Title: ESWT/Gainswave Destroyed My Ears!!!
Post by: tcvzm on January 12, 2020, 10:25:52 PM
I hate that I'm writing this post for being the idiot that I am but I hope to help others before it's too late. Gainswave was the biggest mistake of my life and I did only one treatment.  I'm sure most of you didn't have the experience that I did.  I've suffered from tinnitus my whole life and it was mostly mild.  I did a test with the doctor to see hear how loud the unit was and thought it was nothing extreme.  But even during the test, I was wearing ear protection.  But what I wasn't expecting because of my stupidity was the bone conduction through the perineum.  After that ONE session with hearing protection, my tinnitus was screaming loud and has not returned to normal from four months ago.  My sleep has been wreaked as well as the quality of my life. I'm sure that I was the exception but if you have any hearing issues, stay FAR away from ESWT!!!

I am sorry to hear that.  Gainswave is not true shockwave

You couldn't have known that it transports through the body and triggers the tinnitus(the "therapist" should've!). Really freaky. Good for you warning others.
I researched Tinnitus once for a friend and it can have so many reasons how it comes about. Him helped doing stabilization/balance exercises with closed eyes which trains the vestibular system which can be a factor in it. There's also a high correlation of neck/back problems associated with it and some people reported good experiences with chiropractics mitigating tinnitus(of course chrios are controversial) Wish you the best.

apparently if too much power in the shockwave can cause fibrosis, if setting is appropriate can reverse fibrosis.  The experimentation ongoing on now is finding the correct shock power and duration intervals etc.  My Uro said could be ready for prime time in 2-3 years.  Definitely something to look forward to

How do you know this? What setting would that be to reverse or worsen the scarring? I'd like to discuss this with my Gainswave provider and want to be sure he knows this and is using the correct settings.
