2020 brought new employment and new insurer. New insurer brought new fight for coverage. They don't want to cover Xiaflex treatment. There was fight with old insurer, too, but they got on board and I received 6 Xiaflex treatment rounds in 2019. The treatments are producing improvement, albeit slowly.
New insurer limits the quantity of treatment cycles based on whether patient has "closed column" or "open column" (4 treatment cycles v. 8 treatment cycles). As of yet, the insurer has not defined these terms related to "column." It's not possible to ask my doctor, because he is on a well deserved vacation. It's also not been possible to find definitions on the internet or in our forum. Hence, the request above.
Don't know the answer to that one. My insurer covered the Xiaflex then when that didn't work they chose not to cover "sexual treatment" or Where there was a "choice" when specialist surgeon recommended surgery.
I was furious and quite distressed - 120 degree upward curve pressing against my abdomen didnt seem like a choice to me - and why could they cover xaiflex and not the surgery?
Fortunately I was able to proceeded anyway but. have appealed their decision.
Columns were never mentioned so sorry I'm no help there. Hope you get sorted and covered.
