My urologist is leaving my penile implant inflated during my recovery period. Why is he doing this?
So as to not lose size. When do you return?
Different strategies to approach the procedure. Make sure you follow his instructions but also read up on other diaries and how other doctors manage the recovery period so you can be better informed.
Does he plan to deflate you halfway through?
I guess the only danger of this could be if the reservoir would get encapsulated somehow and wouldn't be able to inflate fully.
I'm sure there was a reason for leaving it inflated that would override other possibilities?
Hi Twistedoutofshape
Welcome.
You haven't given us much information to go on. When did you have your implant surgery? For what reason? Etc ...
I was mplanted and left totally inflated for 9 days before seeing my surgeon again. This happened to me as my peyronies bend was so bad that my surgeon, Mr Fraser, wanted to give it a good and proper stretch after surgery.
Let us know the details for better advice. Also, as Pfract said, take time to read the other journals of implanted members. They are gold dust.
The idea is to maximize size, to stop scare tissue forming in your penis.
I had surgery on October 16 and I return on November 5. I don't know if he plans to deflate me. I had a penis fracture 3 years ago. I also had a drug induced priapism 2 years before that. I tried everything trental, Cialis, VED, gainswave, stem cells. You name it and finally I just decided to do an implant. I wish I had done it sooner.
hey man! with a penile fracture and a priapism..... no chance your erections wouldn't be severely affected. Congrats for taking the plunge!
Most likely he'll deflate on the 5th and you'll start your cycling.
Why did he leave it only partially inflated?
Fully inflated right after surgery can be quite painful. Partial gives some stretch until cycling can begin.
As Tony indicated, some doctors send men home deflated and start cycling in 4 days. Some send them home fully inflated. Some send them home simi-inflated. Many men who are fully inflated are counting the hours until deflation. It can be a painful process.
If your penis is fully deflated you can scar to a smaller size. If fully inflated your reservoir capsule can scar in too small and you can never fully deflate. Cycling early solves both of those but being partially inflated is probably a compromise and as long as you start cycling early you should be fine.
Hey, my penis was particularly inflated when I came home. I didn't go back for my follow up for about 10 days. I had no problems. I think each doctor does things differently based on the situation. I am 8 months now with my "new" penis and my wife and I are enjoying it big time.
It's a slow process, but as others have said, read everyone's past posts. They are very helpful.
Be patient and be sure to inflate daily, once your doctor approves it.

Ok so after my appointment when he deflated me, he told me to go home and inflate it. I did that for like an hour and then deflated and went to bed. When I woke up to cycle it didn't go up like it had last night. Did I mess this up. Was I supposed to leave it inflated all night?
Usually the doc says cycle (inflate) and hold for a time period such as 30-60 minutes once or twice a day. You do need it deflated overnight so as to not have scar tissue result in restricting the size of the reservoir which can result in auto fill. It takes time to get used to filling and deflating—you e we I'll get the hang of it!
Can I take viagra during the healing process?
Hey bud, could you put your stats in your signature, so we know a little about you without having to read all the way back to the beginning?
But about the Viagra, I don't know why you would want to take Viagra while in the healing process?
I guess it could allow for more blood flow to the penis, or enlarge the penis head, if you were aroused, but I would ask your doctor. I so far haven't read about anyone taking Viagra once the implant is in.
Good luck and let us know what your doctor says for future reference....or perhaps someone else might know.
How is your pain and are you managing to pump every day?

