It's good to post this information. People need to know the side effects. The side effects are not critical. A person should start with only 100 mg, and they should not take it late in the day. It can keep a person from sleeping. It can also cause irritability and can make a person aggresive. Other than these side effects, it's a good product that a lot of people use including myself. If I'm not mistaken, the Tongkat Ali that comes from Indonesia is better than what comes from Malaysia. Just FYI, dplookin
It's probably different in Southeast Asia, but a lot of the Tongkat Ali coming into the US is apparently either very low in the active ingredients, or is just a mixture of herbs with Viagra added (the FDA has seized a number of shipments for this reason).
I know because a lot of bodybuilders are into Long Jack, and they sit around the gym and complain a lot about how difficult it is to get the real stuff in the US.
If you will make a search for Pasak Bumi you will find the Indonesian manufacturer.
I sent them an email, they product is not available in Indonesia.

It's not cheap, but available. I have been told that the best Long Jack is the 200:1, from Indonesia, and if possible it should be 10 year old.

Thanks, dplookin...the people I've heard complaining about Tongkat in the US haven't been complaining they can't find it. They've been complaining that they buy it and it turns out to be fake, or uses very small concentrations, or is something else entirely (usually something dusted with Viagra or a Viagra homologue).
Ironically, a lot of the fake Tongkat seems to originate out of China via Singapore (with real Tongkat coming from neighboring Singapore and Indonesia). The drugs used aren't usually Viagra or Cialis, but slightly rearranged (and untested) variants on the Viagra or Cialis backbones. This has been a problem for several years. So the big questions are about the concentration and authenticity. And, as far as I can tell, no independent party is doing any testing on these products. Of course, a lot of supplements fall into that category...but the financial incentive to fake Tongkat seems pretty high.

James....from what I have read in the past about Tongkat Ali, I have learned that 1:200 is the best. The dosage of 300 mg seems like a lot. Taking that much might turn a person into a Raging Bull.......I mean, it could make some people very irritable and very aggressive. When I take only 100mg, I can feel the irritability, but maybe that's just me. Just my personal experience. dplookin

i bought Tongkat Ali from Malaysia ... it was The Best pill i had ever had ... the erections were so great and strong that it make me felt like a 17 years old boy ... plus a full command on orgasm... I took it for three years once in a week (it helped me ready for twice in a week for intimacy)...
my foolishness to attribute my peyronies to Tongkat Ali.......... i suggest to drop Cialis for one or two weeks.. take one
tablet one hr after dinner.. you need to plan the dosage as per your own condition ..
for me , it used to give me good blood circulation in my penis for at least two days ..
you may need to take one tablet on alternate night ( depends ) .. pls make sure u take a healthy diet .. if you develop a good feeling of erection and do intercourse.. i had occasionaly back pain symptoms and had to improve my diet ( due to frequent intercourses i did .. but it only happened after 2 years of very frequent intercourse ) .. i still beleive Tongkat Ali will substitute Cilias wd other properties also ..

In the treatment of fatigue and other common health: Twice a day, 3 capsules
Increase of libido and sexual function: Twice a day, 4 capsules
Bodybuilders to achieve high testosterone level: Twice a day, 5 capsules.
Those quantities are far higher than Aazmaish suggestion.

this seems to more like a dietry suppliment/ food suppliment rather than a ED medicine ... mine was just two tablets in a packet (like cialis.. but smaller packet .. with a picture of men/women having intimacy ).. ut was rather expensive .. if i correctly remember about 2-3 $/ tablet ..
you may also shop around the Tongkat Ali for ED from any local pharmacy .. if u r Indonesia..
it does not seem appropriate for an ED tablet to b taken 3-4 in a day ..

James..........about the dosage of the Tongkat Ali, I would Not take that much. I am saying this from experience and research I have done. First, I would suggest not taking more than 200 mg to start, and if possible start with 100 mg. And, do not take it late in the day. I highly recommend taking it early in the day. It will keep you awake at night if you take it later in the day, and if you take too much, you will become Very Agressive and Irritable. Start with a low dose early in the day...............dplookin

Yesterday 7 PM was the second capsule.
I didn't experienced yet not elevated libido, it didn't effect my sleep, but yes, I think yesterday I was a little bit in aggressive mood.
From the other side the aggressiveness may be from stress as I am renovating my new house while living in already and have a lot of problems to solve.

