I am having treatments at the Tulane Medical clinic and I live almost 3 hours away.
I had my first shots on June 8th and June 10th
1st shot was painful, but I drove home afterwards without a problem. Per Doctors orders I left the wrap on until the next morning. Surprisingly very little bruising or swelling
2nd shot again painful, but afterwards I grabbed some lunch and headed home. On the way home I became concerned about the swelling and removed the wrap (a mistake). Later that evening I was very swollen and bruised so I called my doctor. He was sure everything was OK, but for peace of mind he suggested I call my local urologist and ask him to have a look - which I did. My local doctor prescribed some pain pills and told me to apply ice for swelling.
Within a couple of days I was OK
3rd and 4th shot July 20th and 22nd
I was a bit disappointed that I had no improvement (85% curve)
1st shot - I don't have to tell you these shots hurt. Anyway the wrap really does keep the swelling down if it's left on until the next day. The only negative was I had a large blood blister which burst sometime on the 21st.
2nd shot - The doctors examined the site of the blister and gave me some instructions for care, explained why the blisters sometimes come up, and advised me not to worry. I removed the wrapping on the 23rd with some bruising and a bit of swelling, but otherwise I am OK.
I typically take off work Monday - Wednesday and work from home on Thursday and Friday. If I lived closer to the clinic I could go back to work after the shots. The wrapping is a bit painful, but it helps keep the swelling down. I take a couple of Advil and have no problems driving home.
I am hoping to see some improvement when I return for round 3. Dr. Hellstrom and Dr. Yafi at Tulane have been great. They answer all my questions and have been very patient.
