After seeing a second urologist, and trying a pump for a few months, I've come to the conclusion that I can't avoid surgery any longer.
I've nearly a 90 degree bend, so will require a graft.
Looking for some words of encouragement to take the plunge.
I have private medical insurance through work, but I'm likely to lose this in the next 6 months, so the time is right; I guess.
Big step but it seems like a good plan, even some improvement to such a severe curve w xiaflex, traction, etc could leave it still unusable. Do you have an experienced surgeon in mind? Are you considering plication, incision or excision w grafting? Implant?
You gotta be brave. I second you on the anxiety and fear no a procedure like this. Look at Tony's case, even tho he has implant for some ideas on results. Are you sure about your doctor? Is he reputable?when is your surgery? Do you feel like sticking here with us and creating a diary?
The surgeon, Mr Rowland Rees, is recommending the incision and grafting surgery.
I've not had any personal reviews, however Mr Rees does seem to the the only specialist in the south of the Uk, and therefore has performed the surgery many times.
It would be reassuring to hear patient reviews, but it does appear that my choices are limited due to my location.
There was a member here from the uk that had surgery and just updated his thread two or three weeks ago. He had severe curvature as well. Did you saw his thread?
No, not seen the thread. I'll have a search.
