If you press into fat pad and measure to tip I would think is not accurate. The curve, mathematically, takes off length if you are measuring in dead straight line from pubic bone. Sorry if not explaining myself fully here.
A cloth tape will confirm to the curve. I'd measured with (cloth) and across (rigid tape) the curve for ongoing comparison.
