Title: PEYRONIE’S Symptoms & Confirmation
Post by: santos on October 20, 2009, 09:25:20 PM
I'll cut to the chase because I'm in semi-panic mode.

I'm 25 and have recently started using a stimulant drug that causes vasoconstriction, Focalin.  It helps me study and it makes me feel good. So the other night I decided to more than the usual dose, then a little more, then some more.  My penis shriveled up very small and I couldn't easily get an erection.  When I got an erection it was the normal size, but when I wasn't erect my penis was cold and small. After fooling around like this for a few hours I realized I may be causing serious problems. I put a warm compress on it to increase blood flow and that helped.  This morning it was small and a good portion of my penis feels harder all around.  Not like a specific spot or calcified plaque, it's just like the tunica albuginea is less elastic. Things got better throughout the day and I noticed when my body is warmer my penis looks better overall. I got hard once and it looked pretty normal, but I notice my penis head is a cold sometimes and the TA is less elastic, sorta hard, but can still fill with blood and give me an erection (I think).

(1) what should I be doing RIGHT NOW?  Oral remedies? Creams? What???

(2) Any clue what happened?  I'm thinking lack of oxygen to that area really messed something up, I hope it's not permanent.

Thanks, please help!

Santos.

santos,

other forum members are better qualified than me to address your issue, but from what I've learned here, a flaccid penis' appearence can change throughout the day for many legitimate and normal reasons.

You've come to a conclusion based on a "cause and effect" situation from the focalin.  I don't even know what that is, but maybe you're making a plausible argument.

In any event, the supplement L-arginine will make a flaccid penis feel and look fuller.

Use the forum's search feature to read about it....oh, I suggest clicking on the magnifying glass icon to the left of the search box, enter the term "L-arginine" in the left box and enter one of the following member names in the right box "hawk, george999, or tim488."

Based on what they say about this supplement, it should help.  I use it and I notice the difference.

Um, stop using the stimulant?  ???

Where should I get L-arginine?  GNC?  Which brand or spectrum?

Should I consider any other vasodilator or anti-inflam?  I've been taking Ibuprofen throughout the day and large amounts of Vit E.

I was able to achieve an erection this morn. It wasnt as hard as usual, but I was in the shower, tired, and I feel very sick. So.... I dont know what to think

Thanks for the help

I would STOP taking the stimulant, and (if a urologist suggests so) START taking trental, l-arginine and viagra for a while. The first and last of which are prescription medications. If you cut off bloodflow and oxygen to your penis for a long period, it may not be an entirely dissimiliar situation to priapism, where damage caused can sometimes be reversed by use of the drugs mentions.

It's possible that everything will be fine, but you should go see a doctor, be honest about what has happened and avoid making similiar mistakes in future.

If one has similar symptoms as Peyronies(abnormal curvature of penis, penile pain, etc), but no plaque(based on several urologists' examinations) is it still considered Peyronies?  I was reading in a book which stated that there is a form of Peyronies where plaque is not physically detected.  How is this form of Peyronies treated?

Its really all the same thing.  Plaque is the result of inflammation.  The inflammation can be acute and at times painful and this will typically produce a lump in the area where the plaque is being formed.  But it can also be chronic and subliminal with no detectable lump, but nevertheless capable of forming plaque.  Its all treated the same way.  - George

Snowy,

I believe that I have this exact condition. I have had hourglass deformities and upwards curve since my early adolescence. Went to 5 Uros, including Dr. Lue, and none of them can feel plaque. I have also had an ultrasound with no abnormalities. So I have to assume that I don't have a plaque, yet everything isn't all good. This is a weird limbo of frustration. My theory is that there is no "plaque free" Peyronies Disease; there is the easily detected and the hidden. What Peyronies Disease suffers need is a definite diagnostic tool - something that picks up Peyronies Disease in all cases. I bet the percentage of men with confirmed plaque would jump to a substantial percentage. I think Peyronies Disease is more common than people know - most live with it without knowing and the unfortunate few on this site know all too well...

Looks like I may have PDS.  After an injury about a month or so ago, I really have a good bend, like pointing to my left shoulder. And painful. Pain has subsided somewhat.  Before that it was just a big curve. Had the curve for years. I'm really getting discouraged. I went to the uro about the pain, before the big bend showed up. Came out of the uros office with lavitra and vitamin e and "get on some blood  pressure medicine".  Not really happy with that visit. Think I'll try another urologist. When first googling peyronies, seems I was directed to the fastsize site.  I guess maybe we all know about that device. Not sure how many uros recommend this product. The bad bend started this week, so I don't know if I should buy this right away and start using it or do the wait and see approach. Does anyone out there know of a good uro in Atlanta that will treat this condition?  Any help about anything would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure this condition can weigh very heavy on your brain.

Title: Worried - need answers
Post by: ALONTBSOL on January 23, 2010, 07:00:45 PM
Hi i'm a newbie to the forum.  I found a small lump in my penis just behind the glans a few months ago and got it checked out about a month ago as it was causing concern and a little pain.  The doctor said it wasn't cancer, just some fibrous tissue, probably caused by some trauma (i don't remember any trauma!).

Anyway, i wasn't really happy with the explanation and after looking around the internet i find myself here.
So firstly i need to know if this is the first stage of Peyronies?

If so, will having erections make things worse and so best avoided, or should i start masturbating 6 times a day to somehow increase bloodflow, or whatever?
I understand that everyones symptoms and progression are different but i would like to know what is best to do at this early stage?
Also, this lump/ball just behind my glans...is it plaque, or is it some swelling phase, or what?

There are some real horror stories on here and i am rather scared shitless at the moment so could you also tell me if anyone knows how bad this gets for most people and what is an extreme case?
Could it be that a 30 degree bend is about average and over 50 is seen as extreme, or is 50 normal and over 85 extreme, or stuff like that.

Note, i was circumcised as a teenager as i had a constricting band of tissue that prevented my foreskin from retracting and my father and his brother both had treatment for Dupuytren's, so i guess i had it coming!

The consensus around here seems to be that roughness should be avoided. Increasing bloodflow most think good. Some do it by viagra and the like; I use the pycnogenol/l-arginine combo.

About how far your Peyronies Disease will progress, I don't think it's possible to say.

First off... Don't assume you have Peyronies Disease. We can't speculate if this is in a first stage or not. The first stage of Peyronies Disease is called the acute phase meaning it is active. The best thing you can do at this point is simply monitor your situation and watch for any other signs.

For now, don't do anything than you would normally. Maintaining blood flow is good, but masterbating 6 times a day sounds excessive to me. Assuming you are young and healthy you are probably getting several erections a day already.

Again... we don't know. If you doctor said it is fibrous tissue, then I would assume just that. Peyronies Disease affects each of us in different ways so it is just too difficult to tell at this point. And again I will repeat that you should not assume you have or are getting Peyronies Disease at this point. There has been some association to Deputyn's Contracture, but still not enough evidence to say everyone he has DC will get Peyronies Disease.

You have done well to do some research and to educate yourself on Peyronies Disease. In the meantime carefully monitor yourself and watch for other symptoms. The first to watch for could b pain, beginning of curvature, or an increase in the size of the lump. Hopefully whatever you have is temporary and will go away.

Firstly, thanks for the replys!
Secondly i should say that i am fast approaching 40 years old and, although still reasonably young, 6 times a day was just to make the point!
I accept that this is really too early to tell if what i have is Peyronies Disease or not.  Really all i want to know is if there is anything i could do to help, or at least not make things worse, for if it is Peyronies Disease.
I guess that there has simply not been enough studies done so far to answer the question, so i'll just be careful for a bit and see what happens.

I do have a question that doesn't apply to me, but maybe will to someone else and i'd like to know out of interest.  There is a lot of talk about Pentox.  Is this a preventative treatment, or is it used to make things better after things have settled down.  Also is it available in the UK?

Pentox is a conservative treatment used for Peyronie's. It may be preventative, but for users who already have it, it helps by breaking down scar tissue and increasing blood flow. It is available in the UK. There is a UK doctor who utilizes the forum and hopefully will see this post. There is also a subforum on pentox located under oral treatments.

Pentox can be taken even if you have peyronies already, such as in my case, it will still help you, but the degree depends on your case, and how long you have had it.  One fellow on here told me he took pentox and it did nothing for him, but I've heard many people tell me it helped them.  Right now I'm creating my own therapy, which is doing VED daily to stretch out my tissue, and soon I will stop that and start pentox aggressively, I just finished a 9 month course of it 1 month ago and am taking a slight break before I go back on it for a longer course, of probably 1 year or more.

Recently i noticed that when i get hard i have a small little lump, little smaller than the head of a match, its on the right side of the shaft as if u were looking down at your erection...
Its only there while penis is erect, and sometimes its hard to find.
It seems to move a little if i move my finger around on it... Its been there about two months , has not changed in size, no pain, no change in penis, but its still there!

I went to the doctor last week, he says theres nothing to worry about at all, just a bit of calcification, thats the word that worries me!!
He says it will go away over time......

Have any of u had the sme symptoms before being diagnosed with peyronies? i know two people with it but they said the lump was not moveable, and was bigger.....

I dont want to spend 300 euro to go to uroligist if i might be jumping the gun

Any help would be appreciated, im getting married in 5 months and all the stress is killing me.

The doctor will probably know better than any of us, but it could be anything. The questions you need to ask are, is there any pain? Is there any curvature? Is it uncomfortable during intercourse?

It could be muscle tenderness, pulled tissue, or a small blood clot. At this point, it really could be anything. You might want to monitor it and maybe start 400 mg of vitamin E per day, which does sooth the area (but doesn't help for peyronie's.)

As far as I know, someone correct me if I am wrong, the ONLY way to identify calcification with any certainty is with some sort of imaging, usually ultrasound.  Simply feeling is notoriously unreliable.  Non-calcified inflammatory plaques associated with Peyronie's can be rock hard.  My advice would definitely be to see a urologist, BUT if you can tell us what country you are in, perhaps someone here from the same place can recommend a good uro to help you with this, since a lot of them are next to useless when it comes to Peyronie's issues.  Any lump on the penis should cause you to find a doctor who can give you a positive diagnoses, not just say that its calcification, don't worry about it.  I definitely would NOT take that for an answer.  - George

I would not stress out over what you ahve described so far. It may have nothing to do with Peyronies Disease. My reason for this is your comment:

You should be able to determine if this "little lump" is in the skin that covers your penis as opposed to being in the tunica which is the tough tissue sheath the surronds your penis under the skin. If this lump is in your skin, then it likely could be nothing and could go away over time. By all means don't stress over it, but just monitor it for any changes.

Very perceptive Les.  I missed that.  I agree with your assessment.  Sounds like it might be a skin anomaly not a calcification.  - George
Title: Peyronies?
Post by: goodear on March 27, 2010, 10:15:23 AM
My urologist suggested that I may have Peyronies disease for the following symptoms.
At the moment before orgasm, a short pain, not excrusciating though, but a pain nevertheless, in the head of the penis. It occurs at the last big "expansion" before orgasm, and may occur with the first few contractions of orgasm, then it goes away. No pain during foreplay or after ejaculation. Just at the moment of orgasm. This condition makes me leery of having sex. I am 60 and have never had any such problem. This started about two months ago after some trauma to the penis and a blood spot appeared at the surface of the penis shaft. The blood spot disappeared within three weeks.

My urologist says this condition will result in a bent penis rarely and that I can expect it to go away in about 6 months. Has anyone had something like this, and how did it resolve? Thanks!

I'm not sure that it's typical for peyronie's disease to be associated with pain at the point of orgasm, or specifically in the head of the penis - I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong. It is at least encouraging that you don't suffer pain at any other time. Your comment about trauma two months ago could hint at peyronie's though. Did your urologist simply do a physical examination or anything more extensive? If you do have peyronie's disease the your urologists assessment that it rarely results in curvature, and even if it does, it goes away after six months is not accurate. I don't you should get a second opinion and get to the bottom of this. That way, if it is peyronie's, or might be, you can begin treatments that may help you.
Title: Is this Peyronies?
Post by: NamelessHero on June 30, 2010, 11:13:03 PM
Twenty years ago, when I was 18, I fractured my penis. It bent to the left, with stinging pain. Ever since then, I have experienced mild pain during sexual activities, as well as a continual loss of length and girth. I went to my General Practitioner, but he did not believe me, said it was in my head, and then gave me some Viagra. (I no longer go to that doctor...) He said he could not feel any plaques...

I was 7 inches or so, and big enough around that it was like a tube of toothpaste. Only Magnum condoms would fit. Now, 20 years later I am lucky to get 4 inches, and it is quite narrow.

In any case, the issue seems to be the location of the plaques. I can only feel them when I have an erection, and they are deep inside my abdomen, beneath my scrotum. They are like a spiral, on both sides. Can peyronie's be treated if it is not along the external shaft of the penis? They really are deep inside, near the penile bone. Any thoughts?

