Title: Oral Regimen
Post by: bigfish on June 24, 2013, 06:30:02 PM
I posted my initial Peyronies Disease diagnosis on the introduction section two weeks ago and am now writing an update on my symptoms and treatment. It all started in February with pain on erection which lasted only a few weeks, then I noticed a subtle change in shape. I do not have a bend but an hour glass effect which showed up about three months after the pain started. When the change in shape became clear I self diagnosed and visited the "local" urologist and was advised to take 400 units of vitamin E and come back in 6 months, nice guy but probably not the best advice. After reading information on this site I made an appointment and was able to be seen within  a week by a urologist at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington Mass. After an exam and a discussion of the options he prescribed the following:
Pentox 400mg three times a day
L-Arginine 1000mg twice a day
Colchicine 0.6mg daily and increase to twice daily if tolerated
I asked about a VED and he said it's worth a try so after consulting Mr. Old Man I've ordered a single chamber device and its on the way.
So I've had the disease for about 4 months  and have been on meds for about a week here are some observations and thoughts. Once the "hourglass effect" became noticeable it developed quite quickly, I have a pretty good dent on the left side and another dent slightly higher and not quite so much on the right. What I now believe was a congenital upward curvature is gone and my erections are straight and angle slightly to the left. Also quite suddenly the erections have become more difficult, less firm, and don't last as long. The pain has come back slightly and now in the erect and flaccid state. I'm trying to be positive but only 4 months into an active phase that will most likely last for another 12 months I find difficult. As I mentioned the part that concerns me most is how fast things have progressed in just the last 2 weeks. Thought and comment are welcomed.
Regards
BF

Just be patient.
As I have said many times before, all the Peyronies treatments a a marathon, not a sprint.
Please write me a PM with more details (name at least) about the urologist at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington Mass.

Hi Bigfish
I think you are in good hands here on the forum and are heading in the right direction with regime chosen. Being in the active stage of Peyronies you are also in vulnerable position. I believe it is a widely accepted fact that injury to the tunica is a factor in the development of the disease even though a lot of men are not aware of any injury (me included). Having hour glassing with bending and soft erection increases the risk of further injury.
Having been in exactly the same position I have developed a what I call a penile orthosis. It is a device made from silicon that supports and reshapes the penis and reduces friction during intercourse.
I strongly believe that mechanical strain on the tunica extends the time to heal, agreaviates the inflammation, pain and amount of plaque deposited. I have no proof of this except for my own experience. To develop this product further I am looking for men to try it out.
At this stage it is a free service.
