I won't argue with your doctor but for me, not masturbating was the worst thing I did. I left my penis alone and saw it get worse and worse. Now, that was just me so....

So you think that regularly pumping blood is what is stabalizing the condition? I have noticed that when I don't take my pentox and acetyl for a day or two the pain starts to come back. Does pain ALWAYS mean that it's getting worse? I have maintained my length sort of, still an achieve 7" but it's hard, also have hourglass distortion in base of penis and girth loss there. I lose my erection without constant stimulation too.

I can never think of a situation where pain is good. Unless your body is going through growing pains, pain is not healthy. When the body is aching, it's usually a sign there is a situation. If masturbating hurts or it hurts after ejaculation, then I would listen to my body. If it doesn't then I would keep doing it. Also, there's unanimous consent (as far as I could tell) in this forum that improving blood flow is essential. That's what Pentox does. Pentox is not a pain killer and neither is ALCAR. So when you use them, you don't have pain. What does that tell you?

If I were you, and I think I am, I would add Cialis to my regimen as well in order to increase blood flow.

As for the masturbation, if your doctor tells you not to do it, then who am I to argue with him? But you have to make your own call sometimes as to what your body is telling you.

Too,
I notice that the question you ask in the heading of your post is not even what you asked in your post. I am going to answer it anyway. As someone who uses VED, I can tell you that it is not a sensual experience. You don't have to be concerned about ejaculating when you do it. Placing your penis into a cold, hard plastic cylinder and then pumping it up with a mechanical device is not like oral sex. Forget that notion. What it does is cause an "artificial" erection and release it much faster than you could do it on your own. By artificial, I mean, in the absence of arousal. If the VED worked like oral sex, then every man alive would want one. We don't. That's because it is a therapeutic process.

I need to do the ved every day but I have to get aroused and finish in order to do so.

my doctor said it was bad to masturbate too much.

TooYoung,
Forgive me if you have answered this earlier. Do you have a VED? Have you used it?

That is absolutely false.  VED therapy has nothing to do with sex any more than urination or washing your genitals is related to sex.

Norm, I stopped because when I used it gently the scar would start hurting again and I thought it was agravating it.

I did it again today and the pain came back but it has subsided now, I'm not sure if it's a good pain or a bad pain, but it's not necessarily a pain more than it is I can feel the plaque down there.

Hawk, do you have any tips? If I am not stimulated I can't pump up to a full erection to save my life. Once I am stimulated I need to ejaculate otherwise I will get blue balls or I will not be able to help it.

If you are patient your VED will pump you up without any sexual stimulation just like it does everyone else from 20 yrs old to Old Man who is well into his 80's.  It is difficut to know what else to say except pump more and masturbate less.

TYFT  it sounds like your pump is not working properly.  The whole reason of using the VED is to expand the tissue WITHOUT the need to stimulate yourself !  Also you need to be very careful with this device, in a minority of guys, like myself, it makes things worse.

I don't think it necessary that you start off getting a hard erection. The key is repeated blood flow in and out. After time, the erection quality is supposed to improve.

Dear TooYFT

Start by pumping and releasing, again and again. This will gradually fill your penis with blood.

The key is to get a seal at the base. With a "A" cylinder this is easy. With a large cylinder it can be hard and so a silicone ring to reduce the diameter a bit right at the entrance to the cylinder is a good thing.

Once your penis is hard enough to form a fairly tight fitting seal against the wall of the cylinder, then you can pump for longer (like 10 seconds), to gradually pull more and more blood in. Finally, you may be able to get it real hard and just hold it for a bit of time. I have gotten it to a good vacuum pressure and then simply left it on for minutes at a time. Practice makes perfect.

In all of this, most of us are not masturbating at all. And, when we are done, we release pressure and the penis gradually deflates over a bit of time.

"Blue balls"?? Where do you get your information on sexuality from? The movie Animal House? Trust me, you can pump it up and let it back down (or you can actually get aroused even and not ejaculate) - somehow I bet you will survive.

I have heard of men overpumping and causing Peyronies. I have heard of men masturbating and getting Peyronies. Most of us feel that simply getting it up every day is important, though, and that the pump helps straighten it out.