Also, do I have to go to a GP in order to go to a specialist?
Title: Re: Is this Peyronies?
Post by: newguy on July 01, 2010, 12:05:44 AM
My first thought is that trying vacuum therapy (or possibly traction) might be useful to you. Many men have regained some length this way and if the plaques are at the base of below they may still benefit from the pull of the VED. From your description it sounds as if you've lost length over a great many years. Is that a accurate statement? I would hope that at least embarking on a treatment might prevent additional loss. Taking pentoxifylline could be helpful too.
Title: Re: Is this Peyronies?
Post by: NamelessHero on July 01, 2010, 12:47:36 AM
Yeah, it has been a long gradual decline. Can they do injections down below the base?
Title: Re: Is this Peyronies?
Post by: newguy on July 01, 2010, 06:21:54 PM
I'm not sure how common it is to have peyronie's in such an area. I would imagine that it could be very tricky to inject in such a case, but I'm far from being an expert on that. Use of the VED or a traction device could possibly help to stretch areas even if it is within your body. As your condition appears to have been in decline for some years, I would say that using such a device, and taking pentoxifylline would be a good starting point. After 6 months or so, you may be in a position to tell whether that strategy has 1) not helped or 2) stablised your condition or 3) improved your condition.

Title: Worried about my husband...
Post by: Worriedwife on July 08, 2010, 12:05:54 PM
I got back from a trip last night, and my husband voiced a concern about strange "indentations" on his erect penis. I, trying to assure him it was nothing, googled it and came upon "peyronies disease" and have not got us both concerned. He is 28, I'm 27- after researching it sounds like he may have the "hourglass" indentations. He's only noticed it very recently, he's also had occasional pain during an erection or orgasm... I never thought anything of it as he didn't act like it was crazy painful or seem concerned so I just thought that was "normal". We have never had any other sexual partners, so I have nothing to compare to. He's always had a slight curve, but again, thought it was normal "hanging a little to the left". You can't really see the indents by looking, but by feeling, and now that I read about the hard "plaque" he says he can feel something in there. He's never had any erectile disfunction, and never had any issues with orgasms, but again- I have nothing to compare it to... So not sure I would know if anything was "abnormal". I just feel so awful wondering if I was too rough at some point and caused this... I never knew anything like this could happen. Now I'm worried about hurting him more.... We are going to see a urologist... But in the meantime... Should we refrain, or just be gentle? Does "girl on top" position tend to cause this? Because that's one of our fav positions and I need to know if that, or anything else should be avoided. If this is just the first "phase" could his penis go on to get the curvature in addition to the hourglass indents, and does the hourglass tend to cause erectile disfunction down the road? I am just so fearful of the prospect of not being able to take care of my man... I know this has to be so much more scary for him- how can I support and encourage him thru this sensitive issue? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks-

Worriedwife,

I got this disease at a young age as well (29) and having the support of my wonderful wife was one of the key things that has gotten me through this. Here are some things you might want to consider:

1. Many urologists do not have a thorough understanding of Peyronie's disease. You will probably need to get a referral to a male sexual health specialist urologist, such as Dr. Tom Lue in San Francisco or Dr. Laurence Levine in Chicago. These aren't the only two specialist, but many here on the forum have seen them. I went to Dr. Lue last year and it was a very positive experience.

2. Ask the urologist for a prescription for pentoxifylline. This is a medication that helps stop the inflammation that causes the formation of scar tissue and can help reduce the pain associated with the disease. Pentoxifylline has not been tested in large studies, but several prominent urologists have done limited studies on it. You can find two such studies here: https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,772.0.html  You should print these out and take them to the urologist.

I was on pentox for abut 8 months. It completely got rid of my pain although it did not reverse any physical changes. (My physical changes are relatively minor, fortunately).

3. This is not your fault AT ALL. But having said that, be cautious during sex until your husband has been to the urologist. Don't do anything that causes pain for your husband and use lots of lubrication. Many urologists will discourage girl on top due to the propensity for injury. It is important to note that getting erections is a GOOD THING and that your husband should not worry about having them. Good blood flow promotes healing. In fact, the urologist may prescribe low dose Cialis or viagra to maintain good erectile quality even if your husband does not have erectile dysfunction.

4. Have your husband come to the forum and learn all he can about the disease. Overcoming this disease will take the both of you working together. I know it's scary right now but things will improve as time passes by (it did for my wife and me). It's possible that your husband has a mild case that will result in nothing more than a few indentations and some unpleasant memories. Getting treatment early helps prevent inflammation and the formation of more scar tissue. It's this scar tissue that causes curvature and deformity (hourglassing) because the penile tissues do not expand properly. Proactive early treatment is very important.

I'm sorry you and your husband have to deal with this but this forum will provide ample information and support during this difficult time. Best of luck and feel free to ask questions any time.

-Skjaldborg

Thank you so much for your response! I am feeling encouraged because after reading alot of these posts, I do feel that this is the "early stages" or perhaps a mild case??? It seems the indenting is up towards the head of the penis, and like I said, he doesn't have any problems with erections or orgasm... he just noticed things seemed "different". I don't think the pain is bad, or often even~ but if getting on pentox is beneficial to avoid a worsening of symptoms etc than that's what we will do. My husband was really freaked out at first, but seems to now be feeling ok and positive that everything will be ok. We have very open communication and I tend to be the "researcher" and very diligent to get the best infomation so I really feel confident we will get thru this just fine....  My only fear is if things get alot worse and prevent us from having sex.... I just can't imagine how hard that would be on our relationship. I just know how important connecting sexually is in a marriage (more importantly for the man, more emotionally for the woman). I am contacting a local urologist referred off of a "Peyronie's disease" website... hopefully the dr will be educated, if not, we may be taking a trip to CA. (We are in WA)
It is hard not to feel responsible, but honestly~ it's not like we have CRAZY WILD sex.. I mean, I'm adventurous and passionate, but I would imagine that many more people would be dealing with this in this day and age. Anyways, thanks again for your response. It's nice to be able to talk to someone about it... it's not like I can talk to a girlfriend about it. :(
Title: Re: Worried about my husband...
Post by: LWillisjr on July 08, 2010, 07:26:57 PM
I echo Skjald's responses. Many of us don't know when or what caused the trauma to trigger our Peyronies. The main thing is to just be aware and keep track of any further changes. Many men are not aware of this "disease" until we got it ourselves.

Yes woman on top (or cowgirl) was one of our favorite positions as well. But the specialists will caution against it as it makes men more susceptible to trauma. i.e. if you move one way and he does another and slips..........

Also, has the pain you mentioned always been there, or is it recent. If your husband has always had occasional pain then this is likely not associated with any recent Peyronies disease.

Also... the "hanging to the left"...  if this is while flacid then is completely normal. Any curvature related to Peyronies is identified or measure while erect. And even at that many men have a slight curve (since birth) which is also normal.

You are wise for raising your own awareness and monitoring any further progression.

I noticed the dents first, then it became curved and it started to worsen.  The dents were the first thing I noticed though.  He might be in an early phase where treatments like pentox & a VED (vacuum erection device) would help expand the plaque and stop the problem. A device called fastsize may also help.  Now might be the best time to intervene --  10% cases improve...40% stay the same, 40% get worse.  (roughly... I think my numbers are a little off but that's close).

Hello everyone,

Would somebody tell me please how do you recognize peyronies disease? I am reading this forum for a while and I still can't say if I have peyronies disease. My penis doen'st hurt, there is no swellings or something abnormal on it. It is bent to the left when its erected, if its soft it looks quiet normal I guess, straight. I can get erection easily, I do have quiet irregular ejaculations though, sometimes it takes "ages", sometimes as quick as in a minute. I am 20 now and I think my penis was straight when I was younger(until 15 I think, but I am not sure). Even if it's hard I can "make it straight again" with my fingers and if I hold it like that, it looks totally staright. I have noticed that the left side of the glans is slighty "higher" than the right one just near the frenulum and the frenulum it's self is directed to the right(it doesn't go straight down on the shaft). I am uncircumsized. I can easily pull my foreskin down, but when my penis is erected it doesn't go much further than the corona of the glans, like the frenulum was a little bit too short or like I had too much of the foreskin, but I think its quiet normal when you are uncircumsized. Is it possible to recognize, based on my "describtion" either I have peyronises disease or not? and if not is there anything to cure the curvature? like some exercises maybe or would the heat theraphy help with it as well? I read somewhere, even seen a video on youtube I guess(don't know anymore) that because of masturbation or actually "overdoing masturbation" it can cause shifting of the penis columns so it gets bent.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am waiting for your reactions

best regards

Hi

Based on your age, I would say it's congenital curvature. Since you aren't doing tri-mix injections or didn't mention any trauma, I don't think you have Peyronies. Especially since you can easily make it straight when you are hard.

My peyronies does allow me to make myself straight but not easily. I have to really push areas hard to get rid of the curve.

I'm sure others will weigh in with their perceptions....

Here is an example of where it is difficult to assess based on what you have shard so far. Because we all have different perceptions of what it means to be "bent to the left when erected". I will offer the following three examples and I'm sure there are more.

1. One's erection could be straight along the shaft but the angle it leaves the body is to the left instead of straight. Imagine looking down from the top of your head towards your feet and you expect to see this |  but instead you see   \. This would likely not be Peyronies Disease in my opinion and would probably simply be congenital and the way you are made. As long as sex/intercourse offers no problems then don't worry about it.

2. One could have a curve to the left. Again looking down from above you would expect to see this  |  but instead you see  ).  This is referred too as a "banana" shape or curve. Again this is likely congenital meaning you were born/made this way. As long as your curve is not too severe and your partner doesn't complain, then don't worry about it.

3. Another curve to the left could be this type. Again you expect to see  | but instead you see >  (Sorry for the graphics but is the best I can do). This is referred too as an acute curve. The penis starts out straight at some angle from the body, and then has a "sudden" curve in some direction. And likely this occurred at at some point later in life. This would be symptomatic of Peyronies Disease.

Thank you for your reactions, hb and Iwillisjr,

I don't have any trauma, definitely. Well, I have to use some pressure on the sides of my shaft to make it straight(when it's very hard),the required pressure drops down when it's "more softer". Iwillisjr, it looks like your second description. Kind of "banana" shape, indeed. I didn't hear girls complaining about it so far and I don't feel anything suspicious myself.

As everyone here, I would like to make it straight, of course. I have read a lot about the stretching exercises and there are different opinions on it, some people say it's good, some it's bad. A while ago, I even ordered an ebook from penis-curvature-correction.com On this website, there are some pictures(before and after),my curvature looks like on the picture. I tried the exercises and everything what's it this ebook sounds quiet "logic" but I had some questions and I have sent some emails to the "author", I didn't get any response, so I have doubts about it now. I have read about the heat therapy as well, with infrared lamp and vitamin d. It sounds interesting.

If I don't have Peyronies disease, would it help for my curvature, the heat therapy? and do you recommend the exercises?

wish you all a great day

best regards

If you are more "banana shaped", and you have had this as long as you can remember, then you likely have a congenital curve. This means you were born with it. Everything I have read implies that only surgery can correct a congenital curve. And surgery would only be recommended in extreme cases.

If it doesn't cause you any problems, and it doesn't cause your partner any problems, then I wouldn't worry about. I would guess that few guys are "perfectly straight" anyway. Just assume it is normal for you.

Title: What activity or therapies might impact the very early stages of scar tissue dev
Post by: rovert on August 19, 2010, 11:04:49 AM
Hello,

I am grateful for this site and all the support it offers.  I believe I am in the early stages of Peyronies disease.  I am 39 years old with a family and two young boys.  1 1/2 weeks ago I injured the glans of my penis.  The injury was a combination of events that ultimately led to a distinct feeling of a snap just under the urethra, sudden loss of erection and a feeling of something sliding away.  There was burning at that point as well as pin prick type pain around various points of the rim of my glans.  3 days after this event,  I formed an erection and suddenly felt what I can only describe as fascia or sheath disconnect from my glans and begin to slide downward.  Terrified of the situation I left it alone.  another 3 days passes and I decide to again check how an erection might form.  At this point, the erection could not form because of a tight constriction around the middle of my shaft.  The bottom half of my penis bulged and the top half remained flaccid,  obviously due to blood flow problems.

The sight of this sent me into a panic attack which sent me to the ER.  I saw a urologist  about 2 days later,  the constriction was not really visible when flaccid so he could not really observe the condition,  but he diagnosed it with Peyronies and prescribed Potaba. He did say that it was unusual to form scar tissue that quickly.  I did not get the Potaba when I saw what the cost was.

That evening,  I began reading mostly from this site and became truly terrified.  After awhile,  I decided that this condition may not really exist for me but I know have anxiety about my erection.  I decided to test this by forming an erection. Low and behold,  the erection was perfect with no sign of any Peyronies.

