Title: depression and e.d.
Post by: whygodwhy on June 11, 2016, 03:40:11 AM
I have e.d. and have tried Levitra and Cialis and they did nothing for me.

I've been impotent since my mid 20s (I'm 31 now) and am pretty sure it is caused by extreme depression and ptsd (someone tried to kill me when I was 17). When I'm not on an antidepressant I cannot get hard.  I took an antidepressant for over 3 years called Viibryd and was able to get an erection but it stopped working. (I should mention I was unable to climax)

What pills should I try to fix my impotency ?

I've tried:
Wellbutrion (buprion)
Mirtazapine (remeron)
Brintellix
Effexor
and many more which I will have to get my doc to write a list of cause I can't remember

I need someone with some valuable input to please help! cause my doc is clueless and not helpful
Its been a year since I've been able to get hard and life is just a bowl full of cherries like this 8)
I don't believe Viagra or a pill like that will help my case, the ones I tried at high dose did nothing

Please help!!!

Do you have any physical trauma in your penis? Did you have any mental problems before the traumatizing event? I honestly think you should.be looking for a good therapist instead of new pills. If your testosterone is good, your penis is physically okay and the only thing that caused you this is emtionall distress, then using medication will be a temporary solution to an ongoing problem. Also, what is your overall health like? Do you workout, eat healthy, have a fulfilling life, etc.?

How is your diet OP? Exercise? I know that when I do not sleep, sit around and play games too much, and have a bad schedule, my arousal levels are very low. I don't feel like sex and don't get hard that easy. That being said, I can almost always get hard when it comes down to it, so I cannot say I suffer to the degree you are. I am just asking, since I find that penile health is a real slippery slope for me. How long have you been off antidepressants?
Are you impotent with sex or masturbation or both?

my overall health is good, I eat healthy and workout.  I am unable to masturbate or have sex due to impotency.  I don't have any recent trauma to my penis.  All I know is I am unable to get hard without an antidepressant, and am currently taking brintellix.

I was really hoping someone could point me in the right direction, ie try Zoloft or something along those lines, can anyone make a recommendation ?

Most people experience more sexual dysfunction on antidepr3ssants than off. How is your libido? Low testosterone can allways be a cause of erection problems, but I think in your case it might be caused by mental stress which I wouldn't recommend taking pills for unless they actually make you feel better and not just improve your erections.

Indeed, antidepressants seem to be more linked to ED than not. I recommend you see a true urologist who specializes in ED. It can be complicated and you want to really do your research. There may be a good solution for you out there. It's not my area of expertise so I hope more members here can chime in.

Normally, a simple scan will determine if there is any major physical reason for ED. If there isn't, it will be down to other factors.

And I have to ask...

Are/were you a frequent porn user?  This can adversely effect erections to the point of completely eliminating them.

Did you try 50 or 100 mg Viagra?
Levitra and Cialis didn't helped me also, but Viagra helps.
Also 5 mg daily Cialis may help after a certain time.
In my opinion, antidepressants causing ED, but it is just my opinion.
