Title: 1 Year of Traction Results
Post by: vintage800 on December 27, 2019, 06:14:14 PM
Some quick background.
I was diagnosed with a mild case of Peyronie's back in late December 2018. I read through many posts on this forum, watched NeoV's youtube videos, and now 1 year later, I feel compelled to speak about my own experience since it was cathartic for me to read about how others were facing similar struggles as I did, both physically and mentally, with this terrible disease.

I'm not sure how I bent my penis since I didn't feel any sharp pain, but it was definitely not it's normal straight self after sex with my wife. I saw 3 different urologists in December 2018/January 2019. Some helpful, others not. None would prescribe me Pentox, but some suggested traction. I went with the Penimaster Pro and told myself I would set a goal of doing 1,000 hours of traction for 2019.

About a year later, I've fallen short of that goal, but I did manage to get in 750 hours this year. I never wore the device during work in the office or outside my house, but I would seek to do about 2 hours a night on the weekdays and a bit more on the weekends.

Starting stats - January 2019:
1/1/2019 - ~16 degree bend
Erect length: 13.5cm / 5.31in
Erect girth: 12.5cm / 4.92in

1 Year Progress - ~End of December 2019:
12/27/2019 - ~4 degree bend
Erect length: 14.6cm / 5.75in
Erect girth: 12.7cm / 5.00in

1.5 Year Progress - ~End of June 2020:
6/23/2020 - ~1-2 degree bend
Erect length: 14.8cm / 5.83in
Erect girth: 12.8cm / 5.03in

Note: multiple measurements were taken and the above measurements were the median.

I was mainly focused on fixing the curvature since I assumed I was in the acute phase. The 16 degree initial bend was just below the glans, to the side due to a palpable nodule (possibly a developing scar), so it was causing the head of the penis to face left, making intercourse quite difficult and extremely painful. I probably had sex just once in the first 3 months of 2019. Currently, at ~4 degrees, it's barely noticeable and has allowed me to have no problems in bed. I would probably take the increased erect length/girth with a grain of salt. I didn't measure my pre-injury length and I can't remember the last time I had measured myself after I got out of high school. It's entirely possible that some of the "gains" were just recouping previously lost length/girth, but I'm not sure.

Daily Routine
My daily routine looked something like this:

1) Microwave rice sock and wrap my penis for ~2 minutes.
2) Use the PMP for 1hr to 1hr 15 min. I would sit in front of my computer, set up a space heater under my desk, wrap a belt above my knees, and rest the PMP so that it was perpendicular from my torso.
3) After 1 hr/1hr 15 min - take a 15 minute break.
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 depending on available time.

Supplements
In terms of supplements, I had found a 2017 study that showed a lot of promise when using a combination of supplements. That study is linked here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5530853/

I didn't buy their product itself, but instead, ordered most of the underlying components off Amazon.

Supplements -
L-Arginine 1000mg
Propolis 1000mg
Vitamin E 1000 IU
Silymarin 150mg
Ginkgo Biloba 120mg

Summary
I'm very pleased with my results after one year. I personally attribute most of my success to the heat sock + traction, but it's definitely possible that the supplements helped. Ultimately, I felt like I sacrificed a lot this past year when putting in the time to do traction (note: I can see why Restorex is so appealing now), and I look forward to continuing with my daily routine, though with a lower target of 500 hours for 2020 since I feel like I'm mostly "cured" at this point. Hopefully someone reads this and gets some hope that traction can indeed be very helpful. It certainly helped me. And whether you use the PMP, Restorex, or some other device, I truly believe that if you put in the time and dedication, you can get progress - slowly, but surely.

Edit: 6/24/2020 - 1.5 Year Progress Update

That's my latest update for now. I'll check back in at the 2 year mark. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the detailed post! It's encouraging to hear of your positive results. I'm in a similar boat, where I have a mild upward curve but a lot of palpable plaque, so am trying to be aggressive with treatment to limit progression and reverse the curve. My treatment plan looks similar to yours, so hoping I get similar results. Best of luck as you continue to work toward 100% "cured"

Great results and thanks for posting back.  Many try traction for a couple months and give up.  This shows w time there can be success!

