Title: Pyronines has returned 10 months after placation.
Post by: 68andbent on June 08, 2021, 09:16:58 PM
Last August I had pyronines like a cork screw and to the left.  I went to a well known Dr. and Clinic in Jacksonville FL.and had placation.   After I was done, I had a slight upwards tilt, but nothing that got in the way. Now it is totally up against my stomach and on like a 45 degree, but goes out a little then up.  Impossible to have intercourse.  The bottom of the glad does not touch so there is no feeling.  Hard to get in.
When they left the little tip up, they told me they did that so not to make me any shorter.. and that did work at that time.... Now i am in bad shape.
If I stand with an erection, the tip hits my belly.  Hard to push down.
Has anyone ever had a second placation? I know there is a different surgery that is more dangerous, and wonder if anyone has had that one and had success.  I am thinking of asking him to remove all stitches 6 of them, and redue, or do the other surgery to remove the plaque,
All thoughts please

I am so sorry you're going through this. I don't know of anyone that has gone through placation and had to have it done again.

If you want to have plication, your curvature has to be stable (with no change at all) for 6 months at least.

For now you should meet Peyronie's specialist like Dr Gelman/Dr Levine/Dr Christine.

If you're in FL... Dr Christine is in AL... worth a consult

I dont understand why your doctor went straight to plication if you got peyronies only last August. Typically they make you wait till chronic phase has set in which is 9 to 12 months on the safe side.

This is what I don't understand fully on PLICATION and placing grafts to "fill" in dents and hour glassing. They are not addressing the disease just trying to compensate for the symptom. PLICATION doesn't cure anything. It just literally holds the non curved side in place[shortens]so it straightens the penis. Grafts just fill in the hour glassing not adressing the fibrosis or scarring at all. So I'm essence the disease isn't cured. So if the disease progresses then you get more issues. PLICATION and grafting to me seems like a temporary fix where more complications will arise later on

I feel the same, they never say it a cure, all they say its a treatment to get you functional again. But for some people plication is all that is needed to straighten a penis, not all people have recurring peyronies.

Having had Plication with a synthetic graft I can tell you a couple of things.
Firstly it worked and was a fairly easy recovery... I had a 90 degree downturn with hourglassing and it was fixed by Brian Christine in AL
Peyronies according to the best Drs rarely reoccurs... if you let it run it's course prior to repairing the damage.  There is no "treatment" per se for Peyronies... it's a condition that causes a deformation.
You can cut it out (excise)... make cuts in it (incise) or Plicate.
Plication did the quickest least invasive surgery with no potential Erectile Disfunction

I'm having the same surgery as Benjamin62 in 5 days with Dr. Christine, and I waited 20 months from onset to get the surgery.  It has been stable for about a year now and is very unlikely it will get worse after surgery.  As stated previously, every case is different, and each solution has its benefits and risks.  You need to do solid research and feel out specialists to see if what they are telling you jives with your research and people's experiences here on the forum before making any decisions.

It seems like a strong case can be made for extratunical grafting (ETG) to minimize complications in surgery, especially ED, as developed by Dr. Lue and practiced by Dr. Christine. My concern is that I have severe hourglassing but very strong erections and hinging. And I worry that "not removing" the very large calcified plaque at the base of my penis through excision will not help me enough. SO Dr, Levine in Chicago, who I saw a few weeks ago recommends partial excision and grafting (PEG)  - a much more invasive procedure - but one in which he finds rare issues with ED with someone like me with already very strong erection. So, I am leaning heavily toward Dr. Levine and the PEG rather ETG. I think if my indentations were smaller and I did not have such a severe hinge effect, I would choose ETG...but then again, if that were the case I probably would not have surgery at all if sex was still possible.