Today,  3 days after the good erection and after most pain has subsided ,  I noticed that my penis in flacid state was much smaller than normal.  I decided to perform another erection test and found that the constriction has returned but not as severe.  In fact,  the constriction was only there when I was semi-erect.  After I got a full erection there was no sign of the hourglass "waisting".  Afterwards,  my flaccid penis now feels like it is wearing a turtle neck shirt that is 2 sizes too small.  It's not exactly painful but uncomfortable.  The process of creating an erection is more difficult.  I am inherently less interested in sex (turned my wife down last night as I want to give it more time).  I have general loss of sensation and the total erection size does seem slightly reduced.

My question is this;  it appears that the fascia disconnected and slid down,  almost like a foreskin yet under the skin and has begun to scar and tighten.  My question is this, what is this best thing to do on a daily basis for observation?  Should I continue attempting erections in case I can force the scar to expand while it is developing?  Should I start taking Potaba and vitamin e right away?  Should I use this as an excuse to tell my wife I need a penile massage every night (OK just joking)?  Or should  I just put it away and don't touch it for a couple of weeks?

Thanks,  I already feel like I have many brothers here,

Rovert

rovert,

You will probably get as many different answers as you get answers.  But, here goes...IMO, if you have any pain associated with an erection, don't continue with the erection.  If you have pain, start taking an anti-inflammatory right away and stay with it for at least a month.  Don't attempt sex for a month.

If you have no pain with an erection, you are probably OK with having erections and sex.

When I originally got Peyronies Disease, I had pain associated with my erections.  I saw my urologist a couple of days later and he told me not to do anything until the pain was gone.  It made sense to me at the time and it still does.  There is something wrong if an erection causes pain.  Good luck and keep us posted.

rovert,

IMHO you need to get your butt to another urologist. You may have actually separated something or injured yourself in a way that is not related to Peyronies Disease at all. You need to get to a male functional specialist. Many urologist treat prostate, bladder, and urinary tract issues. You need to get to a male sexual specialist. Outside the U.S. I'm finding out these people are referred to as Andrologists. Don't wait..... get to real specialist.

Thank you for the ggod feedback guys.  I certainly can see that there are going to be alot of different perspectives on this and I welcome it.  I would rather have more information than less and it is not overwhelming to me.  I realize that if I do have this,  it is obvious that there is not some little pill to take to fix it all.

Update:

I had my hernia surgery yesterday,  so it will be awhile before I can complete any kind of intercourse test.  However,  I have noticed that since my penis has had some rest,  it's flaccid state is back to what I remember without any sign of constriction or shrinkage. I am on Hydrocodone and muscle relaxers for pain. I decided to bring up an erection to see what it would look like.  It was not as hard to make it erect as the last time...but certainly more difficult than in the past.  When it reached a semi-erection,  there was some "waisting" in the middle,  but not as extreme.  As soon as it reached full erection there was once more no sign of any problem in size or shape.  I let the erection back down immediately and about a minute later,  they constricting pressure pain returned around the bottom half of the shaft and my scrotum and perineum.

Its starting to look like (as some have suggested) that this may not be a sign of Peyronies,  but some still just general damage that needs more time to heal.  I believe I will take my wife's advice and stop obsessing over it and let it rest for a couple of weeks to really give it a chance to heal.

Thanks for the support

Honestly, I didn't know where to start here...I need some advice, terribly. It seems this was the best place to start.  I will try to make a long story short.  8 months ago, after years and years of being single, I'm met the love of my life, our feelings are mutual.  Our sex life in the beginning was crazy and fun, then one night 4 months into our relationship he told me he had been diagnosed with some disease that started with a "P", and that the doc said if he takes vitamin E, he would be fine.  He seemed so unconcerned about it, I didn't give it much thought.  Well about a month ago, our 5 nights a week of seeing each other, (not always sex..mind you) dwindled (where's the spell check on here?  :D) to the weekends.  Although we are in contact all day long....We boat, we ride his bike, we have a blast, but suddenly I felt he wasn't attracked to me anymore, sexually.  Then a week ago that conversation came back to me, and I started thinking about some moments during sex, what an idiot I am!  So I started to google and found what he was talking about!  Here's my dilemma...he's a very PROUD man, I feel he is pulling back because he is concerned about making me happy.. I just want to be there for him, I love him very much. But I don't know how to approach him to let him know I don't care about this issue. I almost confronted him and asked him if he wasn't attracked to me anymore (before the light bulb went off!)  thank goodness I didn't do that.   Because he is so proud, I am lost as to how to bring this up, that I am here for him, no matter what!  Sorry if this seems so stupid...I just want to support my man and can't lose him...any suggestions?  Thank you!

When I first got Peyronies, my fiancee didn't know what to think about it and I was scared to death.  After doing a little research on the internet, it was pretty obvious what I had.  My urologist suggested vitamin E and not having anymore sex until the pain was gone.

I was open with her from the beginning and we have continued our relationship in spite of Peyronies Disease.  It can be done and we are in our third year of living with it.

I'm not saying it is easy and it will take effort from both of you to make it work.  Feel free to send me a private message if you would like to discuss it in detail.

Hi everyone,

I've had a bit of sensitivity and an achy feeling along the left side of my penis shaft, as well at the base of the left side for a long time now. It never gets to painful, just achy, expecially if i start poking at it. I'm just concerned it could get worse with time. There is no lumps that i can feel and good hard erections still. A slight curve towards the achy side but the really strange thing is, after I ejaculate and lose the erection, my flaccid penis really curves towards the painful side and like a twist. What's up with this?

Does this sound like Peyronies Disease? Could it be something else like a strain and not scarring?

Thanks

Can you tell us know what you mean by a long time? (weeks/months/years?). Has the slight curve towards the achy side always been there, or is it something more recent? I would say that any change, if only an ache, requires further investigation by a urologist. It may be that you'll get "wait and see" advice, since symptoms are quite limited at this stage. If you see someone with good knowledge in the field though, hopefully they will spend more time on the issue and potentially offer a treatment plan to be on the safe side.

Thanks newguy,

I've had this soreness for many years, probably at least 6-7 years. I believe what caused the soreness is sleeping on my stomach during the night and squishing my erection into my bed. That's why I'm not sure if I have Peyronies Disease or a sprained ligament or something else? I no longer sleep on my stomach ever but I hope this soreness I get from time to time dosen't effect me in the long run.

Is there other things you can get besides Peyronies Disease? that resembles Peyronies Disease?

Post by: newguy on September 16, 2010, 10:30:34 AM
6-7 years is a long time. It doesn't fit with the typical (if there is such a thing) development of peyronie's disease as far as I know, but it still isn't an ideal situation. A minority of peyronie's sufferers on the site do suffer from very long term pain. It could be that you had a bout of peyronie's years ago which led to this long term pain. That's just an idea I'm throwing out there though really, as I can't be sure. Other members will be able to comment on whether another condition might match your symptoms.

I would certainly see someone about this and follow some of the strategies as listed on this forum. Better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks again newguy. Can you recommend a treatment for me? Something that can promote healing for my situation? I'm thinking some vit E and a VED unit. I don't know if pentox could help me?

Pentox can't hurt. You can always try it. It takes the pain away, not sure if you have significant pain though. It is best to get treated earlier rather than later. A lot of people including myself take 1000-2000mg of l-arginine everyday. The l-arginine increases blood flow. There are far more people on this forum than me who are educated about the VED. I myself used and am winding down my use of fastsize. If you can still secure a fastsize, I can tell you all about, as I have experienced pretty good success with it.

Thanks guys, that's good to hear pentox can't hurt, maybe I will give it a try, as long as there's no sides... Getting some l-arginine for blood flow sounds awesome too, but does this extra blood flow help with healing or just erections? Alittle VED and supplements will hopefully put some good healing back into my achy penis.

Post by: bdozer on September 30, 2010, 09:24:52 AM
I need some reassurance that we are on the right track.  Is this really Peyronie's?  Urologist says yes but I am not super impressed with doctors on this issue so far.

So the relevant bits:

1) he's always curved a bit to the left.  Now he has an abrupt BEND, less hardness and size, and I can feel an indented band around his penis at the bend.  Classic symptoms, right?

2) it started with a trauma (bending during sex resulting in pain), but it didn't not come gradually after that...it happened overnight pretty much, and has been about the same since then, 15 months ago. (Only change is really that it was sore at first and eventually pain mostly went away) I would have expected to see some progression or change if Peyronie's, right?  Not an overnight change like this.

3) Where's the plaque?  I'm supposed to be able to feel something, right?  A nodule or hard spot?  I don't.  The doc says she can feel it, and has tried to show him, but he can't feel it either.  She only checked him when soft.  (In fact, so far, no doc has seen him WITH an erection nor any photos...how can they diagnose this without seeing an erection?)  I've checked when both hard and soft and I feel a bend and an indentation when hard but no nodule.  When soft you can't tell a thing is different at all.

(Part of our problem here is we've been through three docs, and only the first doc really did much testing, and we haven't been privy to seeing or being told about the test results to my enormous frustration.)

(Holy cow this is personal stuff!  I can't believe I'm talking about my boyfriend's erections on a public forum!  Could this be any MORE humiliating?  :( )

Title: Re: 90% sure it Peyronie's but....?
Post by: LWillisjr on September 30, 2010, 10:33:51 PM

Yes you are stating what some consider the more classic symptoms. In short.....   the penis will look normal when flacid. My doctor uses the analogy of a long deflated balloon (the kind you make balloon animals out of). And while deflated place a small piece of tape on the side somewhere. Looks normal at this point. Then you inflate it. The balloon doesn't stretch where the tape is and in fact will curve into it. The tape represents the Peyronies scarring.

Yes it does happen literally overnight. The amount of curvature can progress some, but the initial impact/curve can happen in a very short period of time. Most of us can't relate to a particular trauma event, but the text books state that this is what causes Peyronies Disease. Others on the forum have other reasons for cause.

So yes it does sound like Peyronies Disease. The scar is probably the band you are feeling. Some men have nodules but not in all cases. The band of scar tissue is what is causing the curvature.

We have all experience frustration with uros who don't really specialize in this. There are only a handful of doctors on this site the are recommended or acknowledged to be experienced with dealing with Peyronies.

Hope this helps.
Title: What you think?

I'm 18 (as the name says) and since I can remember my penis has always curved to the left, I can remember being on holiday where I must have been around 15-16 and it curving slightly to left but never really payed attention to it.

Now my erect penis reaches 7 1/4 inches (if measuring the curve) yet has a sharp curve to the left, I notice that my penis does have visible scarring on the left hand side of it yet has a lump under the skin on the right hand side at almost exact same point as the curve. Shouldn't a right handside lump cause it to curve to the right? I'm seen pictures online and I'm still undecided, most likely I do have it, I've masterbated since I was about 8, even before I realised what it was and was fairly vigorous (I remember using my legs to do it in school as stealth, lol) and used to always wear tight underwear.

Anyone got any thoughts on that? Also the head of my penis is twisted so it almost faces the left anyway!

Many come on the forum questioning whether they have Peyronies or not. And many think that if their penis/erection is anything other than "normal" then this raises the question as well. So a couple of comments for you to consider:

1. Many erections are curved, and this doesn't mean you have Peyronies. If you have had this "as long as you can remember", then it is possible you were simply born this way. This is referred to as a congenital curve. Many men have this, it isn't unusual.

2. Peyronies scarring isn't "visible". Th scarring happens on the tissue that lies under the skin that covers your penis. That isn't to say that some men have a severe enough scar that some deformity referred to as waisting or hourglassing can occur. And yes this deformity is visible. But it is the deformity you are seeing, not the scarring itself.

3. While certain lumps can be associated with Peyronies, a lump by itself again does not necessarily mean you have Peyronies. Lumps/bumps can be caused by other means.

So the bottom line......   you can explain your symptoms in detail. And you can ask what people here think, and you will get some good and varied opinions. If you had obvious symptoms it would be easier to give an opinion. But what you have stated so far is not enough to offer a high probability of diagnosis. But the only way to know for sure is to consult with a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating Peyronies.

And here's a message for others.

Hi guys, I've decided not to be worried about it anymore, from seeing pics online left penis curves are very common indeed and the size of my dick is good enough for me to not moan about it. It may very well be peyronie's but it's not something I'll dwell on anymore, the only thing which still bothers me is the lump under the skin which could range from plaque to a tumor or anything.

I hope some of you feel the same, you only get one life so may aswell try to be happy and content with your physical features.

You know your body if this is something new not something you have been living with for years. Maybe has shown its self in the last couple of months then  yes it maybe something you should look into .I would ask a qualified  urologist about it and what is this lump and what kind of treatment or surgery there is to remove it..

In the future if not soon or later even a lump may cause some kind of trauma to your penis so be investagative
and Enquirer to a professional into what is going on with you.

I suppose it is possible that it might be an early onset of Peyronie's. But there are a ton of other possibilities. There could be a broken blood vessel that is repairing, or lack of blood flow period. Best to go to a urologist and give yourself piece of mind.

