Title: Breath training
Post by: heimegut on January 07, 2023, 10:17:14 AM
I am new to this, diagnosed in November 22, and had symptoms a few months before that. The reason I am here is to learn and maybe find a way out of this.

Do any of you have experience with breathing training. I am specifically thinking about Buteyko method and Wim Hof method. I was doing these two combined but on different days of the week for a few months before my symptoms showed up.
This training had a tremendous positive effect on my health, energy levels and general well being so I really dont want to stop doing them.
Both these methods aim to influence the CO2 levels in the blood stream and the hence the cellular activity in the body. I am thinking that such radical changes as the ones I have seen also could be accompanied by something negative. Like for instance making the immune system go a little over board in the penile area and cause Peyronies?

I want to continue this training but I am very interested in if anyone else has any experience or opinions making this a bad idea.

Hey Heimegut. If you read up on the causes of Peyronies disease in all sorts of literature, nowhere it states a correlation between these exercises and getting peyronies.

Please have a look at it yourself.

The only thing that might relate to that which comes up in my mind is oxidative stress (ROS). Increase in ROS seems to be related to Peyronie's disease. I don't know these breathing exercises that you mention, but if anything, they were probably beneficial in decreasing the oxidative stress. So I wouldn't say they are the cause.
