Title: pentox and liver enzymes
Post by: Litani on March 25, 2015, 11:14:08 AM
I have been taking pentox form a year and a half.  The last 8 months I have been taking 6 pills a day (double).  Recently I went for a physical and my liver enzymes are mildly elevated.  I have heard that this may be a side affect of pentox but it is a very low percent.  Has anyone experienced this?

I have not experienced elevated liver enzymes, but after 18 months I experienced very frequent heavy flue. Stopped Pentox temporarily.
Did you made a full blood test? If yes, what were the other results?
If not, proposing you to make and see the results. You have written that you are on 6 pills a day in the last 8 months and Pentox weakening the immune system.

All the test results were good except for liver enzymes.  My AST was 44 instead of 40.  ALT, Alkaline Phosphatase, and Bilirubin were normal.

Everything else is normal.

hemoglobin is 15
platelets is 199

I did a complete Blood Count and leukocytes are not listed may it is under different name.  However, there are no other abnormalities in the results.

Litani

I have asked about leukocytes because one of the Pentox side effects is weakening the immune system.
Leukocytes levels can be reduced drastically by Pentox. The level should be in the range of 4,000 to 11,000. You can read more about in the link bellow:
White blood cell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_blood_cell)
My levels are always very high, unfortunately Pentox didn't reduced them :(
