Title: Alk-5 reverses the fibrosis of peyronies (TGF-b1 suppression)

Activin Receptor-Like Kinase 5 Inhibitor Attenuates Fibrosis in Fibroblasts Derived from Peyronie's Plaque (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3272556/)

Anti-ageing drug? Can Alk5 kinase inhibitor make you younger? (http://www.news.com.au/technology/science/a-new-anti-ageing-drug-could-prevent-diseases-associated-with-growing-older/story-fnpjxnqt-1227384380776)

I think AL5-kinase has the potential to cure peyronies'. Lots of promising articles and studies about it as of recent, its DSMO soluble and can easily be purchased online. It repairs aged tissue to its youthful state?!

Very interesting study.

Smad3 gene is certainly a target for Peyronie's.

Many substances inhibit Smad3 gene and downregulate Tgf-beta, such as green tea, proanthocyanidins from pine bark, grapeseed extract, cinnamon, blueberries, chocolate etc.
Here is a study on Grape Seed Extract reducing TGF-beta through smad3 inhibition, Grape seed extract attenuates arsenic-induced nephrotoxicity in rats (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3861237/)

I have been taking Pine Bark / GSE along with the other supplements and eating bowls and bowls of blueberries for some time now exactly for this purpose.

Also ellagic acid from ANY berries effect smad3 and reduce TGF-Beta.

I wonder how we can, or when we could ever get our hands on that drug.

NeoV - Have you seen any progress or results from GSE? I'm considering taking GSE and Serrapeptase to halt plaque/fibrosis progression, with the hope that it could reverse some damage (in a limited dosage however, as both can decrease blood pressure).

They are both good things to take, I'm a big fan of GSE or Pine Bark, since they are basically identical. Both are very high in proanthocyanadins which increase nitric oxide and do a range of other things.

I have a hard time telling if they helped me or not, but in general it would seem so. I would certainly recommend them.

This is interesting, similar, studied and proven.

Jim,

I am contemplating contacting the professors in your study.

Before I do... Do you know if the modified protein they use for liver fibrosis is effective for other forms of fibrosis. It states in the article that it inhibits the RSK pathway. Do we know if scarring in the rest of the body is created through the RSK pathway, or is this unique to liver fibrosis?

These are some of the questions I may ask them if I can get in contact with them. The real trick would be how to acquire this inhibitory peptide.

FriskyDingo, I do not know. I just happened upon that the other day and thought I would share. Peyronie's gets put on the back burner because it is not life threatening it seems.

Jim

The article is from December 27, 2007 and:
QuoteAll control mice had severe liver fibrosis, while all mice that received the RSK-inhibitory peptide had minimal or no liver fibrosis
Something happened in the last 9 years? They made trials on humans?
Or is just an other research for someone to get his doctorate.

James

I think people with peyronies are just going to be named the most healthiest people on the planet. lol.