Normally if your flaccid penis is hard, but when you are erect, it feels normal, it is not peyronies.

First off.... don't panic. And don't assume you have Peyronies Disease, and don't assume you have anything that needs fixed.

Second,
you might try giving some more details. Just saying you have "something that moved" is too vague.
Title: Do I have Peyronies?
Post by: golfi on December 07, 2010, 04:42:22 PM
Hi, I have had pain in my penis and perineum for 3 years now.
It kind of started with tension and soreness in my perineum, but it have gotten worse and worse.
Now I can feel a "string" or bulb (I think it is my corpus spongiosum not the corpus cavernosum that has swollen) which starts
in the area around my anus and goes through the perineum and up to the tip/head of my penis.
It feels like the corpus spongiosum pulls on my penis, making it smaller/shorter.

When I get an erection, it kind of easy the pain a bit, but it often get worse some hours later.
The main problem is the pain that I'm having. It is the first thing I notice when I wake up and
the last thing when I go to bed. It is a very constant pain consentrated in my perineum and behind my testis (not inside the scrotum).
As I said it started very gentle, but have gotten worse and worse and it feels like it will never stop "growing".
It is a little better standing or laying down, but often worse when I am sitting. It feels like I am sitting on something when I am actually not.
There is also this sense of feeling; (you get when you sit down in an awkward position with your legs and your legs feels sleepy/lazy, because off the blood stream is stopped). That same feeling but in my perineum and penis instead of my legs/feet.

I had problems with my back before these symptoms occured, due to much golfing. But that got better, after getting treatment for it, before the symptoms started. Resently my backproblems have come back.

I am just 23 years old and have difficulities with the thought of living with this thing the rest of my life. I have rencently been a bit depressed.
All the doctors and urologists that have examined me, say that this is not a serious disease (cancer etc.), but something I just have to live with.

I don't feel my condition fits to the Peyronies disease, but wanted to hear what's your thoughts.

Please help me.

I am not a doctor but form some of the prostate problems I have had it sounds more like prostate problems than peyronies.

It could also be nerve pain.

Find a good Male Sexual Function Specialist for a complete work up.

I agree with Jackp. This does not sound Peyronies related to me, especially with the pain being in your perinium area. This could be one of a number of non-Peyronies related issues. I wouldn't stress out over it at this point, but would definitely suggest you find a speciailst for an exam/workup.

I can understand your worry about the pain you're experiencing. Do yo simply feel that your penis is smaller (due to concentrating on the pain and that area of your body) or is it significantly smaller? It would seem that multiple urologists you've seen do not think that it's peyronie's, so it's difficult for people here to say that it is. It's hard to rule anything out, but I do very much agree withothers there this could be nerve related. I believe that certain drugs can help to reduce nerve pain.

Neurontin is a great prescription drug for pelvic nerve pain. It also helps with anxiety.

Hey again,

It's kind of good news that it's probably not Peyronies, but
I do want to find out what's wrong.
The main problem is the pain, and it could perhaps have to do with nerve pain, but I have another question.
Why is there swelling to? (startes around my anus and goes all the way through my perineum and penis and ends up at the tip/head of my penis)
The swelling/bulb/(or string as I call it) started out small, but have grown larger and larger.
Is the nerve pain so bad that it provides swelling in my perineum and penis?
Or could it have to do with the muscles down there getting tighter?

I have booked another apointment with my doctor and hope he can send me to a sexual function spesialist or someone else who might
have an ide of what this is.

I appreciate your thoughts and answers.

VL,

Go to a urologist immediately. Then get a referral to a male sexual health specialist urologist. This is something that cannot be resolved via an internet forum. You must go to a doctor.

Best of luck,

You don't necessarily have to be referred to a male sexual specialist. In many cases they are urologists who have focused their practice on male sexual dysfunction. I'm simply trying to say that you don't always need to go to a general urologist first. In my case I made an appointment directly with Dr. Levine. I did not have or need a referral.

And Vince... I agree you need to get to one right away to get a proper diagnosis.

A lot of Male Sexual Function Specialist will see you without a referral. I know Dr. Milam at Vanderbilt will also.

You only need a referral if your insurance requires it.

Title: PEYRONIE’S Symptoms & Confirmation
Post by: kingofsat on January 06, 2011, 04:05:57 PM
My penis feels 'firm flaccid' alot of the time, it gets worst when im in a hot bath, standing, running, exersising, or sitting for long periods and after masturbation.
I have no pain whatsoever.
Sometimes when it's 'firm flaccid' if i try to get an erection it will try and go into a semi erection but ends up bending in half, basically. Wheras other times when im more relaxed, it will fill up normally.

When i go to urinate (which takes a while go get going) it relaxes completely, and then urination proceeds. Shortly after, it will begin to get 'hard' again.
Sometimes, I can feel a very hard wire-like thing, on the underside of my penis and it runs up towards the head and then disappears.

90% of the time i find it hard to get an erection on my own, unless i am watching porn and maintaining constant stimulation. If constant stimulation stops, or i stand up, it goes straight down. So i've tried to quit porn now for 2 months, and masturbation. Which has helped my spontaneous erections abit. Cialis also helps.

Sometimes my dick feels completely relaxed, soft, and i can't feel ANY hardness whatsoever. ( just like before this all started )
Then at times; it will retract, get extremely hard, and lose nearly all sensation.

If there is scar tissue, would it constantly be in a hard flaccid state ? Do you think my main issue is pelvic floor / muscular contractions ... as it disappears when i 'relax' and urinate and that i have delayed urination in that i have to focus on relaxing everything to allow it to flow. ?

kingofsat,

I firmly believe you have some problems with penis/erections/etc.  But what you describe doesn't clearly indicate Peyronies. So I would not assume you have Peyronies, but definitely have some problem going on. The best advice I can give has been stated many times on this forum. For any type of penile/erection issues.......   GET TO A MALE SEXUAL SPECIALIST. No one here can diagnose your symptoms over the internet.

If possible, I'd say, just start having as much sex as possible. Do you have a girl you can get with? If so, just start having as much sex as you possibly can. I find a penis just needs a good workout to break out of its funk. Both mind and body can benefit greatly.

Thanks for your replies guys, it really helps and im trying to stay positive.
I have approached a doctor about my urinary hesitancy as sometimes it takes a while to get flowing, which could indicate a contraction of some sort ?, and i believe the two things are firmly linked. As maybe i have some fibrous/scar tissue around the urethra area ?, if i pretend im going to urinate ( or actually go and urinate ) and relax the necessary muscles ( kinda hard to explain ). Then it relaxes my penis and it doesn't feel 'hard-flaccid'. Anyway the first step he said, is to have a urinalysis test to rule out any infections - so i'm going to get that done today.

The problem isn't really getting an erection, it's maintaining one. If i get an erection and a girl starts doing something with it, it starts losing sensitivity and thus my erection goes down. This could just be because it was very cold outside, although im not sure (it's happened twice now)

I've been taking cialis one day before i meet my girl, and when im with her i'll get a really hard erection but as soon as i start doing anything with it, it dies down. Really strange.

Also, because of all these problems i was fearing venous leak. But then like one week after i stopped masturbating, i got an extremely full, sensitive, and hard erection with no stimulation, and it stayed there even when i stood up, and sat back down, this has happened twice in the past 2 months. I will occasionally get these erections but very rarely, and it's never when i actually want them either - which is the frustrating thing, it's like my dick has a mind of it's own sometimes.

I only ever seem to be able to get a sensitive erection when im sitting in my pc chair, watching porn and keeping constant stimulation. Which is why i have completely cut this out now for 2 months, because i thought my dick could be getting accustomed to this, rather than the stimulation of a girl.

Wow, that's sounds strikingly similar to to fred22 urinary troubles. Do a search for his threads on this forum.

Also, check out this thread, it's got some great info on hard flaccid penis problems.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Mens-Health/Continuation-of-Penis-hard-when-flaccid-thread/show/1122440

The reason why I recommended some good sex for a hard flaccid penis, is because it helped me with this problem. Something I take to really rev up my sex drive, which works really amazing, is a strong, natural, prostate formulae that comes in liquid pill form. This is the one I use that I find very effective:

http://blog.londondrugs.com/2010/11/london-naturals-super-prostate-formula.html

I couldn't find the product ingredient breakdown of that product so if you want it I can send that info to you.

It could also help your urinary problems aswell.

Post by: Ben on January 10, 2011, 03:18:07 AM
I seem to have a strange condition in comparison to a lot of men here.
The initial trauma triggering peyronie was a hit while playing soccer.

The shock immediatly gaver a huge pain, but localised like a "string" in the dorsal side of the penis.
At home I checked my penis and it seems ok BUT the ending 1/3 was lifeless, as I grab py penis lying on my bed, the head falls, and almost no sensation in the ending 1/3.

After a while this weird feeling spreaded in the whole dorsal side of the penis.

Now it stay like that, I only can have a erection if really aroused, but rubbing my unit is useless. I was 25 at the beginning with no erection problem at all, now 30.

It seems that it's more than a lost of sensation, but of overall strengh.

I really think that dorsal nerve is dead (or hardly compressed by plaque) but the worring thing is that immediatly after the initial trauma, the "sleeping nerve" was here ?

any advice ?
thank you in advance :)

Find a good neurologist and have a nerve test done. Also see a Male Sexual Function Specialist, not a general practice urologist.

Title: Early-stage, only sometimes curved
Post by: thissucks on January 22, 2011, 12:52:31 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm a 20 year old male, recently started having problems that have got me started researching Peyronies Disease in the past two days. I woke up this morning with a curve in my penis that was very clearly centered at a tender spot on my penis, which started feeling tender about a week ago after some slight physical trauma from sex. It doesn't really hurt per se, but I can feel some slight pain on the left side. The curve was pretty sever considering I've never had this happen before, I'd say about 20 degrees of it. However, I just had an erection and it was perfectly straight looking. Granted, I did push my penis back into a straight line this morning. Is that a bad idea?

I have some questions: What advantages are there to this being in its early stages? I feel no plaque right now, but I don't doubt that it will develop given this morning's erection. Does having an hourglass shape sometimes appear in my flaccid penis have anything to do with this? If so, I've had that happening for maybe the past year (on occasion, not all the time, but maybe a couple times a week and particularly after masturbation). Can I take two Vitamin E pills a day and expect any results? Are erections good for preventing plaque build-up, or will they further this condition? Should I be massaging my penis?

I really don't know what to do about this, but particularly I'd like to know about how erections affect Peyronies Disease and what I can do to get rid of this while it's still early. Thanks so much!!!!

Any updates Rovert?

I had a similar experience and don't know what to do about it. Began with a slight injury, pain at tip, pain if penis was pulled away from body "downward" so I had to be careful. Pain subsided in a few days...then a month later noticed narrowing in distal third of penis and general reduction in length and girth.

1 Year has passed.  Tried DMSO and serrapeptidase, Osteopathy and Urologist wants to try Veripramil injections.

Is this a mechanical injury involving sheath AND scarring/nodules as well?

Thoughts anyone?

Thank you kindly,

Title: is this peyronie's?
Post by: raz on January 24, 2011, 05:41:58 PM
I thought this was a thrombosed vein but I'm not exactly sure. I had an erection and I "flexed" too hard and I felt a sharp pain on the left side of my penis. a few days later I had this hard cord that was kinda painful. It runs from the very botton of the base in the middle a little to the left, travels up, goes on the side of the shaft, and goes all the way just under the head. when I have an erection I can clearly see it bulging out the skin and it pulsates which makes me think it's a vein...the pain stopped after a month, but the cord is still there and has been there for about 3 months. It hasn't caused more curvature or changed my erections.
Title: Re: is this peyronie's?

Your symptoms don't really sound like peyronies.  I assume that when you say "flexed" you mean you contracted your pelvic floor muscle that aids in ejaculatory and urinary function.  I too used to feel like I flexed my pc muscle too hard when ejaculating before, although a lot of times it's hard to control.   It very well could be a thrombosed vein, but most people I've talked to that have that have pain and the vein is VERY apparent.  I'ts good that the pain has stopped, but I would still check with a urologist.

thissucks,

I agree by your name that yes this does suck, but don't panic.  It sounds like you did cause some sort of physical trauma to your penis.  After only a week or so, I think it's too early to tell whether or not you have Peyronies Disease.  injuries from sexual trauma can be a one time thing, where after you injure it, it gets inflamed and does heal on it's own quickly.  It is unusual to develop it at such a young age, but there are others in their 20's such as myself who have gotten it.  You did the right thing by coming here first though.

I suggest that you skip your primary care doctor and go straight to a urologist, particulary someone who specializes in sexual function.  Don't be nervous to go see one as they see guys like us all the time.  See if you can get scheduled for a penile sonogram through them, so you can see just what exactly is damaged and where.  You may or may not have Peyronies Disease, but you can at least start some oral treatments that won't hurt.

