Title: Anyone Else Developing More Plaques?
Post by: michaelb on July 21, 2014, 08:14:50 PM
This damn thing is so frustrating.  So I had 1 plaque 50% of the way up on the right side causing a pretty decent bend.  Xiaflex fixed the bend within a couple weeks. I was very excited.  Soon after I noticed a plaque on the opposite side, same location AND one right under the head on the left side (like basically half under the head, half out).  That causes no bend, but does hurt like hell and caused a dent on the bottom left.  I understand this thing sucks but of course when I got it straight new ones pop up.  Anyone else experience this at all?

I'm really sorry to hear that :(
Are you limiting sexual activity?
And are you doing any stretching?

Hope someone else can comment

No sex, stretching daily.

In my opinion, you must see your Xiaflex doctor as soon as you can.
Maybe he knows what are the reasons and what to do.
The harsh modeling/stretching may cause additional plaques

--I haven't experienced anything like that.

--I'm sorry that you're having to experience it.

--I'm even a little sorry to know such a thing can happen. Man, that sucks!

As James says, you need to see your doc ASAP. And who knows--maybe it's just some transitional process rather than what you think it is. The good news, I believe, is that it's still straight!

Yeah I'm trying to get in there ASAP.  I already got Xiaflex in motion for those plaques so hopefully ill have the same luck with those.  I decided to stop the sideways stretching and just stick the the penis master pro since it seems to benefit all locations.  What a mess

How long ago did the acute stage end for you?

Roy

My private opinion is that the acute stage is never ending.
The acute stage suppose to end when the Peyronies stops progressing.
In may case, after the acute stage "ended" for a while, started again. Than again the same thing one more time.
I read many posts on the forum that members had the same recurrence of the "acute" stage.

Agreed - I don't think the "Wait until there is no more pain to treat it" is the way to go.  My first idiot urologist said that, and also said there is no cure so just wait it out.  Regardless of the "stage", I would think Xiaflex is going to stop the progression.

To beat a dead horse here, one of the potential problems with Xiaflex or surgery is that it does not treat the underlying cause of Peyronie's. Until there is better research done on that and a better understanding what we can do is take supplements shown to halt the progression (CoQ10, ALCAR, etc) and drugs like pentox and cialis.

Anyway, be patient is all I can say.. I really hope this all clears up : /

100% right Neo.
Xiaflex, surgeries and any other possible invasive treatment are not a cure because as you say, they are not treating the underlying causes of Peyronies.

I have had 2 Xiaflex Treatments this year (2014) an d 3 interfuron treatments last year (2013).

Xiaflex June 23 & 24th
Xiaflex August 4th & 5th

I can say without a doubt that these injections are helping me in a big way
I also feel that some of the plaque has grown back and moved to different areas as some others have suggested
ALL IN ALL I am still ahead of the damage that this disease is inflicting
I have only 2 more sets of injections a total of 4 injections that insurance will cover
I do not think it will be enough

My history
Penile Revascularzation on 2000 (Due to blunt force trauma injuries)
Surgery failed after 8 months
Viagra used for several years
Peyronies showed up in 2012 treatment began in 2013.
I have been on the sidelines for over 6 years unable to have ANY type of sex
I have a lot of different experiences that i would like to discuss with interested parties
I am being advised that STEM CELL operation is going to be needed

Since I started this thread, just an update.  The original xiaflex completely worked/straightened it out, and even the denting is filling out.  So that is good news.  Now just to take care of the new ones but I'm amped it worked so well with one round.  That particular plaque is basically non existent now.  So moral of story, if anyone out there is only considering it, I'd just go for it. I am aware it may not work for everyone but it seems to just melt the plaque I had.  I'll update after the next round on the new ones.

That's great news michaelb! You experience along with others is making me strongly consider Xiaflex over just going straight for surgery. Please continue to keep us informed.

Definitely, I'll keep the updates coming.  Next round starts next thursday.  Also the one that was very successful did have some calcification on the original xray that was taken 8 months earlier prior to the injections.  So I'm assuming that is a good thing since the calcification likely got worse with time and still had positive results with Xiaflex.  Anyway, I'll continue to update.  Thanks

Your posts about your results gives hope, especially for people with calcification as calcified plaques were excluded from the trial.
From your experience can see that Xiaflex helps calcified plaques also.

Yup - I'm making sure not to make it sound better than it was, but that one was clearly calcified and it is straight as an arrow right now.  I'd be 100% happy right now if it wasn't for the other new developments but instead of getting down about it, I'm positive I'll have the same results.

Just got the new plaques injected. Way more bruising/swelling/pain this time but it is going away relatively fast considering how bad it was.  I'll keep you guys updated.

Keep us posted Michael, really glad they seem to be helping and looking forward to the results after you heal up from the bruising!