I would like some evidence somewhere where you get results when you are older and have calcified plaque like me. Everyone I read that has improved is either young or had an injury with a soft scar. I have not heard of one single person here that has had success if they have "genetic" peyronie's and not due to penile fracture. Not one. Prove me wrong. And if this hijacks the thread, please either delete or move me somewhere else. But I needed to say this.

Yea, I'd start a thread asking fir traction results w calcified plaque.  There's at least one study showing some...but less success than w non-calcified plaque.

Why does anyone bother with a hard plaque then? I have been asking this same question in various forms for over a year now and get all kinds of b.s. answers. Not attacking you Tony. I am about to spend round 3 of xiaflex $5000 each time. For no purpose whatsoever. And traction every day. For no point. Why don't they just tell you to get an implant right away as soon as you are diagnosed. This forum serves zero purpose. There are only effective treatment if you are young and have a minor injury. Surgery is pointless. Every person getting surgery will get an implant. And if they don't they have lost size anyway so who cares. Everyone should get an immediate implant upon even thinking they have peyronie's. Seriously. I don't get it. Rant over.

I keep forgetting to not respond to your posts as you disagree w any strategies that may prove helpful, unfortunately there are no guarantees except maybe w an implant.  If you're at that point then, so be it but no need to ask other questions.  "Rant over"

I didn't say I disagreed with anything. I said they don't work for me. And I have yet to see anything effective for anyone with anything other than a penile fracture. Anyone with a hard plaque is doomed. That is all I said. And I meant no disrespect to you.

samsung, you among other users have a very easy tendency of being sickly negative. Your statement is also incorrect. If everyone with a "hard plaque" were doomed, then the majority of peyronies-sufferers would be doomed. A scar can be hard and yet not be calcified lol, it's not very difficult to understand. It occurs with a lot of people.

Just my two cents -- it sounds like you're definitely on the right track in terms of attacking your calcified plaque with collagenase injections since it sounds like you're in late fibrosis. The urologists I met with said surgery is a last resort so I think it's good that you're doing xiaflex, even if it's for a 3rd round. I would think that if the xiaflex is successful in softening some of your calcified plaque, the accompanying traction would help restore some of the "straightness" that you had before. I completely agree that the absence of calcified plaque is more ideal for any sort of penile traction therapy, but in the absence of knowing whether our plaque is truly calcified or not, the best we can do is to have a positive attitude and put in the traction hours in the hope that the payout will be worth it in the long run.

If it comes to surgery, you may want to read about Case 2 in this article about a guy who had extensive dorsal calcified plaque, had surgery, but did not have to get an implant: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4708157/.

Why would I be in "late" fibrosis? I have only had this for a little less than 1.5 years from onset.

GIR-Doesn't hard=calcified? I know they can't tell if it is truly calcified without an x-ray, and even then it calcifies at different rates. But if it is hard, doesn't that mean calcified?

If that's the case, Samsung, again, a lot of people would've been f*cked.
In that case, I then have a calcified scar after just 3 months in the disease.
It's insane how long this forum has been here, and yet there are so many matters that have different opinions and no facts whatsoever regarding it. A person as late as two days ago commented somewhere that hard-to-touch does not equal calcification. Lol this is ridiculous tbh

Btw, which country and which doctor could provide me with a perfect examination? An examination that could give me a real picture of where I am at?  Doubt there are more than 3 of those doctors. But I'm looking to find one of them, cause the doctors in Europe are all arrogant. I can travel all across the globe if that's what is needed.

Obviously I don't know your exact situation, but based on pathology/treatment in Table 1 of https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4708157/, your having done round 3 of collagenase treatments suggests that you're at a more advanced stage of Peyronie's. But again, just conjecture.