I'll set a signature when I can get to a computer. I'm having trouble with my smartphone. Does a penile implant completely replace the corporal tissue? Does it all turn to scar tissue?
The implant just moves aside the corporal tissue and is not removed. I do not believe it creates scar tissue. After an implant one who needed PDE5i for glans and corpus spongiosum engorgement will still need it as the implant only inflates the corpus canernosum.
Hey Twistedoutofshape. You've been cycling now a couple of days? How's the pain? How long do you inflate for? There was some outstanding advice on this forum for me from the guys when I was left fully inflated for the first 9 days. How's it going?
The pain is fine. It mostly shows up when I cycle. Does anyone know if a vitamin d deficiency can contribute to Erectile Dysfunction?
Twistedoutof Shape,
I will update your signature line if you will post answers to these questions.
Had a penis fracture 3 years ago. I also had a drug-induced priapism 2 years before that. I tried everything trental, Cialis, VED, gainswave, stem cells. Nothing worked.
Surgery on October 16 .
Who was your surgeon?
What model of implant did you get?
Did you have a penoscrotal surgery or a pubic approach?
Was your original problem just ED or did you have some degree of Peyronies Disease? If you had Peyronies Disease what was the extent.
Having this info in your signature line will help you and us a lot.
Dr McBride. Coloplast titan 22 cm. I believe peniscrotal approach. ED and Peyronies 60 degree curve.
After the implant how did the curve change?
Well I allowed him to do plication and I made a big mistake.
He did plication at the same time he did an implant ???
Who can do a revision surgery?
Revision of implant?
Twistedoutofshape: hey twisted! is there any chance you can give us more details of whats going on? there are definitely doctors we can point out to you for a revision surgery.
Twistedoutofshape - We would like to help but giving one or two sentence posts does not begin to give us the information we need.
What is your issue?
Why do you think you need a revision?
What kind of revision (implant, plication, grafting, undoing plication ???)
Are you able and willing to travel?
You still never answered my last question of whether your surgeon did a plication and implant in the same surgery or if not, when was each done?
Let's use these posts to communicate so you can help us help you!
He did plication and an implant at the same time. I want the plications out. When I asked his nurse said he won't do it. I'm really up a creek. I should never have trusted him. He kept warning of permanent nerve damage.
I am willing to travel and it's way shorter than he said.
Hang in there twistedoutofshape, I know you will find a solution and I'm very sorry about your bad experiences.
Thank you godisreal and hawk give me some advice when you can please.
Try and cycle maxed out every day for at least 30 mins if possible. Post implant surgery I measured myself at 5.5 inches erect, which was worrying for me since I used to be longer. By cycling every day I am now 6.5 so have gained a full inch back again within 5 months. This can only be from stretching out that tissue which had become damaged and contracted. So keep the faith my friend. You can get your length back if you commit to a routine.
I would agree with Roddy's advice. There is no rush at this point. I agree that Dr. Eid in Manhattan or Dr. Kramer in Baltimore would have almost certainly never done a plication with a Titan implant. We have guys here that had 90 degree bends fixed with just an implant. Dr. Eid has corrected almost 180-degree bend with nothing but an implant, some relaxing incisions, and hand modeling.
You cannot know your ultimate size until you cycle 1 hour daily for at least 3 months. That can be divided into 2 - 30 minute sessions. Even then you will not be to the maximum size but it will be close enough that you will know about what the end result will be.
This is why we encourage all men to read our member implant journals, ask questions, and assess the surgeon with our recommended assessment questions before choosing.
Well can I get surgery to remove the plications and refit the implant? From what you know do you think that will possible at any point?
It is physically possible. The questions are:
1. What will you gain
2. Will insurance pay
3. Will a top-ranking surgeon do the surgery if the only gain is 1/2 in length.
Give it 3 months of diligent cycling, evaluate the progress and if totally unsatisfied have a video consultation with Dr. Eid for $300 out of pocket.

Watch Kramer's videos he will pilcate after the cylinders are in. Some vids he does a grafting as well. If your paying out of pocket you get full treatment for 25K .
As I understand it Kramer is mostly using AMS now. AMS cylinder do NOT have the straightening force of Titan cylinders. A 180-degree bend can be straightened without plication or grafting in the hands of a skilled surgeon.
Here is an example https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPCiwuLEx05gi7oN8A3veJ-TY06NRfzhBshJXLRZMVDUDH7-T4vEl6iD-ohHEufXw?key=cWJ5RDhvYTY4NnRKQ1JTeTNhT0xTWnhIWWN2NWV3
Great example Hawk. There is a residual curve but as it's upwards some may consider it ideal for intercourse. What residual curve does Dr Eid tell patients to usually expect?
Is there really an increased risk of erosion if it is not straight?

The other reason not mentioned is to ensure that the implant doesn't have any bends or folds in it. It must be able to fully inflate. Most likely he fully inflated you during surgery. If you cycle regularly, you can gain size. I gained quite a bit of length and girth with the AMS LGX (which stands for Length, Girth, Expansion). I have attached a before and after as testimonial to the AMS LGX and implants in general. :)
Tony, keep in mind that the residual curve you see is during the very first inflation on the surgical table. There is no doubt that most of that curve disappeared over the next 3 months.
Wow, very encouraging. I'm convinced Titan is the way to go for peyronies!
I called dr Kramer and he said he can remove plications and potentially resize the implant but he obviously won't discuss that until at least 3 months after. I'm curious though has anyone on here done something like that?
I do not recall anyone with an implant reversing a plication.

I have been cycling at least twice daily for two years (on Dec 14th). I am actually more than twice the size I was before the surgery and much thicker... my wife actually says that it hurts sometimes. I was sent home about 60% inflated. That wasn't too bad for discomfort.