You should be taking things that are anti-inflammatory and anti fibrotic, like fish oils, or asprin or ibuprofen if theres still pain from the initial injury.  In a addition you can pick up some L-arginine at 2grams per day, Acetyl-L-carnitine at 2grams a day, and perhaps some coenzyme q10 at 300mgs a day.  Take vitamin E if you want, although there's no evidence that it actually works, keep it at 400iu a day if you do.

The advantages to being in an early stage is that if you have scar tissue, it's still soft and maleable, so you have a better chance at preventing it from getting worse, and also making it better.  I don't think that the occasional flaccid hourglass means too much.  Way before I ever had Peyronies Disease, I used to get it after masturbation or after sex sometimes.  It's only if it's happening constantly that it's an indication of scar tissue, at least in my case.

Finally, erections are CRUCIAL if you want to stop and reverse this.  DO NOT stop getting erections. Erections stretch the penile tissue so it stays stretched and the plaque doesn't advance, as well as carrying nutrients through the incresed bloodflow to the damaged tissue that needs it. The more erections, the better, and I think just about everyone on here will agree, just go easy on sex and masturbation, keep it gentile for the time being.  Massaging it probably won't do anything.

I have peyronies with no curve, what I have is a lump on the right side of the shaft just under the head. Which is cause the thinning of the shaft above the lump when errect. Even when flacid the part above the lump seems like something is missing because its thin as well. My question is that I see all the alternative treatments and Oral treatments but most seem to be relating to fixing the curve, are they also intended to fix thinning? I keep reading up on Xiaflex but again it refers to fixing the curve, is it also for thinning? If not what treatments should one use to try to correct the thinning? I've attached a paintbrush drawing to show the issue my peyronies is causing with a arrow pointing to where the plaque is located (I couldn't figure out how to insert the picture in the post).

After doing some research when first being diagnosed, I am confused as to why I don't have a curve either? I thought that plaque not being flexible cause a curve because one side inflates as normal while the other side can't expand around the plaque causing it to bend towards the plaque, so why do some get thining?
Title: Re: Peyronies with no curve

Would this perhaps be better to describe as an indentation? I would think that a regimen or oral and mehanical treatments would have some chance of improving this, if you stick with them for the long term. What do others think?
Title: Re: Peyronies with no curve
Post by: cowboyfood on February 16, 2011, 04:32:03 PM
Indentation, or dent, may be the way to describe it in my opinion.

I had a right side dent with no curve, then the dent went away after VED and pentox usage for a little over a year.

Then, after I took a break from the VED for a couple of months, a left side dent appeared, and no curve.

(I could always feel a slight dent on the left side since I first noticed my right side dent; it just seemed to become more enlarged after I stopped using the VED for a couple of months).

I started back with daily ved usage last September, and subsequently left side dent seemed to stabilize last October/November.  Now, I can see the left side dent has reduced in size slightly.

I never have had much of a curve with either dent.  I did have a slight upward curve of about 30 or so degrees when I first noticed the condition over two years ago, but that went away after a several months of VED and pentox usage.

Hey guys.

Well, I have been, for the last few months, noticing that my flaccid would severely sometimes curve to the right if either entirely flaccid with the least amount of blood, or if I had a more engorged flaccid. I would also notice that sometimes if I was 70% or so erect, I would have a 30 degree or so bend to the right. BUT, usually in time this will go away for weeks at a time, as long as I keep ejaculationg or even stroking my erect penis to at the most once a week. If I do it twice in one week, I generally see these bad symptoms. So I don't know. I don't know if this is just a very mild case of scar tissue that when I do too much sexual activity, acts up and causes these symptoms..... what do you guys think? If I abstain totally a week from this day on, and then get an erection THEN, I generally will have NO curve. But If Im too rough on it, it is like the scar tissue (that I SUPPOSE is there), will "activate" and cause symptoms...... what do you all think?

It's very difficult to say if this is something to be concerned about or not.It wouldn't be a bad idea to be less rough for a while, seeing as this seems to result in less of the symptoms that you're been seeing. Also, looking to see a urologist to get their take on it could be a positive step. You're very well positioned to get on top of it early with effective treatments like pentoxifylline, should it be decided that you do have peyronie's disease.
Title: PEYRONIE’S Symptoms & Confirmation
Post by: qowpel on February 21, 2011, 06:39:21 PM
Hey guys. Well, I have noticed that my penis now bends an extra 5 to ten degrees to the right when flaccid. Sometimes if a bit more blood gets into the blood for a more engorged flaccid, the curve can get as bad as 25 or maybe even 30 degrees. Before this my penis was basically entirely straight. I have also noticed my urine stream is way more to the right.

The thing is that this curve stays prevalent to the largest extent about a week or more after ejaculationg. It will just linger for that many days. I have checked my penis and so has the urologist on the outside for plaque or scar tissue. but they found nothing. I also got a doppler to look at the bloodflow and it came back normal. Isnt there a better test to assess the scar tissue I KNOW I have (and I KNOW I must have even a little because sometimes as my erections fill out I have a right curve about 10 degrees but then it goes away after I become fully erect. Also, I have noticed for so long years, that I have not been able to get full potential erections. Missing almost half an inch in length and .25 inches in circumference. However two weeks ago, I got the fullest erection I had ever gotten in years. FULL POTENTIAL. But after that, it has been 13 days and I havent touched it, but the symptoms still stay, which makes me think the full potential erection caused alot of inflamation.....

Anyway, I got a doppler that showed nothing. But there HAS to be something there... Is there any other test I can get such as an ultrasound (like the one they use to look inside of a pregnant mother) that actually LOOKS inside of the penis, to look for any plaque or scar tissue?

Is it possible that my test came back normal because the scar tissue isnt severe enough? thank you guys and please answer this all so that I dont have to make a post that will ause me to take up more memory on this site. Love to all

qowpel,
The doppler ultrasound is about the most accurate method I know of for problems and/or plaque detection. I'm confused about some of your symptoms. I believe Peyronies Disease is most detected once you are erect. But you state you are straight when erect.

You mention some possible ED issues. Peyronies and ED are not directly related. So just because you are not getting fully erect is not an indication of Peyronies.

So I am curios as to why you are convinced you have some scarring. I'm not necessarily disagreeing, just trying to understand your thought process.

Well it sounds like you've done the right thing and got checked out. The results suggest that there is little to worry about, so again that's positive. It is useful that you've found this community though. In your shoes I would keep a very close eye on things, and if my fully erect penis alters in terms of degrees, act at that time. If you are suffering from very mild ED, that is something that can be addressed with viagra/cialis or natural remedies (l-arginine and pycnogenol combo, for instance). It might be normal for your erections to be not quite as strong as they used to be. My hunch tells me that there is little to worry about here, but again, you've found this site, and you're well positioned to act if your situation changes.

Well the thing is, I have developed a new curve in my flaccid penis. And generally, the curve gets worse and worse as I apporach about 30-40% erect. This curve has not gone away and has been showing up on and off for around 3 months. It stays the longest/most consecutive amount of days if I ejaculate twice in one week. If I do that it will stay for so so long, like at least 10 days.

Whenever this curve is present, SOMETIMES as I get up to even 60% erect or a bit more, I can see a small small dent (extremely small) on the right side about half a centimeter below the glans and it bends to the right and will feel a pull. The curve, whenever it occurs at this amount of "erectness" will be about 5-10 degrees, but is usually 10 degrees. Either way, it is there, and is new, and I feel something there. Clearly more sexual activity in a short window of time exasperates these symptoms as if I am causing extra inflamation of the scar tissue that must be there. What do I do?And what do you all think?

Hey all. Just joined the forum and have some questions about my new condition.

About a month ago, after an unusually rigorous session of masturbating, I noticed some pain and discomfort in my penis when I was erect. The pain was mostly around the base of the penis, spreading up the center of the shaft a little too. Also, I found that I could only push my penis back to about an 80 degree angle from my body until it got tight around the base and started hurting. The best way I found to describe the pain at the time was that it felt like I had "sprained" my penis, for lack of a better term. (Incidentally, I have not noticed any unusual curvature). I figured I had just been a little too vigorous and decided to take it easy on the masturbation for a while and wait for it to heal.

After a week and a half or two weeks, I began getting a little concerned so I saw my GP. (By this point, I was also beginning to notice a strange, hardened "chord" running up the center of the shaft of my penis when I was engorged). He was clueless about what it could be, so he referred me to a urologist, whom I saw yesterday.

The urologist almost instantly diagnosed it as Peyronie's. He said there wasn't much known about the cause and there was no cure. He said there was nothing he thought surgery could do for me, nor was there really any medicine for the pain. The best he suggested was I try taking vitamin E and ibuprofen and wait to see what happened. My current plan of action is to lay off the self love for a little while and give it a shot to see what happens. I did send my urologist an email asking about Pentox once I read about it here, but haven't heard back yet.

So I guess what I'm looking for is some advice about what to do about this and what I can expect for the future. Is there anything more I can do besides the vitamin/ibuprofen regimen? How can I expect this to affect my sex life? How many of you saw the condition get better over time? Worse? The pain seems manageable for me at the moment, but I'm worried about it getting so bad I can't do anything.

I've already gotten a lot of good info by browsing this forum. Any extra advice or support you guys can offer would be super appreciated. Thanks.

What makes you think you have Peyronies Disease....  just curious.

There are a number of factors. How long you have had curvature, the amount of curvature, other symptoms, etc. It is important to get a proper diagnosis as this will determine the best approach for therapy.

Well,
Unfortunately you got the old textbook response. Don't forget that urologists are trained on bladder and urinary conditions. Of which this disease is neither. Many urologists don't know any more about Peyronies Disease than GP's do.

Urology - noun
the scientific, clinical, and especially surgical aspects of the study of the urine and the genitourinary tract in health and disease.

If you read much here you will quickly see references suggesting you find a specialist in male sexual function. This is a narrow field in the area of general urology. Many of us here went to several uro's before finding someone who would treat Peyronies Disease and not say there is nothing that can be done. There are several doctors this forum recommends depending on where you live.

Thanks for the suggestion. Is there a specific place on this site where I can find suggestions for a specialist in my area?

The Urologists and Other Doctors area is a good place to start.  If you don't find someone in your area there, its also a good section to post in "looking for a doctor".  - George

Hello everyone,

I have had peyronies since november of 2010, I was officially diagnosed in January 2011.  I'm 22 yrs old.  I've had some mild curvature, and lots of pain in the beginning.  I was told to take vitamin e and aleve. My urologist said he had peyronies as well.  It's been 4 months and the pain has improved a lot.  I no longer take aleve everyday, just every now and then.  I can live with the small curve I have, it actually straightens out for the most part when I have an erection or after gently massaging the scar tissue area.  I still don't have the same erection strength as I once did before peyronies.  I would say that right now I'm 85% if pre-peyronies I was at 100%.  I must also mention that I have struggled with severe anxiety and xanax withdrawals for the last yr and a half; depression as well for 8 yrs it turns out.  Things are getting better emotionally and withdrawal-wise, I got off the xanax in the last week and my erections are getting stronger this week as well.  My libido is getting back to normal.  With that being said, should I go back for a checkup soon about the erections not being 100%, or could it be my emotional state that's holding me back.  My urologist said that if i had any problems come in.  Do you think I should go back ASAP or wait for a few weeks to see what happens?

IMHO

I would give myself time to get over the withdrawal from xanax and any other antidepressant.

Antidepressants cause sexual disfunction.

I think I've noticed the same.  If I masturbate frequently the curve in the flacid or semi-erect state gets worse, suggesting increased inflammation; I notice this especially during penile detumescence.  If I abstiene for a week there is more arousal and the erection is stronger, I probably have chronic prostatitis issues confusing the picture.  Long term abstinence is not a good idea as frequent erections help maintain erectile function - use it or loose it as they say.  In general think it is probably a good idea to make sure you are highly aroused before starting to masturbate, be kind to your penis.

I've noticed something similar too.  However I'm not sure if this is due to making the scar tissue inflamed, but rather tissue fatigue.  The scar tissue doesn't have the same elastic properties as healthy tissue, so after too much use, it gets "worn out" for lack of a better term, and tends to tighten up more and contract.

Hey guys,

I'm new to this board and have a relatively clueless Urologist. By reading some info on this site, I think I may be exhibiting some symptoms related to Peyronies Disease. I'm fairly young (26) and have been dealing with a bit of ED during the past several  months. Its onset was rather rapid and I can't pinpoint it to an event.

One thing that I've noticed recently is that during the process of gaining an erection, the head of my penis will fill with blood, the 1/3 near the base will also as well, but the small part of the shaft that connects the head to the rest of the penis will kind of lag in its response and remain thin. I believe this is referred to an "hour-glass" shape. Eventually, with enough stimulation, it will respond like the rest of the penis and I can gain a real erection. My penis looks normal when flaccid and erect.

This 'lag-response" is not always the case. Sometimes it happens, and other times it doesn't.

Do these symptoms match an early case of Peyronies Disease? So far, I have no palpable scarring and no noticeable curvature.

