Title: Cialis info - patent protection end
Post by: skaterdude on February 12, 2018, 05:26:36 AM
Hello everyone!

My urologist informed me that by the end of last year (2017) the patent protection of Cialis ran out in Austria and Germany (maybe even whole Europe). Thus, official generic medicaments containing Tadalafil (instead of alternative agents like Sildenafil and the like) are available now for a much lower price than Cialis.

To give you an idea, I was prescribed "Lanrektan" which costed about 80-90 Euros compared to Cialis for 400 Euros for the same packaging size.

I wanted to share this info, since these kind of things are not really announced anywhere.

Thanks for the info! I believe the generic tadalafil is now available in the UK as well.

It is available now Rich

I changed to generic as I thought I'd save a few ££ doing so. I take 2.5mg every night as part of my Peyronies Disease 'treatment'

I know this is going to sound unbelievable but the generic did not have the same effect on me. Having a Pharmacological background I was stumped .... I just cannot think of a reason. After being back on Cialis for a week, all back to normal

??? ???

It happens, there are people that swear that they have to take a certain manufacturer for effectiveness.  they don't test genetics the same way they test the patented meds.  They only have to prove chemical equilivence not bio equilivence.  There are a lot of other inert ingredients in a tablet, fillers and powders that help it stick together, those can be different, which can lead to difference in absorption.  Normally it's not an issue, but occasionally people claim they can tell it.

Good to know the generic is available. Strange it didn't have the same effect on you Gutted. By the way, I found Morrisons supermarket good on price for the Cialis although I'm buying 5mg.

I thought generic manufacturers did have to prove bioequivalence. How stringent the checks are though ...
