Title: Finally understand what this curve is....Diagnosed
Post by: evankol1 on January 12, 2017, 10:53:02 AM
Hello all on the forum,
I was diagnosed with Peyronies disease back about 3 weeks ago. I went to a urologist who told me I had a 30 degree curve DOWNWARD (was always straight as an arrow) and that most likely it would get worse unless something was done. He looks like he is bowing his head in prayer.....chuckle. Not sure how this happened as it happened over a lot of time and I have been with the same girl for 16 years. She is right at 5' and the doctor told me that her smallness could lead to microtraumas from us having sex and that is why this took so long to develop.  Docs only treatment is traction since he says my curve is not big enough for the other options and other options are dangerous. It seems nipping this is the bud would be best but I am no doctor. So I ordered and received my penimaster pro traction device and am struggling to use the thing. Trial and error have lead to irritated glans and irritated all together. At 30 years old, I never saw this "curve ball" coming (excuse the pun). Since the device is mostly used for people with small glans/peni, I have found little support on the device forums. Most people are looking to lengthen and not straighten. I see others getting other treatments and wonder if I should start looking for a new doc. I am going to put in the hours with the device and see how it goes but I am worried because I do not see how this device is compatible with work. Supposed to wear for 8 hours a day or more. Others talk about no one noticing but trust me!......they will notice mine!. Maybe its because my problem is not size and the device sticks out of my pants of down one leg or the other and is obvious. For smaller peni I could see how it would not be noticeable. Not to mention I waddle when I walk. I have a committed wife who is a psychologist and has helped me greatly through this time. Lucky to have someone that I have been with for 16 years. I am hoping others on this forum are using traction and specifically the penimaster pro. Also maybe people would know if this doctor is offering enough of what I need. I live in northeast PA and would love to find a doctor who truly specializes in this stuff. I feel my life slipping away as I sit in this chair with the extender on (I have taken off of work to try and figure out what to do). Hello and good luck to all. Any help is appreciated and I hope one day I will be able to help someone that is in the same shoes.
Thank you,
Evan

Glad to have you here Evan, I'm 30 as well! I first had symptoms at 18, then it went into the real active phase at 24. I have used my hands to stretch my penis daily for years which has smoothed out my curved considerably. That is always an option, if you can't use a device. Be very careful if you choose to do it of course. Any penile manipulation can cause more damage if not done properly or if done with too much force.

Definitely look into supplements and drugs now. You could definitely take pentox and low dose cialis, or go the supplement route. Pay close attention to your diet. For me it means no alcohol, no refined sugars, basically a anti-diabetes and anti-autoimmune diet. You will likely get improvement if you are committed to treating it from "all angles."

Evan,

If you live close enough to Philly, there are specialists there. You will get use to the Penimaster. It is no different with any other traction device. Each device takes some getting used to. With the Penimaster, you won't strangle your gland like noose-style devices.

Neo,
Thank you for the advice. I am definitely going to look into the Pentox and Cialas. I like that the hand stretch has worked for you too. Good news! I just had a good session with the Penimaster pro yesterday and think it will work as it was much more comfortable. Just a big learning curve. I cant imagine having these symptoms at 18 without my gf for a long time. Must have been tough. Thank you for reaching out. So you have improved significantly. What is you degree? How much change? and this was all from the manual stretching?

Quack,
Thank you as well for the heads up. Can you recommend a doctor. I have a specialist at Geisinger here but don't know if more could be done with another doctor. The only thing the doctor has me on is the PMP traction device. Do you believe I should be receiving more treatment for a 30 degree curve downward?

Thank you both so much for reaching out. It really helps. I will be happy to answer any questions about he PMP especially once I am a little more adjusted to it.

Hey Evan,

Welcome!

