Title: PMP rods faulty
Post by: Donka on January 12, 2022, 06:47:16 AM
I'm just starting to use the rod expander system for the PMP but I'm having a problem with the rods coming apart from the spring rod at the base.

One side seems absolutely fine, but the other works its way loose after a while.  I can gently screw it back together but only about a single turn and it eventually comes away again.  No amount of unscrewing on the good side can detach it.  Is this something that can be fixed easily, or perhaps even normal and something I just have to live with?

When I first started with the PMP I also had something similar to this. I just had to make sure that the rods were pretty secure when screwed together. Even when I would adjust the tension more while wearing it the rods could come apart so you have to keep an eye on it.

Hiya and thanks for that.  I can nip up the normal rods ok, but the problem is that the first rod on one side has come detached from the tension spring at the bottom.  Whilst you can screw it back on slightly, it won't tighten because it's screwing in to the spring mechanism inside the first rod, which just turns loosely in the cylinder.  When you look at the other side of the first rod, there is a tiny hole which I preume they use a bespoke tool to tighten when the units are being built.  I've tried a bit of fuse wire down the hole whilst tightening the rod but it hasn't worked.

If you purchased it through the company they will gladly send you a replacement spring base. I needed the cradle on mine replaced and it was no problem.
