Title: New member. My story so far + questions.
Post by: PMA.bwm on October 31, 2012, 06:02:13 AM
I'm a 25 year old living in Ontario, Canada.

I haven't seen a doctor or urologist regarding my condition.  I've just contacted a member of this forum about a local recommendation.

I don't recall the date, but I remember the initial 'discovery' happened like many others say;  Awoke one morning with an erection, but noticed it felt very different.  There was discomfort, some pain, and mostly what I can best describe as pressure, on the left side, near the base of the shaft.  I'd say that I first noticed it about 6 months ago, perhaps longer, but I think less than a year.  I could also feel a "lump" inside.

I still experience pressure, and in the same location, as above.  I wouldn't call it painful anymore, though, but definitely feel the pressure when erect.  However, I do experience random, brief episodes of pain (but not excruciating) again in the same location when flaccid.  These episodes happen maybe, 2 times a day at most, but I can go several days without experiencing them as well.

At this point though, the biggest issue I'm having with this disease is the bend (or in my case, kink) that I've gradually developed.  When erect, everything is straight for about half an inch, then like an elbow, there's a sharp curve or kink to the left, I suppose about 30 degrees, and then it continues straight along that direction.  I also believe I've started to notice a slight rotation after the kink.

I am newly single, so this all began while I was in a relationship, but since developing any noticeable symptoms I have not engaged in intercourse (so it's been about 5+ months of abstinence).  I can successfully masturbate without much pain, but still do feel pressure in the area of the bend.  Any attempt to bend it back towards a 'normal' direction though does result in pain, so I don't do that.

No treatments tried yet.
**Question1:  Does the location of the plaque (in my case quite close to the base of the shaft) respond better to VED or traction devices?  Is this a specific case-by-case that I'd consult with a urologist about?  Would this amount of a bend make using these devices unsafe?  I can anticipate that using something like the VED (with the small cylinder) would cause a lot of pressure with an erection, as I imagine it is forced to go straight?  Is this the intended purpose of these devices, and thus why they are only used for a few seconds at a time?

I suppose I have whatever OHIP (Government) covers, and I think my parents have a drug plan.

I haven't shared this with anyone yet (except the readers here, now).   I feel like, at this point, I could have intercourse.  However I am nervous that the bend/angle will require me to do so in either a very awkward position or experience a lot of pain.  I'm also just nervous about how a new partner will react to this?
**Question2:  Has anyone been in similar situations with a new partner?  Were they understanding?  Are many people still able to have intercourse?

...

It seems like I've gone into a lot more detail than I intended (I tried to follow the format outlined in the sticky topic at the top of this forum).
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Welcome to the forum. I have replied to your PM with a recommendation of our Toronto Uroligist that I am seeing , as well as being seen by several other members.
Your condition sounds a lot like I experienced. I started on the VED but in my case , it didn't really help , although I don't believe I experienced any harmful effects. It may work for you.
Since surgery last Feb. my Urologist started me on a traction device since I had a post OP residual curve return. But not as pronounced as pre OP.

I have been using the traction and that has definitely helped a lot.
You can read my history in that topic on the home page.

You will recieve a good deal of information here from very knowledgable members but I urge you to get to a qualified Peyronies Urologist asap. He can help you with this.

I can answer for a part of your questions:
One of my plaques location is same as yours. I am using VED and have some results.
The purpose of the three cylinders is to force the bent penis to straiten out. You should not apply pressure just to the point that is still comfortable.
The reason to keep the pressure for short time:

One remark: Go to see the uro advised by Mike67 as soon as you can and begin treatment.
