Title: Why are there so many opinions about xiaflex?
Post by: samsung on June 06, 2019, 09:53:49 AM
Some people say to get the injections immediately. Others say to wait until active phase is over because of risk of damage.

I am not a stupid person. I know that there is only one answer to any question. If there are multiple answers then I immediately stop listening. Just BS breath at that point.

Should you get it right away or should you get it after active is over? There is only ONE correct answer to that question.

Go to a Peyrones Urologist. He or she will advise you what to do and when after you are examined. We are just Keyboard doctors ;D

There is not just one question to the same answer. Many times, doctors don't even agree on the same subject. Not saying we are doctors here. Just that there will most of the times be differences in opinion among people. And if you look closely, a lot of the guys that had the injections, had a very different treatment approach. Even if they all share having injections.

The issue here is, everyone is different in the active phase. Some active phases last longer than others. Mine was a few months. Others much longer. Knowing when the active phase is over, is a crap shoot...even for the individual going through it. Some feel pain, some don't. Some wake up and its there. The issue with waiting, is calcification. Once that sets in, Xiaflex doesn't always work well and its harder for the needle to get into the plaque. So there really is NO one answer here. My doc didn't hesitate getting started. He did an thorough exam with ultra sound and measuring soon after I saw him. Yes, I did feel my active phase was over. But he also stated he doesn't like to wait because of the issue with calcification setting in. Then you are limited to surgery.