I have the Penismaster Pro...as QuackAttack said it took some getting used to and was very frustrated at first. I found that using a small amount of the lubricant not only makes the sucking of the glans into the chamber easier but then more comfortable and holds better. I don't try and get the glans all the way in first pump, but just turn the pump back to the starting position and do another small pump, slowly releasing until all the glans are in...don't stop just half way in as this may the cause a lesion or cut off blood. Lift up the chamber and make sure all the glans are in and neck of the sluice is just sitting on the shaft directly against the glans. Experiment with different sluices (the green and blue spares) if you are not fitting into the chamber properly.

I use the strap when out...an hour or so to work and back is 2hrs right there. The rods are way to bulky and I can't wear with slacks...thick jeans maybe - but I am in Sydney and it was 104 degs yesterday! Then I try and do 2hrs with the rods morning/evening. The valve broke on mine and have sent it back so am doing manual stretching right now. I would suggest you do not do anything too strenuous whilst wearing the strap. I cycled to work with the strap one day and felt it overstretched me. Walking to the bus stop and sitting on the bus is fine.

I found especially with the rods you must go really easy. I use the default rods (no additional rod segments), it works for my length. I warm up first using my electronic pad I built (DIY Hyperthermic Device - Heat Therapy - Peyronies Society Forums (https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,7994.msg80230.html#msg80230)). Then I put the rods on and continue to heat. My penis is never so taught that there isn't any slack in it. And be careful when it falls between your legs if on the sofa that your testicles don't then push in and stretch more. My pad fits neatly under the rods and stays snug against the penis. You can use the warmers/rice sock as suggested of course. After 20 - 30 mins I turn the screw adjusters a turn or two. The idea is that the tissue will be warmed and more pliable. Pay really close attention to how your penis feels when you put it on and when you turn the screws...if you feel anything..most often it is like a kind of itch feeling inside the dick back off immediately. I apply DMSO & Collidial Silver then to help prevent scaring. You may need to stop for several days...you'll know. When I get mine back, happy to post some pictures so you can see what I do. I think there is some merit in the idea of removing the heat before removing the traction device to let the tissue re-set in the new elongated matrix.

I've only used this one, but overall am happy with it. The sluices and dams perish way to fast in my opinion. I've told the manufacturer this and they just said, they wear out...

Please ask if you have any question...

Cheers,
LeeBee

Evan,

Injection therapy with Xiaflex is recommended for 30+ degrees of curve. If you are right at 30 degrees some guys may not touch it. There is Verapamil injection therapy and Verapamil topical. I guess you can see if those are doable. Xiaflex is freaking expensive stuff, but Verapamil is much more cost-sensitive. To tell you the truth, I am not sure I would be doing Xiaflex if I wasn't covered by Tricare at a military hospital. So, I am getting 3-4K per cycle free, so it is worth trying for me because it costs me nothing for trying.

Hey Lee,
Thank you so much for the reply. I am just learning about the heat therapy and that sounds fantastic. Can you tell me other methods that do not involve the build? I am impressed with what you have built but I must admit that I am not good with my hands and would prefer a method that doesn't involve me building it lol. Do they sell contraptions like that. What about heat pads? Also, thank you for the tip about the burning and itching feeling. I have been getting this feeling quite a bit. Especially in the glans itself. I must admit I am ready to get this taken care of and maybe I have gone over board. I have been going 4-5 hours a day in my first week and not sure if this is too much for a beginer. It is uncomfortable at times with the itching and burning feeling but other than that feels fine. Burning and itching feels like it is in the glans itself making me think it is from the vacuum expanding and contracting my dry skin on the glans. We are at 30 degree farenheight so dry skin. Seems like you don't have this problem lol. The rods says I am not doing that much tension but it feels like a lot to me. It does seem like the tension meter or whatever it is goes all over the place depending on the way you are sitting/standing. If you fully extend the penis in front of you horizontally the tension is read at the highest but once it goes between the legs the meter seems to show It at a lower tension reading. Have you have this issue? Which do you believe? I have not used the belt yet. How much does the tension matter? As you said though, I can not use the extender at work. I have been better at getting the glans in using the pump ball like you said but also the hose has worked better for me and allowed me to get it in. You post has been very useful and I would be happy to tell you how things go. Please answer any of these questions you can and let me know you progress. Nice to meet you!

