Would 2-4 hours of traction a day prevent progression of any further curvature from happening?

No one can promise you that, but from the forum reports it may help

Many of us would say yes, based on experience. No studies I know of on that look at prevention specifically. Personally I recommend it.

As James says, there are no guarantees about anything with this disease. But yes, it may well help. I use traction as many hours a day as I can take, or find time for. It has certainly stopped any further curvature, and may well have helped reduce it slightly.

Sure, maybe. As long as you don't hurt yourself.
