Anyone try bromelain? I've been doing a lot of research and saw that bromelain is a stimulant for the body to produce colaganese which is the stuff in xiaflex.
In my research says that people been using this for Peyronie's but I haven't seen any talk of this in these forums.
Wondering if anyone has used this with any result?
I tried it for 18mo, it did nothing. You can give it a shot though, it has no harmful side effects I know of. They claim it is good for inflammation but again, did not help me.
I tried it as well and saw no evidence of improvement. But it's harmless.
Hmm, yes, been reading some more. Most of it is broken down when digested.
Maybe bromelain injections would help, but I dunno if I'm too keen on the idea of injecting pineapple in to my parts.
Quite a few guys around here over the years have taken quite a bit of bromelain and there have been no reports of success yet with bromelain or any other enzymes for that matter. The underlying problem in the case of Peyronie's is NOT a lack of enzymes, it is a matter of the enzymes being blocked by the inflammation, and most anti-inflammatories are ineffective at restraining Peyronie's inflammation.
Is there such thing as bromelain injection? The reading I've done suggests a significant amount of bromelain is broken down in the digestion process, so you wouldn't see the benefits from taking it orally
Add me to the list. I tried it for several months - it did nothing. But then nothing else seems to give any improvement either.
I take Bromelain, along with many other supplements( if I told you all of them you would wonder about my sanity) and A VED daily, and traction daily, and just finished IV. I stopped the bromelian and did feel it getting worse... and restarted it. I stopped the Korean Ginsing I was able to boost my T levels from 500 to 800. Also gradually increased the Pentox up to 3 a day (but have to take the 3rd dose early afternoon because of sleep difficulty). I must spent a 100 dollars or more per month on the supplements... so far since last year I went from a 53-55% bend down ward to a 20% bend up ward, still have a dent ...to be honest I really don't know what is working ...but I am improving... and still very cautious ...

Your improvement seems significant, so I don't think is important what made the improvement.
Just stick to your therapy.
Question: Stopping the Ginseng increased your testosterone?

James,
once I saw my T increase by so much... in a short period of time, I Just decided to eliminate one, I also take Fenergreek . The list is long as I said...

is your plaque calcified? In my case, it is. If yours is not, that may be why you're seeing such a big improvement.
Jon...
I do not know if it is calcified... I can feel it as lumps or bumps is certain areas... I am having another Ultra sound in June. will know more then.
I work part time selling supplements, Bromelain is usually taken as an anti inflammatory and comes from the stem of a pineapple, I haven't had many customers say it seems to work incredible or anything...

While I haven't had any sort of benefit from Bromelain taken orally, maybe it does have some effect in vitro in new wounds. Not too sure about wounds that have already healed up though. I won't be trying any injections on myself I discontinued using it orally because it was just another cost, and I'm a bit wary of mixing a whole bunch of different blood thinning agents; internal bleeding doesn't sound fun. I've read it can be a risk to take it with Pentox, and well Pentox>Bromelain in my opinion.
Taken from the abstract of a full text. Just search this title in google if you're interested in obtaining it.
"Bromelain down-regulates myofibroblast differentiation in an in vitro wound healing assay"
"Bromelain attenuated endothelial cell and fibroblast proliferation in a moderate way. This proliferation decrease was not caused by apoptosis, rather, by driving cells into the resting state G0 of the cell cycle. Endothelial cell migration was not influenced by bromelain, whereas fibroblast migration was clearly slowed down, especially under hypoxia. Bromelain led to a significant decrease of myofibroblasts under both normoxic (from 19 to 12 %) and hypoxic conditions (from 22 to 15 %), coincident with higher levels of interleukin-6. Myofibroblast differentiation, a clear sign of fibrotic development, can be attenuated by the application of bromelain in vitro. Usage of bromelain as a therapeutic drug for chronic human wounds thus remains a very promising concept for the future."
Im curious as to why this isnt common supplement as far as I can tell among the members here. Its known that Bromelain stimulates the production of collagenase, which is the material that breaks down plaque. Some people even get collagenase injections. Dosnt Xiaflex break down plaque in the same manner?
Im curious on peoples thoughts.
I took Bromelain for a short time when I was in the US trying a lot of supplements. As far as the science goes, I don't see why it wouldn't work..
Hope someone with more knowledge on this chimes in.
NeoV.........I have taken Bromelain for years and do not think it did anything for me. But, if you want to try it, make sure your get the strongest bromelain available. It is rated with numbers and if you can get some in the 2400 range it would be the best. Bromelain in most stores is only about 600. Just FYI....dplookin
There's already a thread on the topic at https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3410.0.html (https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3410.0.html) . Maybe this discussion should just be added to that thread?
Thanks Ursus, I didn't catch it. Done

wait, how is this possible??? and why didn't you stop at about 2/3rds of the way so that it would have pointed straight out? :D
has anyone tried with enteric coated bromelain capsules?
I have read somewhere, I believe here, of studies on injectable bromelain for dupreyne's. Such would potentially have application here, and would be up there with Xiaflex as far as "doable" goes.
Yes, Mediwound has an injectable Bromelain enzymatic drug. Unfortunately it (MWPC003) has not been moved into phase I yet because the company is trying to get approval for two bromelain topicals that are for burns and wound healing. They did an ex-vivo study using duyputrens cords and MWPC003 dissolved the cords and does not harm other tissue.....so it's promising but 5-10 years out, like everything else
I haven't tried it but Life Extension has an enteric coated bromelain might have better results because it bypasses the stomach acid where most of it is destroyed.
