Title: Is it normal to get more scars in the active phase?
Post by: markdubby on June 12, 2021, 02:02:55 PM
Hi all

My peyornies journey started in February with my first scar under the right side of the glans. I then had another one on the left side and recently theres another small lump below the second scar. It seems that i'm responding well to treatment (traction + VED), and the very first scar has lost a lot of density and seems like its being smothered in tissue.

What i'm wondering is, is it normal to have a multitude of scars during the so called active phase? does this process usually die down as the active phase goes on? or does each individual scar have an active phase and i might be getting them due to microtraumas i'm not always aware of?

thanks

Unfortunately, as with many things about this condition, no one can know for sure. I don't think you associate palpable lumps and injuries since a single injury can cause multiple palpable lumps over a period of time.

I personally think it is very unlikely you are causing microtrauma that is worsening your Peyronie's Disease especially with traction therapy. Since traction did help bring down your initial curve significantly (amazing results!) I'd just continue the regimen since it seems to be working. If more scarring is showing up, it's more likely the natural progression of the disease and traction can signifcantly curb the progression especially since you are already responding so well to traction.

thanks, i am mainly worried about the instability that more scarring is bringing, as my glans is already quite floppy atm. i hope that as i'm actively treating the disease the deformity won't be as bad but let's see.

Does continued sex and masturbation cause more scars even if you are hard? Urologists have told me it is OK,  but I think it was BAD advice.

I believe it is bad advice. We should let the penis heal. I have new plaque that's tender/painful to the touch. I'm gonna try really hard to abstain from now on.

It's really tough navigating something like Peyronie's disease, especially when it seems like you're seeing new scars even while undergoing treatment. I'm not a healthcare professional, but your observation about the active phase does bring up some interesting questions.

Though it might not be directly related to Peyronie's, advanced laser treatments like Melasma treatment (https://www.vaestheticsclinic.com.sg/skin/picolaser) are shown to be effective in tackling skin conditions and might be worth exploring. Their Pico Laser technology can target deep layers of the skin to break down pigmentation and scarring.
You're already on traction and VED, which are recommended for Peyronie's, so definitely consult your healthcare provider about the new scars and whether a specialized laser treatment could be an additional layer in your therapy.
