Title: Is Finasteride really a cause of peyronies?
Post by: ruff on January 16, 2023, 05:37:55 PM
Hey everyone, curious what people's thoughts are on finasteride? Could it really be a cause of peyronies?

Last thing I want to do is relapse.

Heard men from various different forums get a whole cocktail (no pun intended) of problems with their dicks and libido after taking that venom. Im not telling you what to do take it or do not take it just remember you are playing russian roulette with that toxic crap.

I am speaking as someone who took it for a very brief period before quitting due to severe side effects my body just couldn't handle it at all. Some get zero side effects, some get them years into the usage out of nowhere and some are left with permament side effects.

Due to so much I read about this drug I have asked myself many times if it played a part in me getting the disease...

Finasteride lowers the production of DHT, which is the main hormone for penis health, some guys get affected sexually while others don't. Some guys never recovered from the Finasteride side effects, but the drug is still on the market

I'm sure that caused mine.  I took for a slightly enlarged prostate and stopped after a year.  Have been off it since oct 2022.  It worked for shrinking the prostate but obviously not worth it.  2 urologists I saw said it's possible but they didn't think it caused it.  I'm positive it did

Isn't depressing how 'Doctors' protect their money over men's health?, Finasteride is known to cause ED in some men, but Urologists won't admit it because it will affect their pockets

It is a common theme brother. Praying upon patients desperation

Both my dad and brother are bald. When I started to notice I am definitely losing my hair and heading towards norwood 7 I freaked out became desperate and took this medication.

After the dreadful side effects i quit very early (after 1 week) as it was evident my body could not handle it.

I now shave my head with razor for past 2 years and accepted going bald was just what I was destined to. I would not be surprised if this medication somehow contributed to Peyronies.

I want to make one thing clear though. When you are in a state of desperation like that you do not think rationally. I was fully aware of the side effects including all the problems with ED and such through reading about finasteride on various forums and I still decided to take it so I can't blame any doctor. It was 100% my own fault. That said. This medicine is pure venom.

Men have taken suicide beacause of it.

ruff:

It is... both for Peyronies and erectile dysfunction. Google Post finastiride syndrome. It is an absolute pain to deal with and it's management is worse than ED.

Please don't go on the drug. It is not worth the risks.

It should be taken off of the market. I am on another  men's forum and you would not believe the number of men that have been damaged from this drug. Sure there are those that say it did not hurt them, but why do you want to take a chance when it comes to your sexual health. It is a big $$$$ maker!!

My family has a ghastly history of aggressive prostate cancer and I have been on Finasteride since 08/2000 as a chemopreventative. Did it cause my Peyronie's? I'm not qualified to comment, however IMO there are more than enough correlations to warrant Phase 4 follow up. Mick Jagger sang, "A choice of cancer or polio". In my case it's "A choice of cancer or Peyronie's"

I saw a Peyronie's expert 01/19/2022 and he was very concerned about the family history of prostate cancer. A DRE was negative and he said my prostate is small. What a deal, a small prostate and a bent d!ck. I asked about genetic testing and prophylactic removal of the prostate. Nobody will do that it seems. Frack.....

I stopped Finasteride a few months ago and my libido has come roaring back. In light of my family history of aggressive prostate cancer, a urologist recommended PSA and DRE tests 2X per year. DRE exams ain't fun but they are better than the alternative.

I've taken finasteride for 5 years and never had any problems. Maybe my erections were a little softer, but not much.

Now I don't know if I should stop taking it just to see if that helps. But if it doesn't, then I'm gonna have Peyronie's and baldness.

Google post-finasteride syndrome. They characterize it as a rare occurrence but there are countless men who have it.
