Title: RE: Xiaflex and working out
Post by: insomniac on February 07, 2022, 07:43:22 PM
Hi Everyone,

Wish me luck. I had my first injection in the first cycle of Xiaflex today. I'm hoping it will make a difference, as my curvature is quite extreme. Been ok psychologically by focusing on other things and staying busy, but not it's back to focusing on trying to see if improvement is possible.

Quick question for those who have been through this and exercise regularly. Doctor told mt to take it easy with no specific directions. If you exercise, how soon have you started working out again. Right after 2nd injection ok? Wait a a few days? Week?

Any personal experience y'all can share would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I went through 3 rounds, 6 injections, each was worse than the last with pain and swelling. I just used how I felt as a guide. I run 5 miles x 5 days per week and lift weights 2 x per week. After 1st round (2nd injection) I was running (slowly) in 3 days. After 2nd round more like 7 days and after 3rd round, about 2 weeks because I really swelled up on that 3rd round and it was very painful. I would wait a few days and see how you feel. If you feel ok (which to me means without a lot of pain), try an easy exercise and see how you feel and go from there. I wouldn't do contact sports, basketball or maybe even tennis until you really had no pain. Just my opinion.
