Title: Introducing myself
Post by: Oconee on November 13, 2021, 11:57:52 AM
I am 45 yrs old. I woke up one July morning with an extreme curvature in my penis. Greater than 90* dorsal and also to the left. I hoped it would heal in its own and gave it a few weeks before going to the Dr. Once I visited my Family DR I was referred to a urologist. One of the few urologist in my area who will treat peyronies. I was officially diagnosed during my first appointment and advised to buy Restorex and begin traction immediately. In the meantime we waited for my insurance to approve xiaflex. I had very little improvement with restorex alone. My insurance approved xiaflex and surprisingly agreed to pay 100% of all costs. This week I finished up my first round of xiaflex. I am doing modeling with the Restorex device. I have seen an improvement from 90* to 60* just this week. I have another round of xiaflex as an option but for now will be modeling and hoping for the best.

Welcome to the forum Oconee.

Wow, a dramatic onset and a significant improvement!

Did you have any sense you had an injury or any curve before the overnight 90% bend?

If you have not already, please read this carefully.  Link --> https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.0.html

Hawk, the week before the injury I had severe abrasions from a trip to the beach. It was scraped up pretty bad from sand and shell debris that got into the netting in my shorts. My Urologist said this was totally unrelated but I think it's worth mentioning. I had no curve or known injury prior to its intitial presentation.
I have read the forums and I do believe my urologist took a slightly different approach. I started restorex immediately. Even though I was only a month in we decided to start xiaflex ASAP. All modeling has been done at home with the restorex device.
It is also worth mentioning my urologist did a sonogram and found no calcification. Both injections were to the same side of the plaque and he used what he called the fan technique for the injection.
It has been a huge improvement but I have noticed if I skip a restorex session then my curve seems to try to come back. I have to stay on top of modeling to maintain results

Welcome Oconee to the forum.  Great news on using Restorex with Xiaflex! Do you have anyone in your family genetics with Dupuytren's contracture ? Their is a connection to peyronies with that.  :) Mikel7

Mikel7, no known history of Dupuytrens, however there is a family history of auto immune disorders
