Both tunica inner and outer layers are implicated. This creates a point of maximum tensile force specially during recovery)
- STAGE Technique (Small eliptical excisions are made (3x2mm) until cuvature is corrected distributing the tensile forces. A major benefit is added. This technique only excises the outer layer not rupturing completely the tunica albuginea, in some way is similar to Dr. Levine TAP Technique, actually i had the oppurtunity to discuss this with him.)

There are a lot of more details but would be to much text :-) I have to be honest i took in consideration all these details and tried to view them in my personal case.

Ok, I acknowledge that I over simplified. But I did it to make a point. All those surgical techniques are still variations of the two basic approaches. They either force you straight(plication) or repair the damaged area(incisions, grafts, needles). As you said, shortening or lengthening, two schools of thought. Every technique you listed does one of those two things.

Except for congenital curvature that have no other choice than shortening the longest side, why someone with Peyronies will want a surgery that shortening further his penis?

The shortening has already happened. You lost that when you got Peyronies Disease. All we mean by a surgery to shorten is that they shorten the long side of the curve to match the short side by restricting its expansion with sutures. We chose to do it because it is much less traumatic than the lengthening surgery. Did I want to be shorter? Certainly not. But I lost length to the curve. All they did was make the two sides even.

Personally, with 5 cm less (13 cm now) I don't want to remain there, at 13 cm. The longer side of the banana is about 2.5 cm longer than the shorter one so with the other method I may get back 2.5 cm. It will put me on 15.5 cm, I can say OK.

Thanks James for providing a bit more insight into some of the techniques, and to Norm also, your advice and experiences with your surgery have been most helpful.
Keeping in mind I have congenital curvature and not peyronies, I'm going to assume not all surgical procedures are applicable to me.

And I don't think loss of length is a significant factor at all for me, with the curvature, my penis looks far smaller than it actually is. When I manually straighten it out with my hands, it certainly looks far longer. I was advised that I would lose 1mm for every 10 degrees of curvature corrected (this is for the STAGE technique). So roughly no more than 5mm, which I think I am completely okay with.

Hey i replied to your pm. Funnily enough i emailed them 3 times.. i gave a good week or 2 in-between each one and as soon as i emailed him directly i got a reply. If you live in the UK ask to get it through the NHS and it should hopefully be free for you (they said i should be able to get it free, the appointment and surgery which would save like £5000+).