I'd appreciate any guidance in this matter, as I'm trying to atleast get a sense of what may be going on.

kpaul212, has your urologist ruled out Peyronie's for now?  You said he/she was clueless, I'm thinking that means no definitive diagnosis.  You may want to seek a second opinion.  I did, after my first urologist misdiagnosed me, my third urologist has me on Pentox and low dose daily Cialis.  In addition, I'm taking Ubiquinol, ALC, L-arginine and Vitamin E and feel that it has helped me at least retard progression of this condition.

Being so young, your body may be trying to heal itself and not go into full Peyronies.  You could begin taking anti-inflammatory meds such as Ibuprofen at least until you know for sure.

Thanks for your reply.

The doctor gave me a complete exam but didn't feel any scar tissue and disregarded that potential diagnosis. So to answer your question, yes, I am currently undiagnosed.

I guess my real question is: Can you have Peyronies Disease, and experience the symptoms sometimes, and other times not?

Actually hourglassing is quite common when progressing from flaccid to erect states and if everything is fine once erect, I really wouldn't worry about it too much at this point.  The first presentation of Peyronie's *usually* involves palpable plaques or nodules *or* streaks of hardened scar tissue that can be palpated or felt in the flaccid penis.  If these types of anomalies are not detectable then the likelihood that this is Peyronie's is very small.  - George

Post by: kthjkvnv on April 19, 2011, 03:27:16 PM
Hello everybody. I want to ask if my condition looks like Peyronie's disease or it is something else.

I am 25 years old. My penis is bent about 50 degrees downwards during erection. Penis is not curved all along the length of the penis. It starts straight relative to the body and it is bent in an inch from the body and the rest part of the penis is totally straight. That is two straight parts of the penis connect at an angle.

When I don't have erection, it is not curved. When I have erection but the erection is not full, penis starts to bend but it is flexible enough so it is possible to straighten it by hand. When I have full erection, it is not possible to straighten it. I also have a small amount of pain during full erection. I don't have any other abnormalities with my penis (except circumcision). I can masturbate but I have never tried to have sex.

I don't really remember if my penis was already bent when I had my first erections in childhood. When I was 15 years old it was definitely already bent. I don't remember any changes in it, so it may never have been straight. Nor do I remember any injuries to it. I had circumcision when I was about 10 years old.

I've read that if you have Peyronie's you can palpate the scar near the place of curvature but I tried really hard and couldn't feel anything special around the place of curvature. May be I just don't know how it feels.

What cause may such a curvature have? Does it look like Peyronie's? Is there a better way to make a diagnosis?

Sorry for my English, I am not a native speaker.
Title: Re: Is it Peyronie's or something else?
Post by: LWillisjr on April 19, 2011, 06:37:26 PM
Your English is definitely fine enough for us to understand.

What you have described as your erection starting straight, then a curve, and then straight again is described as an acute curve or angle. And yes this is symptomatic of Peyronies disease. And it seems that you have had this for a long time. This would mean that if you do have Peyronies Disease that it would have stabilized by now. This means it shouldn't get any worse at this point.

It can be difficult to feel the scar tissue. I was not able to do this until my urologist showed me how, and now I know what to feel for.

50 degrees is a pretty good curve, and could definitely interfere with intercourse.

The only way to know for sure is to get a proper examination by a specialist and confirm the diagnosis. There is a lot of information on this forum on how to treat Peyronies. But you need to confirm this by a specialist.

Title: your thoughts - my symptoms - new here
Post by: yojim on April 20, 2011, 09:59:52 PM

Hello all,

I am greatful I found this forum.  I want to describe my symptoms and will welcome all input.
If I have Peyronie's disease I have just aquired it.
My stats:
54yo married
always in good/exceptional health

A while back, difficult to say how long now but I think a month or two is a fair guess, I noticed pain on the top of my penis just below the head only when fully erect.  I could make it hurt more by mentally flexing while erect. I did not give this a great deal of thought at the time.  This happened maybe 2 or 3 times during relations with my wife. The pain was no severe, it more of an aggravation/distraction.

The other morning, when I awoke with an erection (maybe 90% fully erect), I reached down and felt it and noticed (or believe I noticed, a bend upward). This bend is in the top 1/3 or so of the penis. Well, I kind of freaked out a bit but did not think a great deal of it until I got online and discovered Peyronies disease.  Part of my problem now, is that because I am disturbed by this, even when I attempt to arouse myself, my mind is so fixated on this issue, I get 60-80% erect, lose my concentration and begin to concentrate on the shape of my penis. Well at 60-80% erect I see no sign of a bend.  If there is one it is relatively subtle.  If I awake with an erection (again being 54 I seldom if ever awake with a full erection anymore) I will reach down to feel it but again, because of the panic, it instantly goes away.

I guess what I am trying to say is, my anxiety has me at a state where I cannot even fully evaluate my own situation at this time.

My questions would be:

I am not sure if I feel anything under the skin or not.  I have never had need to examine in this manner of course.  I have read of BBs like lumps etc.  I have no sign of a lump. I possibly notice a hardness under the skin just below the head but I be imagining it.  If it is scare tissue or plaque of some kind it is perfect flat and non-bumpy in any way.  Again what I am feeling may have always been there, I cannot be sure.

I wish I were 18 and could just command an erection  but my anxiety is preventing me from attain a full one.

I am and always was an alarmist type person.  I have a tendency to think the worst.

Any input welcome and thanks in advance.

You are describing what I refer to as "classic Peyronies". I, like you, simply woke up one morning and there was the bend. I did not have any pain. Started off with a 40 degree bend that progressed over a few months to a 70 degree bend.

I also did not have any lumps or bumps. The scar is a hardened spot on the Tunica (under the skin). My urologist described this as placing a piece of tape on a deflated balloon. Then when you inflate the balloon, the balloon curves into the direction of the tape as this area no longer stretches as the rest of the tunica tissue around it.

You've come to the right place for information.

Thank you for responding to my post. I'd like to describe my issue in a bit more detail and get your input.

When I originally had the pain it was right where the head meets the shaft (the neck if you will).  Perhaps even a bit into the head itself.

My "bend" is actually difficult to calculate in terms of degrees.  This may be because of the location of the bend. Most pictures of a dorsal (or top) view of Peyronie are usually centered midshaft which would exasperate the problems associated with the bend.  In other words (for example, to take a couple of exptremes ) if you began at 6" and had a 45 degree bend at midshaft, you'd have 3" striaght and 3" upward (perhaps making intercourse difficult).   If you began at 6" and had a bend near endshaft (or head area) , you'd be 5" straight and 1" upward. Assuming a 1.5" diameter, with the same 45 degree angle, the picture seems less severe (seems intercource might be less of a problem).

An analogy would be, picture a person laying on his back on the floor (perfectly straight), then he lifted his head to take a look at his feet. Due to mechanics you can only lift your head so far in this case.  I am thinking I may be a bit fortunate in that my bend is more on the last 1/4 to 1/3 near the tip.  It's as if the head turned upward.

The problem would be, if this is a progressive thing and the plaque or scar tissue progressed more towards the root of the shaft, things would get dramatically worse.

Therefore this is almost like rotating an oblong ball at the end of a stick.
Approximately the top 1/4 is bent. Given this I would guess at a 10-20 degree bend.

I am now pain free.  Had a good test for pain this morning when I awoke.  Was near 100% and no pain.

BTW anybody else think the picture in wikipedia does not look like too severe a case?  It almost looks like a congenital bend only pronounced.  That picture is more of a half circle. rather then a dramatic bend.

Post by: LWillisjr on April 21, 2011, 09:57:24 PM
I understand what you are describing. Your curve is near the top of the shaft near the glans (head). Even so it should be possible to estimate a degree of curvature. So if you 10-20 degree estimate is correct, this degree of curvature isn't too bad. Given the fact the some here have had curvatures of 45, 70, and in rare cases exceeds 90 degrees (yes starting to point back on itself).

But... in any event the treatment suggestions remain the same. Typically Peyronies is considered to be in what is called an "acute" phase for the first 12 months or so. After which it stabilizes. So you want to do what you can to keep the curve from getting any worse. The recommendation here is to try a combination of things. It is always suggested that you find a specialist. Many urologist claim to diagnose and treat Peyronies. But most will give you the text book answer to "wait and see" or "there is nothing you can do". Doctors who treat Peyronies tend to be male sexual specialists. Outside the U.S. the term is Andrologist. There are several doctors recommended here on the forum.

A prescription drug called Pentox is highly recommended. It helps some with the pain. Even though you don't have any pain, Pentox helps with blood flow to the penis. Which is also recommended for the healing process.

Also, use of a traction device or exercising your penis with a VED is also recommended. There are boards here on both with lots of information on how to use them, protocols, etc.

If you have no pain, and no problem with intercourse.... consider yourself on the fortunate side of this disease (if there is a fortunate side). I would focus on trying to prevent any worsening at this point.

lwillisjr and others on this forum wrote that an acute curve is the evidence for Peyronie's and a gradual "banana-shaped" curve is the evidence for a congenital disorder. Thus, there is some evidence for Peyronie's in my case.

However, I have also found a following statement by somebody on this forum that also matches description of Peyonie's which I found in other sources:

"...you state that your curve has existed as long as you can remember.  That is a very strong indicator that is is not Peyronies Disease.  You currently have no palpable plaque, pain, no history of trauma, no history of a rapidly developing deformity or loss of size.  You have no ED.  In conclusion, you have no symptom of Peyronies Disease." (topic Other Peyronies Disease Discussion Boards > Open Questions or General Comments (that won't fit under any other topics) > Open Questions on Peyronies Disease (That won't fit under any of our current topics)).

That perfectly describes me as well. It seems that it's hard to conclude anything and I will have to seek a consultancy and undergo ultrasound or another inspection to understand the situation better.
Title: Re: Is it Peyronie's or something else?
Post by: LWillisjr on April 22, 2011, 11:55:28 AM
That is correct. That is why it is difficult when someone posts here and asks "Do I have Peyronies". You have to consider history, symptoms, changes, etc. And there are many other penis related injuries and problems besides Peyronies Disease. So just having pain, of just having lumps, or just having a deformity doesn't mean Peyronies.

That is why I always caution to NOT assume someone has Peyronies just because think so. I think it is equally important to have a proper diagnosis so you know exactly what you are dealing with. Whether it is Peyronies, or any number of similar related issues.

I have a 45°curve to the left plus hourglas. My Urologist told me the first time I saw him, that if my bend was downwards there were good chances it was congenital. Because IPP (Thats what they call peyronies here in europe - Induratio Penis Plastica) usually goes sideways or Up. But he also told me that there can be exceptions. Only Ultrasound can tell.

I was diagnosed with Peyronies about a month ago. I discovered two lumps about 1/3 and 1/2 the way down the shaft (starting at the tip). I also have pain when erect and pain during sex. I don't have any curvature, but an indention at the place of the lump that is 1/3 the way down. The pain seems to be getting a little better, but I am greatly concerned about the curvature problem that may occur. I went to a urologist and got the "come back in several months" routine. I seem to want to go back and see him again, but I am just not sure what he can do for me.

So, has anyone else found more than one lump? Is that common? Are there any other symptoms people are having? I seem to have an irritated urethra also. I sort of feel like that is due to the constant "feeling of the lumps" I am doing.

Thanks for this forum. I genuinely feel for anyone that is in this same situation.

Cougar, I have two lumps either side at the moment.  I don't have much of a curvature and a dent above the left lump.  I'm hoping VED will get rid of the little curvature I have 10-15 degrees.  I'm still in pain whilst flaccid and have been for over 4 months.  I will be starting VED in 2 weeks.
Title: Is this Peyronie's Disease? Please Help!
Post by: quickguide90012 on May 08, 2011, 08:24:19 PM
Hey guys. I'm extremely worried right now. Im in my mid 20s and 6 years ago i had a severe injury to my penis. The urologist i saw back 6 years ago said i had no problems and conducted no real tests. But one urologist saw me and said i had peyronie's disease. The thing was i then quickly googled it back then and though i had because i had 1-2 symptoms of it like smaller flaccid penis and that hard flaccid feeling. I injured my penis by masturbating. Well he gave me vitamin E to take but after i saw him 2 months later on, he told me i didn't have peyronies. Then i went to a few other urologists who did actual tests on me, like nocturnal erection test, ultrasound etc and they confirmed i don't have peyronies.

The thing that has me worried right now was 2 weeks ago i masturbated. The entire 2 weeks, my penis has been very small flaccid. Okay, that;s not a big deal because my penis could be sore. However, the thing that got me very scared was a few days ago, i masturbated to try to get an erection and it was very hard because of how small my penis when flaccid was. My normal size is very small for flaccid. It's around 2' normally flaccid. When hard, it is 3.75-4 inches so i have a small penis.

