A news article was posted today on multiple major news sources about a drug which would prevent scarring in Dupytren's or other cases of scarring. Does anyone know more about this?

Very interesting thanks Neo !
I don't know anymore about it but the way the article is written certainly infers the In-Vitro studies demonstrated the scar tissue (collagen) was reverted to a "normal architecture" after the scar had formed .... quite remarkably applicable to us folk :)
I do hate it when they talk about trials being years away though !!
It does sound pretty amazing, and human trials in two years would be great. I won't get my hopes up, but I guess now is the time to research lysyl oxidase and how natural compounds effect it.
It looks like beta-aminopropionitrile has been studied for its ability to stop scarring through the same mechanism.
Does sound pretty great
Sounds brilliant, but being no scientist myself, is this on the same principle as Medi-Wounds proposed Bromelain based enzyme? SB
This could be it..hope to see the drug in my life.
If you are less than 40 Sta, you may see the drug in your life time.
Take 10 years for human trials 1, 2, 3, 10 years trials 1, 2, 3 assessments and 10 years FDA approval

While I get the frustration with trials that's not true..from the time of idea/concept to end of Phase 3/4 trial it's usually 3--5 years depending upon a couple of things..1- Money, 2- Phase 1 safety outcomes..
I work for a Pharma company and in Oncology and some drugs from time of concept to market in Oncology can happen in 3 years.
You are right Freemason, I exaggerated :)

From the other side, you stated:
Quote..1- Money...
Mainly how much profit the developer think he can get from the drug/procedure and not necessarily how much it will help the sufferers :(

If think the period of developing nad approval of Xiaflex is very represetative with regards to what we can realistically expect in terms of approval timing...
I googled "LOX inhibitor" and found a product by the Life Extension brand called "5-LOX Inhibitor" being sold on Amazon and other sites.
If LOX and 5-LOX is the same thing, couldn't this supplement potentially work?
Mechanism of antifibrotic effect of taurine and niacin in the multidose bleomycin-hamster model of lung fibrosis: Inhibition of lysyl oxidase and collagenase - Blaisdell - 1995 - Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology - Wiley Online Library (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jbt.2570100404/abstract)
Niacin and Taurine are inhibitors.

Basebend, yes that would be it. It looks like it helps with joint pain and tissue repair, which would be huge for me given all my hand and elbow pain!
Boswellia is used to reduce LOX, it's a cheap supplement and seems to work well for pain too.
I'll buy it and start taking it along with bromelain for my joints / peyronie's.

I use Taurine in conjunction with my gym work. It helps to clean up lactic acid. It's also synergous with Beta alanine.
Thanks basebend for tip, i have also ordered through Amazon the Life Extension 5-LOX to try it.
Cheers :) ;D
Guess what else blocks LOX? Cafeic acid, in other words, COFFEE. Caffeine is both a TGF-beta blocker, LOX inhibitor, and (mild) erection inducer with nice anti-fibrotic effects.
NeoV, Did you try the 5-LOX inhibitor from Life Extension??, I have just received mine (took an age from Amazon USA) and was wondering how it went for you, particularly your hand and elbow pains ???
Hey, no I haven't! Wasn't the main ingredient boswelia? I have yet to try it but am ordering more stuff soon. Let me know how it goes!
Been taking it for a week...might up the dosage...
I'll post of course if I see any improvements.
Cheers,
LeeBee
Thanks Leebee69 / NeoV, I am going to stop all supplementation except 5-LOX inhibitor for a couple of weeks and see what happens as my peyronies is stable, and remains so :)
I will post back with any conclusions.
I am confused.
Boswellia is also used in the multi-modal theraphy by dr. Paulis. And I believe it is used because it is a 5-LOX inhibitor. So that seems to be in line with the findings in this thread.
But, I found this paper on elastin, where IIUC the author claims that LOX and LOXL are beneficial for elastin production: https://docdro.id/X4LerZb
Am I not understanding things correctly? Or else, what gives?
One can order life extension products directly on their website. All products are pharmaceutical grade and arrive quickly. More expensive than other brands but I stock up during their year end annual sake.
