I'm trying to build up my own knowledge base, preparatory to seeing my first urologist.
Can anyone tell me where the (various) values for the occurrence of Peyronies in the population come from, or post any references to source material ?
To say that 3% (or 10%) of the male population have Peyronies would be an impressive statistic if there was any evidence for it.
The Norfolk & Norwich Hospital that I shall be visiting presumably will see any referrals from the city of Norwich, population of males between the ages of 15 - 85+ in 2011 is ~56,000.
At 3%, this would represent ~1700 Peyronies cases ! Obviously, this isn't the figure of new cases each year, but would represent an enormous resource for research, and for building up experience for practitioners.
Needless to say, "under reporting" by sufferers will hide the true extent of the problem, but I'm hoping to get some idea from them as to their idea of how common it is.