But when i masturbated to get an erection, i noticed that my penis was very small when erect. It was no more than 2.25 inches.  The thing that scared me more was it had this curve like looked a lot like peyronie's disease. Imagine you are jerking your penis to get it erect and then noticed that this was as big as it would go. I got very freaked out. However, i then tried to masturbate more to try to make it longer like my normal size. I finally got it close to my normal size but this took a lot of work. It also felt like 2 different phases of a full erection.  Have anyone ever heard of this?  What i mean by this is you know how you masturbate and your penis is semi hard and your size you masturbated to right now is only say 30 percent erect? Well it felt 100 percent erect already when it was 2.25 inches. Then i had to do something else to pull it to the right in order to get it to my normal size. It wasn't like i was scared when i couldn't get it fully erect when it was 2.25 inches, but it feels like it was erect already at that state 100 percent and if i try to get it more longer, it couldn't that way.

I read peyronies disease has symptoms of shorter penis. Is what i'm describing right now peyronie's? I'm very worried right now because when i had that full erection, it was that short. I called it a full erection because that was a full erection even though i got it to near my normal size because you could tell that was already the longest it would go. It also has that bent where penis curves up which is why i think i have it.

At first i thought this happened because i took 50,000IU of Vitamin D given by my doctor because i have vitamin D deficiency and read it causes urinary tract infection last week but doctor told me that has 0 chance of affecting the penis and i read online that as well.

To anyone who has or had peyronie's disease or knows a lot about it, is this what i'm describing peyronie's? And can a urologist confirm if i have peyronies or not just by examining by penis or does he have to do those tests? I done plenty of those tests already back then 5-6 years ago when i had a previous serious injury when i thought i had peyronies but i didn't have it because i never had this condition.  The thing that scares me a lot is its been very small flaccid for 2 weeks and that it hurts on the bottom right of the penis even when i don't touch it.  My penis is not stretchable at all.  Its not just turtled, its turtled to the point where you see no gap in that area of the penis where you see two lines horizontally.  Does anyone here get the picture of what i'm saying here?

I know there is surgery for this but i read it would shorten the penis aka nesbit procedure which i would not do but there is also another procedure that works. And is there anyone here that actually took Vitamin E and had it cure peyronie's disease? I took it 5 years ago for 2 months but the doctor made a mistake that i had peyronies so taking it was useless.

I'm going to see my urologist soon but really wanted to know what you guys say about this. I never been this worried ever.  Someone else on a forum said there is no way that is peyronies because it takes time to develop and that most likely i have hard flaccid penis.  Also, it hurts on my penis right now especially in the right side of it.

Is there a chance i just have urinary tract infection?  When i had the penis injury 6 years ago, i was told i had this and took some pills.

Post by: tobasco on May 09, 2011, 02:13:24 AM
Is the hourglass shape that I see mentioned in threads when flaccid or erect?  My penis appears normal when flaccid but when semi-erect it has a very distinct hour glass shape, thin at the point where my penis bends.  However, when fully erect the hourglass shape isn't very apparent.

Is this the hourglass shape people are talking about?  If not, is what I'm observing typical of Peyronie's?  Thanks so much for this forum.

Yes it is. My hourglassing is like that too, most noticeable when semi erect. Has your peyronies caused erectile dysfunction like it has me? My ed is rather severe..
Title: Dent but no curve - will it progress?
Post by: 0x5555 on May 09, 2011, 06:37:25 PM
A while back I noticed some pain and suddenly a large dent on the underside near the head.  When flaccid I can feel a pretty hard lump and so this brought me to peyronies.

I have not yet gone to a doctor but it certainly sounds like I have it.  During the day things are a little/moderately sore.  Things are more sore right after sexual activity.

I'm curious to know if anyone had similar symptoms and how it progressed?  Did the dent slowly turn into a curve, did the dent eventually go away, did it get worse?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Well it is hard to tell you online if you have peyronies or not.
See that you can get to an uro as soon as possible.
50,000IU of E is really a lot, and I doubt it could cure anything. Here people are taking like 400UI/per day.
It does not cure anything, but it is good to take it if you have a deficiency.
And of course it would be important to have your blood checked and get ALL your levels up to date and fixed.
Most Peyronies Disease patients have E deficiency at the moment the get Peyronies Disease. but just giving E, does NOT cure it. it only cures the E deficiency.
(I was given this example: If you leave you bicycle outside for a year, it is bound to get rusty. You put it in your garage, it will stop getting rusty, but that will not remove the rust)

Only a urologist could tell you what you have exactly.

The penis shortening in Peyronies comes from the scar tissue. there where it is, your penis cannot expand.
so if you have some at the left, you will get a bend to the left, if you have it on the top, it will bend to the top.. etc..
imagine a ballon. if you stick some scotch tape on a non inflated balloon (on one side), the place where you stuck it will not expand when you inflate the balloon, causing a curvature. Thats what happens in peyronies.

Of course you can also have peyronies, but your condition can also come from a nerve damage, or something completely different.
So get to your urologist ASAP.

Regardless of the reason, if you are experiencing pain after sex, get to a urologist as soon as possible and don't engage in any sexual activity until the pain is gone.  You may or may not have Peyronies, but pain is not normal and it is telling you that something is wrong.

I experienced pain after sex when I first got Peyronies.  Looking back on my experience, I should have stopped having sex and seen my urologist sooner rather than later.  By the time I saw the doctor, the curve was already there and I had Peyronies.  I started taking ibuprofen per my doctor's instruction; the pain went away, but the curve remained.  I have always thought that had I stopped sex sooner and started the ibuprofen sooner, my curve might not have gotten so bad.

IMO, it always better to be safe than sorry.

i saw my urologist.  I also have pain on the right side of my penis just below the head area.  Its on the right side and the bottom right.

He checked me and examined me and said he sees nothing wrong.  I asked him does that mean there is 0 percent i have peyronies.  He said its 99.9 percent i don't have it just by looking and examining it but not 100 percent unless some test is done.

I masturbated few weeks ago and the last 2 weeks, i have most of the symptoms of peyronies.

I read on a website

In Peyronie's disease, inflammation and scar tissue form along the shaft of the penis. No one is certain why this problem occurs, but it may be triggered by repeated mild trauma during sexual intercourse. You may feel the inflammation and scar tissue as a painful lump or area of unusual firmness. In many men, the scar tissue causes the penis to bend or shorten because it prevents the penis from expanding normally. Men with Peyronie's often have difficulty achieving a firm erection, but it is unclear whether this occurs first or is caused by the scar tissue.

I posted a thread asking if i have peyronies or not here

https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,1738.0.html

But to summarize it real quick, this is what i noticed the last 2 weeks

-Penis flaccid has been turtled
-Penis hurts
-My penis when flaccid, it looks narrowed.  Like the area right below the head looks much different like a DENT
- There is some like DENT on my penis that is located RIGHT BELOW THE HEAD in the right side.
- My erection does not expand normally.  I masturbated to get erection and it is very short.  My penis is around 3.75-4 inches erect only so i have a small penis but the last 2 weeks, it only goes 2.25 inches max.  However, i can get it to its full size but it feels like another phase of an erection.

Does this sound like peyronies to you?  I went to urologist already and he examined me and said i don't have it.  I said is that 100 percent, he said 99.9 percent i don't have it unless he does some test but he don't want to do it.  However, someone said to see a sexual dysfunction doctor b/c urologist can be wrong and peyronies is not their study of work.

Do you think i have peyronies from what i describe?  I don't have extreme pain though but i read that you don't need to have any pain to have peyronies.  I do have some pain though.

I agree with GS. There are many unknowns where each persons situation is concerned. There is little sense in waiting to see if the condition changes, when you could be taking treatments that actively reduce the chances of negative change and increase the chance of improvement.

Get diagnosed, then ask to be prescribed pentoxifylline. Evidence for its effective is in the resources section of this site. If you find that your condition is still changing at that time, you might want to throw a mechanical treatment like VED or traction into the mix. Don't hesitate!

Title: Re: Spider Veins

Hey:

There is nothing to be concerned too much about with spider veins on ones penis. This simply means that at one time or another they were overextended with blood flow. There appears to be no rhyme or reason for this occurrence. It usually occurs in older people, but can be manifested in the young as well.

So, if it concerns you enough, consult with either your PCP or a specialist about them.

Two reasons-  The scar tissue has forced "superficial veins" to surface.  This is the same reason older people get them because they have hardened tissue in their muscles. The normal veins are blocked beneath the skin and superficial veins surface to provide blood. 2.  The penis been abused when it needed rest and the tissue was over stretched.  Lenny

i never know when i should rest it, because it contradicts the 'bloodflow is good' rule. i just want to do whatever is least likely to do permanent damage.

This is more difficult that you think. It IS NOT easy to find a urologist that is familiar with Peyronies. Many thing they can diagnose it.... very few know how to proactively treat it.

Hello, I am a newbie to this site and I have had Peyronies Disease (I think, as my urologist told me to wait a year and see if it gets worse or better) for a year now. I have never had any pain and I have no erection problems. What I do have is a "dent" on the underside of my penis about halfway down. I cannot feel any lumps, bumps or hardening. My penis curves downward as a result and it has not gotten any worse nor any better. Is there anyone who has similar symptoms and, if so, what are you doing to try and correct it? Is my case a less severe one? Thank you.

Severity can be measured a number of ways. It can be the level of pain, difficulty or interference with sex, and angle or degree of curvature. Since you indicate no pain, no problems with sex, then this may be dependent on degree of curvature. Angles of 20 degrees or less would be considered mild.

I basically posted because im looking for advice, im scared, embarrassed, and yet i want to tell someone and don't know how, what do i do, what advice can someone give so i can get help.

If after all of these years curvature has not developed, it may be the case that erectile dysfunction treatment such a Viagra would suffice. It's definitely worth seeing your doctor about it.d  Having penis problems at any age isn't something that is unheard of, so it won't be anything new to your doctor.
Title: Does this sound like Peyronies ?
Post by: venomx on June 22, 2011, 03:05:28 PM
Alot of the time my penis feels very firm as aposed to soft/spongy.
However, when i go to urinate it returns to a spongy state (temporarily) then gets firm after.
If i get into a hot bath it will get very firm. Cold water tends to relax it.

Also, if i try and consciously relax my penis and squeeze the BC muscle - it returns to a soft (normal) state. but then shortly after will retract and go 'firmflaccid'

When i'm erect if i continue stimulation it is normal and straight, however if i stop touching it sometimes it has a slight bend in it.

So what i wanna know is; does peyronies scar tissue stay constant, or can it relax as mine does at times, then go back to being hardened after ?
Title: Re: Does this sound like Peyronies ?
Post by: Worried Guy on June 22, 2011, 04:04:06 PM
This is what a normal penis does.  Sometimes it is firm and then it can be flaccid.  The scar tissue is likely to be just 0.5cm-2.0cm in size so will not make the whole penis feel either firm or flaccid.  Your penis has probably always been like this it's just that you have never noticed it.  Now you find yourself looking in great detail on a daily basis you start to notice things.

hello  to everyone.
im 20 years old.till about a year ago i was over weight.when i started losing weight my fat pad went down and i saw a slight bend.i did not give it much thought coz i thought it was congenital.then after 8 months i felt my penis  and noticed the little bumps on the inside.penis that pointed towards a scar tissue.
also if i had not felt my penis that day i wudnt be here now.i started to look up peyriones and i have one of the five symptoms.
i have no pain
i get good erections whenever.
i dont get morning wood though.havent for a while.
i have no lumps.
the bend  in penis is very slight downward and very slight to the left.10 deg maybe
also i have firmness in the area where the bend starts all the way upto the head.the firmness goes away if u go down.
i have no decrease in size .always been 6.5inch and 5 inch girth.
also its been there for 8 months so it has not gotten worse.
i wouldnt worry about this if it werent for the firmness and bumps.
also no pain when flaccid.
also guys does the scar look like veins?i have them in top of the penis but i put my finger on them and felt blood going.so does scar tissue have blood flow too??

if u read this then god bless u .please write a response.i m feeling really down.ciao

cooldog,
So which of the 5 symptoms do you think you have. A slight curve is not unusual but doesn't necessarily mean Peyronies.

Also you can't "see" the scar or plaque tissue. These are under the skin.
Title: Re: Question
Post by: retiredinGA on June 23, 2011, 10:52:02 PM
If I were you, I'd see a doctor, preferably a Urologist familiar with Peyronie's Disease to examine you and determine your problem. Some people on this forum are very knowledgable, but none are qualified to determine whether or not you do or don't have Peyronie's based on the details you provided. Just because you aren't waking up wth erections doesn't mean you don't have them during your sleep. All I can tell you in my short experience with this disease, is there was a brief period where I had stinging pains during erections but that went away fairly quickly. Then I had some inflammatory pains over the plaque (scar) area when flaccid. That seemed to go away once I started Pentox and if not, an Advil (NSAID) would help relief this pain. The firmness at the base of my penis seemed to spread over the top in a hard casing (shell). This is under the skin and can not be seen but can be felt. It caused a hinging effect where the plaque ends and when fully erect causes an upward bend to the shaft. There is also some slight wasting on each side at that same location where it looks like the shaft is being dimpled inward. After 3 1/2 months on Pentox, L-Arginine, Ubiquinol and Vitamin E, I see no real improvement but I haven't seen much worsening either. I still get erections and there is no pain with them and no pain while flaccid most of the time now. The vein like object that you claimed had blood flow is probably just a normal blood vessel but again a doctor needs to examine you and determine what is happening. I think I read that the average age of onset for Peyronie's Disease is about 52 and that is my age, but if someone injures their penis, I suppose that is the most likely reason that younger men are affected. I have a genetic predisposition to have Peyronie's because of my Northern European ancestory and I also just developed Dupuytren's Disease of the hand.

cooldog,

Scar tissue can be larger than that. I have a mild case of peyronie's but the ultrasound found an area of thin scar tissue that covered an area perhaps an inch in size.

