Title: What symptoms would I notice if a ring was left on too long?
Post by: Markyj on July 27, 2021, 01:16:58 AM
I am pretty anxious about leaving a ring on too long.  I am worried about the lack of circulation.  Would there be some immediate symptoms I could recognize if it caused some damage like bruising or swelling? thanks

A cockring should never be left on for more than 30 minutes without releasing it for new bloodflow. That is what I have always read.  You can do a lot of damage if you are not careful.  With the horeshoe ring type you can get a very engorged penis.

Hey Guys:

Time for me to step into this conversation about the 30 minute time limit for any cock ring or tourniquet on ones penis:

OK, this time limit is based on the time limit allowed for tourniquets being applied on any bleeding wound in first aid applications.

These time limits for application and removal is cited in any and all first aid courses. This is to allow refreshing of blood into the wound and flushing out of old blood, etc.

Now to further explain about this time limit for Peyronies Disease usage of cock rings. These cock rings in any shape, form or fashion being used with or without VED pumping must be observed. A cock ring used for the purpose of holding up an erection for any purpose therefore must be considered as a tourniquet for all practical purposes.

CAUTION NOTE: Applying any form of tourniquet MUST BE RELEASED/REMOVED AFTER THE 30 MINUTE TIME OF APPLICATIION for the purpose stated above.

Leaving a cock ring on for more than this time limit can and will cause further damage to an already injured penis. New/refreshed blood must be allowed to flow through the corpora/penis to prevent this damage, etc.

Note about leaving a cock ring on beyond the 30 minute limit:

Based on my previous post outlining information about cock rings, (tourniquets)) leaving one beyond the 30 minute limit MAY OR MAY NOT PRESENT ANY SYMPTOMS.

However, knowing the 30 minute time limit for using a tourniquet members MUST be aware of this and remove the ring for safety.

I don't think I wore them super long but I didn't time it and with my anxiety I worry that I could have done damage even though there are no symptom

Do you know what signs or symptoms one would see if they had left it on too long?  I think I am going to stop using them because they make me too anxious but I want to make sure I didn't cause any harm from past use.

Question for "Old Man" does the 30 minute limit also apply to leaving your penis under vacuum when using a VED?

Monty and any VED newbie users about the 30 minute limit of using a cock ring on ones penis when using a VED:

First, I need to state that all cock rings no mater of their design are nothing more than a tourniquet. Medically, 30 minutes is the required time limit to keep any tourniquet applied to any bleeding open wound. So, the same principal should be  used when a VED user leaves a cock ring longer than this 30 minute limit. NEVER APPLY A COCK RING TO A VED EXCEPT FOR SEXUAL ACTIVITY.

The cock ring MUST BE REMOVED TO ALLOW FOR FRESH OXYGENATED BLOOD TO FLOW AGAIN. COCK RINGS SHOULD NEVER BE APPLIED TO ONES PENIS DURING VED SESSIONS FOR Peyronies Disease THERAPY ~~ THEY SHOULD ONLY BE APPLIED WHEN VEDs ARE USED FOR ERECTIONS DURING ANY SEXUAL ACTIVITY. SO AGAIN, THE 30 MINUTE LIMIT SHOULD BE USED EVEN WHEN COCK RINGS ARE USED FOR SEXUAL ACTITICY.

Any time used beyond the time required for releasing the cock ring can and will cause further damage to an already injured penis.

SPECIAL CAUTION NOTE TO ALL VED USERS:

PLEASE DO NOT USE COCK RINGS AT ANY TIME WHEN DOING Peyronies Disease THIERAPY PER THE PROTOCOLS LISTED IN THE HOME PAGE VED BOARD INDEX LISTING.

Does anyone know if it is considered safer around a flaccid penis vs. erect?

Cutting off blood flow is cutting off blood flow.  It doesn't matter whether you are flaccid or erect.

 Monty:

The rules about tourniquets applies to cock rings when used for holding up erections. The time would vary based on how long the cock ring had been used. The blood flow must be allowed to help regenerate the erectile tissue of ones corpora.

I am sure that we have members on board the forum with EMT and nursing experience. They would be able to correct my statements about holding times for cock rings and control bleeding of open flesh wounds.

Does a ring that is snug but not extremely tight still allow some blood flow into the penis?  Some websites say to put a shaft ring on while flaccid and then get erect.

It is very possible to use a cockring that only partially restricts blood flow.  This is especially true in cases of partial Erectile Dysfunction. The goal with every erection is more inflow than outflow.  Cockrings do not restrict inflow since the arteries are deep in the penis whereas the veins are very near the surface.

If you had ischemic injury from using a ring would it be apparent immediately or could issues show up later? It has been about a week and a half since my use with no symptoms so I should be ok but I am still worried.

You would know it immediately and at the most within 72 hours.

BTW I just read that priapism usually only causes permanent damage if it lasts 12 hours or more.  That is not exactly the same thing as a constriction ring but I am sure you are fine.

Ummm.  The cockring is the reason I'm here.    Long winded bedroom playtime has left me with damage.   Didn't think much about the time when playtime is on.   Metal ones seem to be especially bad.