James...I suggested taking it in the morning because it does cause Insomnia in most people if taken late in the day, and it does cause a person to be irritable and aggressive. It may depend on how much you take and the size of your body as to the type of side effects you may have. It does make me irritable and causes me to have sleeping problems. Just an update:
September 29 was my first capsule of Togkat Ali.
October 8, no any effect after taking one per day, after breakfast.
No aggressiveness, but also no other effect. 4 days already I am back on the 5 mg daily Cialis, in the evening.
Still need to take 25 mg Viagra for intercourse. The erections are far from 100%.
I will not make any changes now, as I will see a very good European urologist at 14. I will report after the visit.

i was also confused wd so many companies selling the ONLY original Tongkat Ali (on web )that i dropped the idea of buying it online (even though i was .....kind of hooked on Tongkat Ali for intercourse)..
the after affects of TA (Tongkat Ali)is not what manufacturer assured on net .. i was suspicious when u told u got one free bottle along with your purchase .. i will have to put lot of efforts to find the one which i bought , as to come back to u wd some positive information .

The main purpose of Tongkat Ali, I believe, is to raise the Testosterone Levels. It does work for a lot of people including myself. I also take Testofen at times. It is an extract of Fennugreek. Testofen raises the Testosterone levels also. Just FYI.........dplookin
My testosterone is 736 while 740 is the maximum in the range for my age (67).
So maybe don't have any reason to take it?

I tried Tongkat Ali - the real Indonesian stuff. Firstly, it's very expensive. Secondly, in my opinion, it is no more effective than cheaper alternatives. I have used Daa. I also use, organic Maca powder, Tribulus, and Testofen. Along with my gym work, I need no other assistance in getting hard as a rock.

I am living in Indonesia and bought the staff from the supplier that all the "big's" buying.
It just not affecting me at all (or maybe I just think so?).
With my level of venous leakages, no way I can have something "hard like a rock", doesn't matter what I will take or how many hours per day I will spend in the gym.

As you say, it is sometimes difficult to assess whether or not any of these testosterone building supplements work, or are just some kind of placebo effect. In my own case, Tongkat may have helped somewhat, but compared to less expensive options it seemed to be no more effective.
For me, the combination of improved lifestyle, vastly improved health, 4-5 days gym work per week, and the supplements I mentioned + ALC, have all made a major contribution to the correction of my ED problems. If I could just get rid of this damn curvature!!....
As you also say, venous leakage is a whole another problem.

A quick search seems to suggest that the major active ingredients are Tribulus Terrestris and Epimedium, also known as Horny Goat Weed.
As I do a lot of gym work, I have used Tribulus myself. I can't say that I noticed any significant boost in my performance. Epimedium is a herb from Chinese medicine, which personally I have not tried.
My conclusion would be that you can almost certainly buy and try those two major ingredients separately, and I would suspect, far cheaper. They are both claimed to increase the amount of testosterone the body produces.
Epimedium (Horny Goat Weed) is fun stuff, with a definite muscle-building boost. It also increases erections...possibly more than you'd like. For ED it would be one of my first stops. If you don't have ED, it might be overstimulating. I took Epimedium tea for a while just for anabolic purposes, but haven't revisited it in a couple of years. If you are looking for "herbal Viagra," I'd check it out.
My testosterone was very high before started Tongkat Ali.

Not to change the subject, but are you taking 5mg Cialis daily and then 25mg Viagra as needed? No side effects using both ED meds?
Yes, I have side effects, but I have no other option right now. Usually I am skipping the daily Cialis if I am taking the Viagra for intercourse.

