Title: question about calcification....
Post by: MtnSurf on June 21, 2013, 12:20:22 AM
sorry if this question has been asked here before.

I was diagnosed with peyronies in August 2012. My urologist stated that there was substantial corporal fibrosis present, "just a quite irregular hard scar in the distal third of the penis, in the septum but no calcification" He did an ultra sound. My question is how do you know when the scar has calcified? My injury occurred in Dec 2011 when my dick was bent by my ex girlfriends pelvic bone. Should I assume that until the scar goes away it still has a chance of calcifying?

I have an appointment with him next month

Thanks for any feedback

Calcified tissue will show up very clearly in ultrasounds and x-rays due to its density. Scar tissue does not show up as well since it is less dense.

My understanding is that calcification is not inevitable: staying healthy, using medications like pentoxifylline and using VED should help reduce the risk of calcification.

Best,
Skjald

I second Skjald on this all the way.  Pentoxifylline is probably the best treatment out there for CORPORAL fibrosis in addition to Peyronie's.  - George
