Title: FIRST TIME POST
Post by: SANDSPIKE62 on August 15, 2018, 11:23:12 AM
New and first timer on this forum.  I'm a senior guy having recently turned 69.  On my last visit to my PCP for a physical checkup I ask about the lump in my penis near the base as he did the usual hernia check while I turned my head and coughed. It was a lump and I felt it needed addressing.   Having a flacid penis he did a brief feel and replied back with this comment....'it's called peyronies disease and caused by rough sex'.  Nothing more so I was left kind of perplexed but did some research on this and eventually found this site.  I do have a lump near the base and from what I've gathered from various websites my condition is probably known as an 'hour glass deformity'......I'm hoping to share and maybe find other guys that might be able to help me understand what my options might be.  I'm healthy and have the normal desire for heterosexual sex and I'm not celibate but I've never knowingly had an injury to my penis.   I do masturbate on occasion when coitus is not readily available to me.  Hope this information is not off color or offensive to anyone.

Not liking how your Dr just dismissed it as Peyronie's from rough sex.  Kind of callous to me.  Wish more Dr's would be more supportive to us with this condition, as it is mentally and physically debilitating. Welcome, and I as I'm sure many here are here to support you

Good to get a reply back....I didn't go into a lot of detail about my condition and I'm thinking it's improved slightly and I will most likely give my Dr. another chance and see if I get the same response.    The web can often lead you astray on medical conditions.   This one seemed legit and of course this is a very personal thing to discuss.   I'm not married now and even if I were I'm not sure if I would have discussed it with my wife.   I've not had sexual relations since this thing started up but I realize there might come a time.   I really would like to be able to discuss it more frankly and openly with someone who might be having the same or similar issue as mine.  So that being said I'm fairly certain I'm experiencing what is referred to as an 'hour glass' penis when I get an erection.  The scar tissue seems to be near the base when the penis is in a flaccid state but as the blood flow and erection begins the base although hard does not increase in circumference for about an inch from the base or pelvic area.  There is minimal pain and I'm sure vaginal intercourse could be achieved.  I've searched for some images that show my issue but so far I've found none.

I've heard of the hourglass issue and I believe there are pictures on this forum of it.  I have a dent and a curve as opposed to hourglassing.  Hope your Doctor is more understanding next time.  If not, I'd look for another opinion.  I did, as the first urologist told me there was nothing really I could do.  My current Doctor was very aggressive towards treatment, and got me on Xiaflex immediately.  Hope is out there, just need to find the right avenue.

Sounds like you've caught it early.  Maybe get on pentox, daily low dose cialis/tadalafil and traction or VED to hopefully stop further progression and resolve the hourglassing.
