First round of Xiaflex complete

Protracta

I am about 24 hours after my first of three Xiaflex injections. I was very pleased on how fast and painless the appointment was. My doctor first injected some lidocaine at the base. I have an 80 degree curvature with two pieces of plaque located on the posteria about an inch before the penis head. After 10 minutes the lidocaine took and the Xiaflex was injected into the plaque and a compression wrap applied. The compression was very light and I was told to keep it on for a few hours. After unwraping I noticed a small amount of swelling localized to the injection sites. There's some bruising noted, obvious but not that bad. Some slight tenderness but no real pain. I return Thursday for another round. I assume some modeling too.
My doctor recommended traction but wasn't adamant about it. Any thoughts on traction with Xiaflex?
I will report back with any big changes before Thursday's round then again 24 hours after that injection. Hopefully sharing my experience will ease someone's anxiety about what to maybe expect.

Ive

Thanks for this.

With regard to traction, we were advised in the UK not to do anything until a fortnight after an injection.

However, you should ask your consultant his opinion.

GS

I completed the first 2 shots 2 weeks ago.  I was very anxious and thought the first shot hurt a lot, but the second one actually didn't hurt much at all, so I really think it was more anxiety than actual pain.

Like most everyone else, I had bruising and swelling, but it all went away after a week or so.  I had sex at the 2 week mark after the second shot and my curve has decreased tremendously...maybe by 15 to 20 degrees or so.  I go back in 6 weeks for the second round.

So far, I am very pleased; it has exceeded my expectations for how quickly the swelling and pain dissipated and how much my curve was reduced.

Hi GS

Good news!

What was your angle of curvature prior to first injection?

Protracta

Thank you Ive...

Good to hear your results are good. Question, did you use traction or no?

GS

I've never actually measured, but I think I started out around 35 to 40 degrees.  The Doc just said "you've got a pretty good bend there, don't you?"

After the swelling went down after the 2nd injection, I have just been doing gentle, manual stretching and when I wake up with a partial erection, I've done some gentle straightening.  Pretty much right out of the Xiaflex manual the doctor's office gave me; it's also shown online on the Xiaflex website.

GS

So basically you had a 50% curve reduction after the first session of Xiaflex!!!
It is very encouraging :)
Wish you to be completely strait after the next session. :)

Like I said earlier, I am very pleased and quite frankly, very surprised by the reduction.  Right now, I just hope it lasts. If it does, I'm going to consider Xiaflex as much better than advertised...which doesn't happen often.

I still have a another plaque I can feel, so I assume he will inject that one next.  If it works as well as the first one did, I may be done after 2 sessions.  If I can get close to straight, I will leave well enough alone.

The other thing that has pleasantly surprised me is that the part of my penis he injected has gone back to feeling soft and spongy.  Before the injections, I had a lot of hard facid and bending even without an erection.

I will keep you all posted...good or bad.

Great stuff GS.

Can I ask you a very important question here.

How long is it since you first had Peyronies? That is how long ago was the onset?

Reason I ask this is concerning the treatment of Xiaflex to 'mature' Peyronies sufferers (say 5-6 years) and those who had injections a year or less after being diagnosed or even in its 'active' phase.

Ive

Sorry one more thing.

Are you really saying that your urologist didn't measure your bend either prior to your first injection or after?

I didn't say my results were good or not. I decided to wait until the end of four shots before giving my results.

Yes we have used a Vacuum pump twice a day, two weeks after an injection until the next one.

GS

I've had Peyronies Disease for almost 7 years now.

The doctor took pictures of my erect penis, but didn't say what degree the bend was.  He may have measured my degree of bend from the picture.

Ive, that was meant for GS. I wanted to thank you for your info on traction and then tell GS congrats on his results and if he used traction. Sorry for the confusion.
I too am waiting until the doctor says I'm finished before I conclude my results. I can tell you that after one round I don't see any change. I have bruising but no swelling or pain, even on the injection site. Second round and modeling tomorrow.

GS - It sounds like Xiaflex is going very well for you! Congratulations! I completed round 2 about 3 weeks ago and my results are not as significant as yours to this point.

Good luck with your second shot Protracta!

1. Sorry James. The reason for including the 'quote' of the thread is it means people don't get confused who is replying to who - as happened below.

2. Well done GS. If you have had Peyronies Disease for 7 years, that is an astonishingly good result. I must say I am very surprised the doctor didn't measure your curvature. Not sure how he can accurately tell the improvement without doing so.

3. Understood Protracta. If you have only one injection such a short time ago it is far too early to expect any improvement until after some modelling. Good luck.

It is OK to quote but edit down to the relevant part. We try to keep threads and replies on topic so it isn't confusing.