Hey Quack!
Thanks for the heads up. I am willing to put some money into this if I need to. That is how important this is to me and my wife. Do you have a certain doctor in philly you can recommend? Thank you again for reaching out

No problem. Nice to meet you too.

You can use the air activated hand warmers (we can't post product links) or rice in a sock. If you search for electric hand warmer you'll find stuff. Rice in the sock is the cheapest of course but I find starts off too hot and then quickly loses the heat. You can buy clay packs that are meant to keep their heat longer. I haven't tried them.

OK, so discomfort on the glans is "OK"...in that it is most likely irritation and not causing more internal damage. Most likely...you still of course need to be careful. Try using a little more lubricant to help with the dry climes (I'll be in Virginia in a couple of weeks - not looking forward to it! Haha) and I would suggest you dial back the hours per day to start with. I also jumped in with a 4-5 hours and it was too much to get started with. Do an hour a day for a couple of weeks. The glans will get used to it and the irritation should die down. Increase as you feel it OK - I think the only formula is to listen to the body and go slow.

On a more general note, you'll see from the folks on this forum who have had this condition for a long time that patience is key. I hope you do find a quick route to fixing but be prepared to be dealing with this for some time. For example, you'll need to do at least 3 months of traction before seeing permanent results. Some never do. I don't wish to dishearten you, but it's better to have realistic expectations than hopes dashed over and over - not saying you have unrealistic expectations btw...and there are many here who have got good results. Anyway...back to the topic at hand!

With regards to tension of the rods I do not pay any attention to the readings. You'll find posts on here around tension and load and it is good to know you are not overloading, however I just go with the rules I outlined. Well, I am looking for it to stay on the bottom one or two marks and not go all the way up the scale. As you noted in your first post, the manufacturer guidelines are for penis enlargement generally and not someone with an injury. You don't want your dick taught as a guitar string! A little slack, but not sagging is what I am looking for. If you feel like it is too much it most likely is. When I have the rods on I am careful when getting up or sitting down - I generally compress the rods slightly and then carefully release. I tend to only use the rods sitting and ensure the device is sitting between my legs with my testicles not pushing in...with a bit of arranging this is easy enough  :)

Cheers,
LeeBee

Lee,
Your advice has been very valuable. I have slowed down a little bit and let my body adjust to this contraption as you said. I am gonna try the hand warmers since I already have some here. I understand that results may not happen. Just wanna give it my all so that if it does fail it is not due to a lack of effort. Have you heard of good results? I see some posts but not many with success stories with traction. On the traction websites of coarse they have success stories a dime a dozen. Hey if you make it up towards PA, hit me up. Good luck in Virginia. Doesn't sound like it is gonna be fun. Especially with that flight!! Thanks again. I wish you a safe flight and good results with the PMP.

Hey Quack!
Thanks for the heads up on that doctor. I am waiting to hear what my doctor thinks about these reccomendations. If I do not here some positive signs that he will at least put me on Pentox then I will head out to Philly. May be best anyway. I hope to hear more from you and your results. How long have you been with him. What degree you got and is it dorsal or ventral or the other forms? Have you had results with you treatments or has it been too soon. Thanks again Mr. Quack!

Evan,

I am not going to say Pentox won't work for you, but it was completely worthless for me. I started out at 50 dgrees and I am around 40-43 degrees, dorsal. I haven't been able to assess because I am not two weeks out from my 3rd cycle.

ok Quack,
I will see what the doc says when he gets back to me. Was your progress gotten through traction/straitening? I am curious to how you got your degree to change and what processes you used. Some recommend heat and other things besides penile traction. How long did it take to see these results? Again thank you for the help!

Evan,

My progress was through Xiaflex. I have done Traction and VED, as well as pretty much any supplement you can think of.