Very happy to hear about your results - keep it up.

Maybe do a post on the improvement forum - it will give others hope. I sometimes browse the improvement forum for this reason.

Thanks for sharing your progress.

I'm glad you have had good results. I got alright results with the PNP for six months. Maybe 10 degree difference but as soon as i stopped using it, it went back to it's original curve in a matter of 1-2 months. I did 3 hours every morning.

I took a break then started using the RestoreX and injured myself with it in less than a month and stopped using it and the PNP altogether. No my erections are rock solid when curved and painful. I'm thinking of trying to go back to the devices.

Please tell me more about this rice sock.
1. What's it's purpose?
2. How exactly did you make yours? size? 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 full of rice???
3. How long do you microwave it for?
4. Anything else that would be helpful?

Also, why the space heater?

I also had strong, but painful, erections in the beginning (first few months). Traction definitely helped lessen that pain and I would say I'm pretty much pain free these days unless I don't do traction for several days in a row. I would highly encourage trying to do traction again if you have the time.

The rice sock is what I use as a 'warm up' similar to how people warm up before exercising. After microwaving a sock filled with rice for about 30-40 seconds (depends on the strength of your microwave), I wrap this sock around my penis for about 2-3 minutes to get it ready to be stretched. If you were outside and it was freezing, and you tried to touch your toes, you would most likely be much tighter and less pliable than if you had sat in a sauna for a bit or went for a run, and then tried to touch your toes. Similar case here. I use this sock as a warm up to "prime" my penis to be stretched.

To make the rice sock, you don't want to use an ankle sock, but a sock that goes up to your shins (about mid way would be good). Fill that sock with rice of your choice about halfway, then tie the end of the sock like you would tie the end of a balloon.

I think there are other threads that talk about the rice sock on this forum. Just make sure that when you wrap the sock around your penis, you don't have it too hot, otherwise you might burn yourself.

I would say the space heater is even more important than the sock, for me at least. I leave the space heater on the whole time under my desk when I'm doing traction. I can't stress how much of a difference this makes for me. When I use traction without the space heater, my penis gets cold quite easily after 1-1.5 hours. But with the space heater, it feels great. I truly believe it helps with blood flow and creates a better environment for the penis to be stretched.

Hope this helps!

That's how you do it! I did traction too, sometimes doing it all day 14+ hours. (I also added transdermals to soften the damn plaque)
Put in the time, be smart about it and improve slowly but surely.

Pretty much all of the above. I'll probably do an update post in 1 month, which would be the ~1.5 year mark of doing traction for me. I think I'm pretty much fully healed at this point and I am only doing traction at this point as a "preventative" measure (and because I have plenty of time due to covid19).

To be honest, I'm not sure. But the way I see it, it's sort of like someone who gets injured in an accident and goes to physical therapy (traction, in my case). They do the physical therapy, usually intensive at first, and then less frequently as they gradually heal and get better. Will they be fully healed? Maybe, maybe not. There are stories of injured people (i.e., pro athletes) who actually come out stronger than before the injury with physical therapy.

Because I've had Peyronie's, I see myself as someone who has a higher probability of getting it again than someone who has never gotten it. But if I can do some consistent traction (we're not talking 8+ hours) I can hopefully help prevent it from happening again. Plus, I'm usually at my computer quite a bit, so it's not difficult for me to set up the traction device and do a few hours with appropriate breaks.

did you have an indentation at the point of your curvature? I have similar curvature as you did before, a little worse in fact and my main concern is the indentation which is around 3-4mm deep at this point and causes a lot of pain and loss of girth

Yes, I had an indentation just below the glans and to the side. I could feel a palpable nodule (possibly a developing scar) there, so it was causing the head of the penis to face left. If I had to guess, maybe it was 1-2mm deep?

Hey thanks for sharing your 'journey'  :P, I also just got the PMP and plan to put as many hours in as possible until the end of the year. This may sound weird but do you remember the length (inches or centimeters) of the rods when you began with this therapy and their final length or did you just go with what felt right and did not adjust it during the following months?

