Hi. I know many of us also have experienced anxiety. I have both good and bad days during such anxiety and I have been dealing with depression for several years. I need some change in my life. What should I do to get rid of this?

Go to a therapist who deals with stress management to Learn how to think differently. Depression and/or anxiety can begin with negative thoughts. Thoughts can effect your chemical balance ie serotonin levels. Turn negative thoughts into positive ones. Other than that there are medications. Study up on Herbal remedies
5 Rounds of Xiaflex. Good results.

I am known to give out false information and post nonsense with little to no evidence to back up my claims.
I have ignored several warnings. Further reports to the moderators or Administrators and I will be banned.

Exercise, meditation, and in my opinion, low carb (low insulin!). I used to have panic attacks regularly until I eliminated grains, potatoes, starches etc.

There are a lot of books on anxiety you could read as well. For me, I have to eliminate things in my life that make things complex or messy. Talking to people or taking time to myself both help as well.

Meditation ?
Many different ways to do it............Guided by way of recordings, self- no intervention from anyone else, classes, videos etc......I'm not sure what the question is.

That was the question.  In detail, specifically what form of meditation works for you?  How do you do it?  How much benefit do you get?  Telling a man that has never tried to meditate to meditate is not much help.

First I would research general meditation. The benefits etc.
Then after you see what people have been taking about for thousands of years you can read about the various types of meditation and try one that looks appealing to you.
Personally I found it difficult at the beginning. Like most people the hard part its quieting your mind and thoughts. Not easy at the beginning.
I started when my daughter who is a therapist insisted I do it to relax.
I started w guided med w my Yoga instructor.
Then I moved on to guided med using a cd and headphones......I do it just about every day and really miss it if I don't.
I hope that answers your question. Regards

I simply sit or lie comfortably, and focus on deep breaths.  As I breathe in and my stomach extends I think "I am", as I breathe out I think "relaxed".  If other thoughts come to mind I let them go and focus on my breath and "mantra".  I also use it when anxious and can't go to sleep and usually works in minutes.

For meditation, I recommend The Power of Now and The Untethered Soul as a basic introduction to observing your thoughts. Those two books simply cannot be beaten as far as the way they introduce it.

Wait in silence, wait for the next thought, then see it objectively and gently push it away. Repeat this process until you enter an alpha brain wave state. This can be done with eyes open or closed, but closed makes it easier, as your brain enters an alpha wave state immediately upon closing your eyes.

Children's brain waves are alpha, and as they become more stressed and aware of details in adulthood they change to beta brain wave states. Meditation can immediately change you to an alpha state, and changes the brain permanently to handle stress by changing the amygdala connection and increasing grey matter and other brain waves.

As you practice, it becomes easier and easier, and stress lowers. It's very very powerful.

Yes, complementary therapies are the best approach to mental and physical health. They consider all the aspects of physical and emotional wellbeing whole instead of treating particular symptoms. Such therapies focus on mind, body, spirit, and flow of energy.
