Title: Successfully surgery equates silence
Post by: TDix on September 02, 2019, 04:45:28 PM
So I know successful implants garner a huge response here.  That's awesome as I love success stories.  What I will say is that I had a successful grafting surgery, and it has been relatively met with silence.  Almost like no one believes me.  I know the surgery route usually relates to complications and yes I am still not fully healed, but I DO have all my length back, and am straight.  Slight bulge on the left side but that should subside.  I have gotten a lot more responses to my problems more than my success with my surgery, and while I hope my journals offer information to those lurking, it is discouraging to post success and not hear anything.  I even recommended Dr Yafi be added to the list of recommended surgeons, and nothing

I feel you. In my case, I have read so many bad things about grafting surgery that it is not on my mind right now to think in that direction. I believe there are many people like myself on this forum trying to avoid surgery in general. With that said I have been lurking 😅 and appreciated you posting your progress. I believe it will help others that are thinking in that route. I did not have questions, answers or comments to respond. But that is the same for implant topics. Maybe the majority here goes implant or no surgery route, I don't know.

Congrats with the successful surgery and good luck with further recovery!

A bit off-topic, a general comment for this forum: Visual overviews of onset, problems, treatment, results would be nice (like a timeline). Reading post by post makes you lose a lot of context in my opinion.

I have post surgery pics in the pic forum.  I unfortunately lost all my pre surgery pics when I got a new phone

My surgery went great... no complaints 100% would recommend it. For me I've kinds drifted off into the weeds since I no longer consider myself a person with Peyronies condition.

I actually meant a timeline graphic. Maybe I can make an example soon, I just didnt have much treatment done.

I'm confused. It's say you had a successful grafting surgery yet you still had an implant done later? If it was a successful graft then why would you need an implant?

Did you do Extra Tunical Grafting or Excision and Incision Grafting?.

It was probably successful in restoring his length and straightness back, but he likely already had erectile dysfunction or got erectile dysfunction from the surgery and needed an implant for erections.

I think I read that at least 40% of excision and grafting surgeries lead to erectile dysfunction, not really worth getting unless you already have erectile dysfunction honestly.

Tdix I am still confused. How was your grafting a success if you ended up with an implant? If you had just the implant wouldn't that have solved the curve and length regardless? Why do two surgeries?

Re: Incision, grafting, implant
I have a 50 degree bend and indent with no treatment yet. I have had three appointments with Dr Eid (well respected here). I have a history of erectile dysfunction. I may be going in the direction of an implant, but Dr Eid said that I would require incision & grafting with the implant in order to restore length and eliminate the bend. That made sense to me. Am I missing something?

No that sound about right. That's likely what the OP was going through when he got his Incision and grafting before an implant. He made it seem like grafting was all he needed though which confused everyone posting here, a lot of people would prefer a surgical intervention that isn't as invasive as an implant.

The op,had a successful grafting operation initially but problems ensued later which was the reason for him getting an implant. Dr eid might not know this and very few surgeons are currently using the tunica expansion procedure (TEP) to get rid of hourglass , curve etc. without the use of grafting at the time of implantation. Tartao from our forum got it done early this year and it restored all his length and no hourglass anymore. Might be worth asking about or looking into, as it totally eliminates the need of a graft in your penis and consist of tiny staggered cuts in your tunica to let it expand which regenerate over weeks.

See my topic on resources for TEP in USA under implants board.

I think this is an important point by csm101 - most people for whom the surgery has worked want to move away from considering themselves sufferers of Peyronies. For those who have concerns about their own success, coming to the forums is an attempt to placate those fears, and encountering a lot of other people with the same fears and anxieties makes the success rate look very low. Thus adding to the anxiety.

In the first few months after my surgery, I was extremely anxious about everything (I had what looked like a significant overcorrection around the 2 month mark as well as terrible swelling and disfiguring) but now, after around 20 weeks - I'm just about as satisfied with the results as one could possibly be. Other than the fact that I'm now circumcised, I'm completely straight with very little loss in length (about 4mm) and what seems strangely like an increase in girth.

If this assuages just one person's anxiety, it's worth coming back to post.
