Title: Xiaflex if under 30 degrees?
Post by: Xavier99 on September 15, 2020, 03:09:09 PM
It seems Xiaflex is more cosmetic if your peyronies is under 30 degrees.. I'm not through the acute phase but I could be on pace to just fall under the 30 degree mark.. Is it possible to get insurance to still cover this? Has anyone had a Urologist that's a little lenient on the degree of curvature for coverage? I'd rather have potential gains with xiaflex than a loss with plication.

Is less than 30 degrees really worth the trouble and pain and possible complications? You can always find a urologist (in the US) who will be "lenient", but if sex is still pretty good with less than 30 degree, I would hold off. I am on third series of Xiaflex to help correct hourglass indentation that made any sex impossible at all. I would never go through this for "cosmetic" reasons or if I could actually still have decent sex. Xiaflex is helping me, but not without a lot of pain and complications.

And I would not even be considering plication at this point. Is this what you have been advised by your doctor/urologist, or are you just reading what others have done? I advise you to be very careful with taking Xiaflex injections and it doesn't sound at all that surgery is indicated in your case.

Yeah I have seen two urologists. One thinks being at 20 degrees Now  5 months in i prob won't need any treatment.. The other says if it bugs me  plication or xiaflex (if I hit 30) ..It's the narrowing that bugs me the most but nothing will bring that back unfortunately. Sex is still ok but I def feel that head going left.  Maybe when the pain goes away from acute stage I won't notice it as much

Shane I think you need to differentiate here. think about it, it just depends on multiple factors

1) there might be curvature in multiple directions leading to rotation effect of the penis and general instability. studies have shown people with curvature in multiple planes have more problems

2) there might be other types of deformities like hour glassing, narrowing or indentations that make the penis less stable, take volume from it etc

3) some men might have rather short penises. when you have 4 inches, a curvature of 20 degrees is much more prominent than on a longer penis. it really does make a difference. and keep in mind many people are in their twenties and have much more rigorous sex where small deformity is already an issue and makes prone for further injury. and 25 degrees is more than enough to cause issues especially when lateral or ventral

To treat the narrowing I'd add low dose nightly generic cialis (2.5-5mg) and VED to help remodel the fibrous plaque causing the narrowing to healthy tissue.

peter123 - I agree with you on all of those.
