I had my first visit with the urologist today. Confirmed, I have Peyronies.
Among other things, we discussed VED treatment. Every Friday a VED representative visits that medical facility. I am scheduled to meet with the representative next Friday. My doctor suggested that my insurance would/should cover the cost, I would pay the copay. I have met my deductible for the year with my insurance company, Aetna.
Is this too good to be true? Will my insurance company really cover the cost minus deductible? Does anyone else have any experience with coverage picking up the cost of the VED?
I sure hope so.

I believe from what I've seen from other posts here is that VED is usually only covered if it's for ED, NOT Peyronie's. Talk to your doctor and ensure that he mentions ED treatment on the insurance form, otherwise he claim will get bounced. I have not used a VED personally, so perhaps another member with more experience in that area can chime in.

Going back through some older posts, I see what you're saying. That's insane. Peyronie's can lead to ED. I thought the new trend in medical care was towards prevention!...preventing the disease/condition rather than treating it.
It makes no sense. I could be wrong, but I think I read a couple of weeks ago that if you want Cialis make sure the doctor prescribes it for the treatment of Peyronie's rather than ED, or your insurance might deny coverage? I actually discussed that with my doctor today. He acknowledged that yes, cialis prescribed for ED, you might get denied because "you're just trying to have fun". He said, "I'm prescribing it as a treatment for Peyronie's".
Now if he does the same and prescribes a VED for Peyronie's I might get denied?

Insurance will not cover the VED if prescribed for peyronies. It will cove it if prescribed for ED. Same for Medicare.

I suppose I should call my doctor's office and see if he can return my call so I can talk to him personally.
When I talked to the receptionist before leaving, she telling me the next appointment date with the dr, and scheduling me to meet with the VED rep next Friday......she told me they will have already contacted my insurance company about the VED before that meeting.
This raises some questions in my mind. I wonder if they know how to handle the situation so that the VED will be covered. It's not their first rodeo, not their first time around the block. Surely they know how to handle the situation? My wife seems to believe they will handle the insurance situation appropriately. I should probably make the call to my doctor anyway?
What do you guys think, make the call, or trust the experience of the experts?

The doctors office knows which codes to give the insurance company to get you covered. Best let them handle it.

That's what I was thinking. But on the other hand I thought the logical answer was, it's my health and why leave it to chance. I made the call and had my doctor's nurse return my call. It sounds like they have it arranged to handle the right way. My paperwork has me diagnosed with peyronie's and erectile disfunction. Hooray!
I'm just not used to dealing with this type stuff....I have to be diagnosed with peyronie's to get coverage for Cialis. I have to be diagnosed with ED to get the VED covered. Anything straying or contrary to that and I get denied insurance coverage. Doesn't quite make sense.
Oh well, it's not like I have been paying them $500 a month, just in case I need care. Wait,....
