Title: Cost for Excision and Grafting with Dr Levine?
Post by: swiss on December 24, 2018, 09:48:53 PM
I am going to explore excision and grafting in the next few months. My insurance sucks. I need to do it with a good surgeon. Ideally Levine since I am in Chicago. Does anyone know the cost for this out of pocket?

May I ask why you posted this topic on the "Oral treatment board"?

Djordj: unless you post the reasons why, try not to do comments like this that are alarming, but provide no explanation. Especially when he have members that just went through excision and grafting with good results.

Would be interested in your data why you think grafting is bad. And keep in mind I had grafting surgery and VERY happy with it.

How long have you had the grafting and had sex with it? Who did it? Was it scary? What did they use for the graft? How much did it cost? Thank you for your response.

I think the cost with Levine is roughly 10K if you are self paying. They have a "surgery center" at the Rush Medical facility which he uses for people who get surgery outside of the hospital system.

Not sure what the cost would be if you get your insurance involved.

The reason grafting is bad, is because it increases the risk of ED and is only normally used in cases of severe bends.

Swiss,
Hard to believe how long you have been on the forum and have not read my story in the link below.

10 years since the surgery, sex is great, no issues.... would do it again.

The reason grafting is bad, is because it increases the risk of Erectile Dysfunction and is only normally used in cases of severe bends.

That doesn't make the procedure "bad". I agree it is more invasive and is a greater risk. And I have stated repeatedly that it is a last resort option. But for us who did have severe curvature... it is an option that is worth evaluation.

I just read the history. Wow. My brother. Thank you.

With me, I have a hinge effect, but my curve is minimal almost normal at about 20 degrees...might have gotten a little worse...anyways...the hinge is very worrisome and doesn't seem stable enough for intercourse even though I get very hard erections.

Sorry. I don't know what you mean by hinge effect. Can you please explain. Thank you.