There is one traction device called Andropeyronie which is unlike the PMP specifically made for men with Peyronies Disease and so they give the patient an actual treatment-plan which he has to follow:
http://docs.andropeyronie.com/instructions/Andropeyronie_EN.pdf

Do you think it wise to simply follow their instruction but using the PMP instead of the Andropeyronie device? I chose the PMP over the Andropeyronie device since it seemed more comfortable to me and of a higher quality..

The andropeyronie is a simple traction device you can buy in many different versions and prices for "penis enlargement". Nothing special about it or "medical".

And like with most other devices the "treatment plan" is mostly b.s. 3 hours first phase is too much. 8 hours after day 6 too much.. Also switching such a device every 2 hours seems too long and you will get cold tissue by then.(30-60 minutes is ok)

Start very low time(5-15 minutes) and intensity(very low stretch) and increase by feel continuously but carefully.
At some point(weeks..) you want to stretch the tissue in a way that challenges it, that you feel it stretching. When truly used to it you can wear it up to 16 hours a day from time to time.

@melting OK thank you for sharing your thoughts! So do you think it is advisable to take off the device after every hour and before wearing it again to apply heat to the penis via a rice sock or does the break alone suffice?
Title: Re: 1 Year of Traction Results
Post by: melting on June 26, 2020, 01:42:46 PM
Blood circulation is the key.
Stop set and get new blood in once it gets cold or changes color.
Then do another set.

Depending on stretch intensity that needs to be done earlier or later.
A stretch that also has a good impact, I needed to do it every ~ 1hour.

Yes, to my surprise, the dent eventually went away because the scar tissue from the palpable nodule also disappeared.

I take a belt and fasten it around my thighs. I then rest the PMP device on that so it's basically perpendicular to my torso. I also have a space heater under my desk when I'm doing this, so it's almost like a hyperbolic training chamber for stretching.

  • I've updated my progress/stats above. Though very minimal, I'm still surprised to see length/girth gains at this point.
  • At the 1 year mark, given my successful progression, I decided to no longer take any supplements listed in the section above. They may or may not have helped, but I didn't think I needed to take them anymore as my Peyronie's had pretty much fully healed.
  • I strongly recommend doing traction with a space heater will maximum the effort put forward with a traction device. At least from personal experience, I feel like doing 2 hours of traction with a space heater is more beneficial than 4 hours without the space heater.
  • I currently have about ~500 hours of traction logged for 2020 year to date mainly due to being able to work from home due to COVID19.

That's my latest update for now. I'll check back in at the 2 year mark. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your post. I'v had the disease about 18 months. Only minor improvements. Am due to have an operation in Jan 2022. If my symptoms don't subside. Am currently using the andropeyronie device. It's not good when moving about. I might give panis master pro a go. As you have. Do you recommend this device? If I can resolve my problem in a year. I'll forgo surgery altogether. My preference. Is penismaster pro any good?

The PMP can be comfortably worn for longer periods of time.  But I'd recommend the restorex as only 60" a day is needed.

Mr man, is that an date set by yourself or the wonderful socialized Uk/EU medicine?

Certainly using the extender as long as possible daily (WITHOUT creating more problems, as in too much time, too much intensity, too fast) you could get rid of peyronies until then. It's a marathon not a sprint.
Using different devices to have different "attack angles" might be smart..
Also ending the day with some VED to "fill in" the stretch created always felt good to me after a day of traction.

This is a fantastic report. Thank you. I used andropeyronie for 6 weeks now. It's not bad. Not comfortable but has given me length and girth. No change to bend. Have ordered restorex. Wish I ordered penis master pro. Am more convinced gentle long term stretching will farm long term results. As apposed to a quick fix that may not give permanent results. Well done matey for a good recovery.

See no reason for anyone to be doubtful. Better off just adopting his methods?