I have recently tried higher dosages of tongkat ali 1:50 extract (still in combination with 50 mg of Viagra), and I am thoroughly impressed.
The dosage I used has been twice a day 2 gram of extract, taken in the morning and in the early afternoon, both times during a meal (as I cannot bear the taste of the tongkat ali without eating a few bites first, and after having swallowed the extract, mixed into half a cup of lukewarm water).
First, I feel no side effects whatsoever, even from the higher dosages.
Initially, tongkat ali extract caused me a kind of hot-headedness, but this is no longer the case. However, one trial participant reported that he vomited after he ingested 15 gram (a full sample package) in one go.
In that it doesn't cause unpleasant side effects, tongkat ali is different from all other herbal and pharmacological aphrodisiacs I tested. Yohimbe has the worst side effect profile, as it causes serious heart palpitations and doesn't allow me to sleep for at least 20 hours after having ingested it. Another side effect of yohimbe is diarrhea. And I had feedback from people who seriously thought they wouldn't make it to the next morning.
Dopaminergics are also not free of side effects. At a sufficiently high dosage all of them cause a low-level nausea as well as extreme sleepiness. Also, the pro-sexual effect of dopaminergics wears off pretty fast, unless very large dosages are consumed (e.g. by Parkinson's patients).
The tongkat ali, on the other hand, seems to become better and better the longer I use it.
The following are my observations on large dosages.
Unless I am in a sexual situation, I don't actually feel much. I'm probably a little bit energized, as after having two or three cups of tea. But that's about it.
When, after having used rather large dosages over two or three days, I have intercourse, I am extraordinarily focused. I can easily go on for 20 minutes, and nothing, really nothing, can disturb my attention.
Now, don't laugh: When in a tongkat ali cycle, I can receive and answer a telephone call during intercourse, and lose neither my (Viagra-aided, 50 mg) erection, nor my mental focus on the sexual activity I am engaging in.
This is in stark contrast to what happens on Viagra alone. On Viagra alone, I can produce an erection upon physical manipulation of the erectile organ.
But that doesn't mean that I would be focused on intercourse. If a telephone call disturbs Viagra-only intercourse, I certainly won't continue. Actually, it has happened to me more than once that on Viagra only, I just stopped in the middle of intercourse without having reached an orgasm, simply because I was not interested in achieving one. And that was without the phone ringing.
Now, that's pretty bad. It's definitely worse than an orgasm without an erection.
Yes, tongkat ali keeps my eyes totally on the road to an orgasm, no matter what happens around me. I best compare this sexual focus with the focus on hearing music after having smoked marijuana. When hearing music on marijuana, I can identify every musical instrument in a compound sound. And I can enjoy the music even if there is disturbing, unrelated noise around me.
With tongkat ali extract at sufficiently high dosages over several days (4 grams of extract per day), I can receive and answer a phone call without stopping rhythmic penetration (and enjoy it just the same).

Who is behind this link? The other links of reports are not working. The price I got was $US30 for 120 capsules, 1:200/300mg. Got free with the shipment 100 capsules of 1:50/400mg. In the link is stated that they are not supplying to Indonesia, but they supply me (I am living in Indonesia).
By the way the report about them is from January 2011, now is January 2015, no news in the subject.

Thanks NeoV for the link. Interesting indeed. I have no problem of of testosterone levels as I am just a few single digits bellow the maximum 740 for males over 50, but I have problem with night time and morning erection.
I don't know if it is because the Tongkat Ali (1:200/6*300 gr) or traction of 2 hours a day I had added a few days ago to my VED and low dose Cialis treatment, but in the last 3 nights/mornings I had "some" erection. Not wood hard, but encouraging as I don't have them for a long time.

I can take 3 grams of tongkat ali 1:200 a day. I can also take 100 mg of viagra. I cannot take 1 mg of yohimbine. Dosages depend on patients. That is why viagra comes as 25, 50, and 100 mg. And even the 25 mg require a prescription. 100 mg is generous for me, for another man, 25 mg are too much.

After taking 120 capsules of 300 mg, 1:200 extract and 100 capsules of 400 mg, 1:50 extract (8 capsules per day, finishes the 1:200 and followed by 1:50).
The effect on me, sadly, is nothing. :(
Maybe my source is not good, maybe my body don't react to this herbal ED drug, I don't know.
