Title: Comparing Surgical Options - Plications versus other procedure
Post by: BrettC on July 29, 2020, 03:48:07 PM
I am considering asking about the surgical solution.  I am hearing there are two types - plication and another method that uses skin grafting.  I hear the plication can result in a length loss up to 2cm (close to an inch), but is a little less invasive and done as outpatient surgery.  Another method includes going in and scraping out the plaque and then adding a skin graft to patch everything up.  This method is more invasive, requires an overnight stay in hospital, but will not result in the loss of length.  Although I hear it does impact feeling sometimes.

Any thoughts or advice here?  Anybody have experience with one or the other?

I had excision and grafting as well as two stitches of plication.  It definitely straightened me out from 50 degrees to straight.  I was numb for a good 5 months but that went away.  I ended up losing rigidity beyond my graft however so I am having an implant

I think you summarized it pretty well.  Do you have a good surgeon to consult further?

I had Plication. Totally successful... some loss of length... but the condition itself can cause loss of length.  45 min day surgery... fairly painless recovery... be cause there is no cutting into deep tissue.  Whatever route you take. Get a surgeon who dies like 75-100 a year... no time for a newbie

Thanks everybody.  I definitely will seek out someone who does these procedures a lot.  I am expecting some loss of length. How much typically do people find?

Your length at best will be the length of your shorter side.

Can you tell me who your surgeon was?

There are surgical options nowadays that don't involve plication nor grafting. And these procedures can restore a good amount of length and girth.
I don't know why they aren't much discussed here. Maybe cause they are pretty new.
I talk about Egydio Technique 2.0 and MUST Technique.

I'd say because they are controversial and not well respected at this time.

Could you explain to me why?
I can't see why it's not well respected. In 2019, Paulo Egydio presented his technique in a survivor debate against other 3 options. All the voters were urologists. He was considered the winner of the debate. I can't see how his technique would be voted for the best treatment if it wasn't respected.

In my opinion, a controversial technique is Nesbit. Surgeons should update their knowledge and stick to the best techniques. Nesbit is a gross procedure.

Hey Tortao,

Not too bad of an article you cited, but I expected it to be in Portuguese:-)- And this ,,old man" - double your age, I'll have to admit, (and of course double the knowledge about Peyroines ... ;)..-) doesn't know Portuguese.

Actually, we do agree that the Nesbit is a crap surgery out of the 60s. They can do better than that.

A forum member had surgery from Dr. Egydio, and he used a modified nesbit (stage), so it's strange for someone who says they only use their Egydio technique.

As far as I remember, the doctor that lied to that forum member and made a procedure not in the agreement was Dr. Kuehas.

Oh, ok.
Well, I don't know why Egydio used STAGE on this guy. Maybe cause his curvature was congenital? I don't know.

By the way, the topic about that unsuccessful surgery with Kuehas I talked about above is this: https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,13688.msg123546.html#msg123546

Kuehhas is not the surgeon u wanna go to. He will insert non absorbable suture on ur penis which will cause Erectile Dysfunction, narrowing, pain/discomfort and loss of life enjoyment. Something that happened to me and many others. Do ur research carefully.

He actually gave you a nesbit from what you're saying. In France this is what most urologists do, but they still have very good results.