You should go to a urologist to get checked out. I echo what retiredinGA said.

Iwillis is right.  Many urologists just aren't up to date on peyronies, the extent of their knowledge is if you have ED take viagara. The way pentox and the VED work to help peyronies isn't to complex, but takes some thinking outside of the box that frankly a lot of urologists just don't care to do, they are making big bucks and in it for the money, not to examine your penis and enjoy it.  I've learned more on my time on this forum than I have from the doctors, not that there isn't good ones out there who are thinking outside of the box, but they are hard to find to be honest!

This convo should probably be moved to another topic and out of the PDS Resource Library.

Hello,

Its been a long time that I posted here, and had good recovery in the meantime. Pretty much everything has settled down, just there is one thing that remains for me: my penis and testicles are often very swollen, and testicles look a bit red as well.

Is this yet another sympton I have been asociating with peyronies but has nothing to do with it? Any advise would be most welcome!

Thanks.

No its just that the disease faded out and the angle is gone, its overall a bit thinner than it was but thats not much of a problem. I'm just a bit worried that the sudden swelling might indicate that the disease is flaring up again, also noticed some redness on the shaft today..

pretty sure a 'normal penis' should not retract and contract to the point where all the blood is gone and sensation is lost alot of the time

The swelling seems to be some sort of prelude of a flareup of the disease, or I am very afraid so it is just after I finally left it all behind.

Atm skin is red and I feel some stinging deep inside plus it doesnt feel too comfortable.

Ive taken 2 naproxen in an attempt if this really is a flare-up to stop it right away and early. Or maybe im just too worried. The happiness of it being gone has always been tainted by fear of it returning.
Title: PEYRONIE’S Symptoms & Confirmation
Post by: FranzFan on July 09, 2011, 05:21:33 PM
Hi all,

I'm confused about my Peyronie's. I should say at this point that I have never been formally diagnosed with Peyronie's, however I am fairly certain that I have some variety. My penis bends up and to the right, although the curve is not too drastic (around 45 degrees at worst). However I do not have any clear plaque. Rather, I have this weird swelling that starts about a quarter of the way down my penis (upward facing) and then continues, almost like an enlarged vein (though it is not the colour of a vein), backwards to the base of the penis and then along to the right at right angles, until I can't trace it any further because it kind of goes inside my pelvis. It's difficult to describe, but I hope that does a decent job. It's soft and moves from side to side when pressure is applied to it. Any idea what the hell this is?

Many thanks for any help...

FranzFan -  I suggest that you see a Urologist that treats Peyronies Disease.  Meanwhile, read everything on this forum pertaining to the characteristics of Peyronies Disease.  There is certainly a lot of help and good advice  to be gained from some of the members here.

How long has it been since you first noticed a change, do you experience pain, have you had an injury, what kind of medication have you taken in the past as well as the present?

Peyronies Disease is what it is with different symptoms and I am not sure there is a "variety."  There are many different symptoms. What I have experienced and the way I treated Peyronies Disease, up to and including a penile prothesis implant, has been unlike most of the experiences of other men.  Search your local resources and find a Urologist, keep reading and keep asking questions.

Good luck and God speed.

I dont think its either positive of negative, just a symptom of Peyronies Disease. My veins have gotten much bigger as a result of the constriction caused by the plaque. It makes sense to see larger veins as there is more pressure placed on them by the scar. I have asked my Uro if there is a chance veins could rupture of become a problem and he expressed that something like that is a non issue.

How many of you notice your curvature/deformity when you're flaccid?

The reason I ask is that it seems strange to me that some men seem perfectly normal when they're flaccid, but when erect they see a huge curve, yet others have a curve when flaccid and aren't too bad when erect. It seems strange to me but I'd like to know everyone's experience.
Title: Re: Question for all:

I notice both. I have 4 areas of scarring, two on each side. I have an hourglass affect when flaccid and then a downward 35 degree curve when erect. It also depends on the day, sometimes the scars seem really soft and I notice nothing when flaccid, other days they are rock hard when flaccid and it looks like a mini-hourglass.

What a messed up thing this is eh?
Title: Re: Question for all:
Post by: Woodman on September 26, 2011, 07:24:35 PM
You can't notice it flaccid. Except for one plaque that sticks out a little. If you didn't know it was there someone wouldn't pay attention. Erect is another story. I have a left lateral bend starting about 2 inches from the base with another plaque pulling down about one fourth from the end and a third plaque that just sticks out of the right side.

To add insult to injury I had three surgeries as a kid for Hypospadia " incomplete urethra from birth" so I have scars and a natural bend down to start with from the beginning. Its a train wreck down there!!!  Sometimes I just have to make light of it just to try and stay level headed. Like mercurza says " what a completely messed up thing this is!!!

I have no erect curve but a massive 90 degree twist while flaccid. I was at the Uro's today and he said he can feel something stiffer but not hard like scar tissue. My flaccid twist is much worse after ejaculation, the pain is also increased with flaccid twisting.

He wrote me a script for 8% veraprimil gel and I had to beg him to prescribe me pentox. He said the pentox would do nothing, even after I showed him the Iranian study, and had total faith in the veraprimil to halt the pain. Amazing how the forum totally disagrees with him but I'm gonna do the veraprimil and pentox.

crashbandit:

That's pretty much close to what I experience.  Usually when flaccid I can see a small curve and the hourglass, but erect not so much.  After ejaculation though I get the extremely hard, twisted, 90 degree flaccid that lasts for hours.  It's funny though, if I get an erection without ejaculating, then it goes back to normal, so it seems to me that there is something about ejaculation specifically that causes that effect.
Title: Re: Question for all:

when erect: 45 degree downward curve
when flaccid: curve still slightly noticeable, penis not hanging directly downwards, but curling a little bit (when I stand upright).

Title: Re: Question for all:

I am twisted to the right about 30 degrees when flaccid

Some hour-glassing on the way to full erection

30 degree upward bend when totally hard

After ejaculation the resulting flaccid state directly after is the most deformed
Title: Re: Question for all:

I think it has to do with hormones that are released in the body to signal the body to cease all sexual desire. Hence why it dosen't occur if you jerk off like a mad man and not ejaculate and suffer nowhere near as bad. I have read interesting threads very similar to this problem, Some guys would go hard like a little rock in the flaccid state after ejaculation. Not Cool.

I think it might be related to the pelvic floor muscles as well provoking this "tired state". I'm currently working on releasing my pelvic floor away from my PC muscle (the muscle that stops pee).

Does hourglassing occur when the penis is flaccid or erect?  What causes it?  Is it a constant symptom or does it sporadically?  Does it mean that there is degeneration in the shaft or penile tissue?  Can it occur without plaque or non-Peyronie's conditions?  Can it compromise or weaken erectile function?  Can it be related to suspensory ligament problems?  How is it treated and can daily PDE5 or Pentox help?

Pretty much yes to all of the above.

I have hourglassing where there was an injury.  The scar tissue there doesn't expand as much.  I can notice it when I'm flacid + I can feel where it is.  In some cases it does cause weaker erections as it sort of hinges and there isn't as much blood able to push against that section (it becomes very hardened).  It also sometimes blocks the flow of blood to the rest of the penis.

There are reports on this forum that Pentox helps, especially if you start using it early on.

Ox..
yeah i experienced this situation sometimes... the penis will get full erect at first but the section above the plaque will get weaker if i do jelqing without any lube or lubricant... and this has never happen when i had an oral sex with my gf before, or when i apply some lubricant, it only happen when i do jelqing without any lubricant... any idea why this is happen? is it called as ED? am i going to face this problem during intercourse?

Don't jelq.  Jelqing has been shown to cause ED in lots of people.

You probably won't face that problem but treat your penis well - don't do anything which could damage it further.

Jelqing can cause injuries don't do it.
Title: Lump lower into perineum?
Post by: mercurza on December 08, 2011, 10:15:07 AM
So as many of you know, I have had Peyronie's for 3 years, however, a couple of days ago I noticed a new lump far down almost into the perineum below the base of the penis - this all seems to never end. It is relatively painful with erections. My curve had actually stabilized for about 5-6 months and recently had some more intense sexual activity.

Does any body know of or has experience plaque development this far down?

I don't want to alarm you, as I am pretty new to this condition myself and have more questions than answers myself, but I would get that checked out.

mercurza:

What you are describing it not the usual location for Peyronies Disease plaques, nodules and/or other symptoms. However, since the corporal chambers/tunica goes much further into the body than the portion that protrudes as one looks at it, the symptoms can occur that far in, etc.

Their location makes it almost impossible to "treat" in any way since they are somewhat embedded into the body. I would strongly suggest that you see your uro about this as soon as possible.

what does a plaque feel like? Can it only be felt in flaccid state? or only while erect? or both?

If there is a small "dent" felt in an erect state, is this considered a plaque?
Title: Re: what does a plaque feel like? flaccid or erect?

My understanding is you can feel it when you're flaccid.  The dent is usually caused by the plaque, not something that can be felt when erect.

I want to emphasize - do not self diagnose.  You really, really need to go to a doctor.  Have you set up an appointment?  There are a million things that sound like Peyronies but which aren't.  The internet is NOT a good resource for medical issues - a lot of medical conditions are simply not listed and typing in symptoms is not a good way to get to the right result.

I urge you to talk with a doctor who can give you a straight answer and who has access to lots of training to help you figure this out.

In my case the plaque could be felt in both the flaccid and erect state.

The dent could be from hour glassing or the first stages of multi point peyronies.

You need to find a Male Sexual Function Specialist, not a general practice urologist for a proper diagnosis.

quickguide90012 did you just see a general practice uro or a peyronies disease speciallist? Take some pictures of your penis erect and not erect when you go see your uro. Do you have ed too?  Go see a peyronies disease specialist.

Just an update on this: Went to my uro and based on the physical exam it did indicate another plaque formation in that area. He said that it was definitely unusual but not unheard of as those tissues are susceptible to this type of scarring as well. He said it was most likely due to re-injury after stress at the base due to the trying to maneuver the penis during sexual activity to account for the curvature. Pain has subsided in that area.

Hve any of you guys noticed a hard flaccid penis that turtle heads in when you sit? I cant tell if it is in my head as I am extrememly nervous about it, but my penis feels harder I think when flaccid now and it doesnt hang like it used to. This is all very distressing. -Clark

clarkk,

yes i have! i first noticed it years ago, before i even knew i had Peyronies Disease brewing in my crotch!
i was at a movie theater, it was really cold. i went to the bathroom, and noticed my penile
muscle/tissues were rigid. it scared the hell out of me! it happened one or two more times
and stopped. i did use a traction device last year, and that changed my tissues once again,
and they have been hard/firmer when flaccid. it seems to be getting better now. but when
it does that on its own, you should consider some oral medications -- at least L-Arginine
or L-Carnitine. They are supplements and no prescription required.

I had and have still the hard flaccid penis and small size like it's absorbed partially in the body.
That improved and continue to improve after I begin with 2*400mg daily Pentox.
Proposing to all to give Pentox a try.

Pentox, co q 10 and cialis using anyone of these alone will give me a more elastic and fuller penis.I found this out by running out of a suppliments one at a time.If i stop taking them altogether  i go back to having a tight flaccid penis.Using a ved will keep you in a more narural state also you have to keep all the blood that you can down there. This is what i believe anyway.Should promote healing never the less it will not cure you.

I had this when I first got peyronies, I still have it just a lot less since the pentox is helping big time.  Before I was on pentox my penis was always hard and shrunken, its your body naturally contracting to hear the scar or tissue damage in the penis, unfortunately, we don't want our penis to shrink!  Pentox had the opposite effect and made it softer and bigger, as it hung like it did before my injury!

yeah im sick of this hard flaccid penis.

i get it after every time i ejaculate.

everytime i wake up its F^@$!ng uncomfortable, plus the fact that my penis is numb all the time.

its probably cause of the scar tissue not allowing blood flow to into the penis and out normally. hopefully xiaflex will take care of this.

its also cold alot of the times.

xiaflex seriously needs to hurry up and come out. im sick and tired and exhausted of waiting.
