Title: I'm 17 and might have Peyronie's disease
Post by: Nickpyah on January 19, 2014, 04:40:32 AM
Age? 17 (18 in 2 months)
What did your medical doctor conclude? In the works of getting appointment set up.
How long have you had symptoms? Unsure.
What are your symptoms? (see below)
What treatments have you tried and what were the results? Nothing, have yet to be diagnosed.
Do you have insurance or means to get medical treatment? Yes.
where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease? Unhappy with my penis curvature, just trying to do what's best for me.
Are you in a relationship? Yes, but haven't had sex. Not like I would take them along to the appointment.

Symptoms of Peyronie's disease that I know of:
-I'm not sure if I have Plaque - don't believe so
-I do have an upward curvature (Around 60-degree curvature I believe, not sure exactly)
-No penile pain
-Not sure if I have erectile dysfunction - Don't think so. Maybe hard to gauge since I haven't had sex? Believe I can control for the most part during masturbation.

I have heard per the peyroniesassociation website that the disease usually occurs in 2 phases. Acute (Active) Phase
The first phase can last up to about 18 months and is when most of the changes in the penis occur. Chronic (Stable) Phase
The chronic, or stable, phase begins within 12-18 months after symptoms first appear. Which is why I would like to get it checked out at the onset of Peyronie's disease if I have it. I'll never know if I have it unless I go to a physician and get diagnosed besides my degree of curvature is not something I am happy with, it also could be more then around 60 degrees. I know am young however I've read Peyronie's disease can occur in men of any age.

What I plan on doing is talking about it with my doctor. Then they may or may not advise me to see a urologist. However, I plan on doing this when I turn 18 (2 months). Prior to visit I plan to take photos of my erect penis (with my iphone I presume). The biggest embarrassment is telling my parents which is why if they find out then it's through the doctor and not me (as of right now). I don't really have open relations with my parents about stuff like this it's just never been talked about really.

Looking for advice, anything really. I have heard getting Vitamin E supplementation per wikipedia can't hurt.

Thanks,
Nick

Hey Nick,

I'm sorry you are dealing with this at such a young age. I can't tell if you are describing a high degree of congenital curvature or Peyronies. When did your curve appear? Let us know!!

Unfortunately your doctor and even the uro that your doctor may recommend are unlikely to be able to properly diagnose you. My doctor had no clue, and my urologist said I did not have Peyronies at age 18. I would love to go back to him and punch him in the face.

The thing we all recommend here is that you have to see a Peyronies specialist, not a regular urologist. There is a huge difference. Please let us know the results of your visit.

Hi Nick

I agree with NeoV. It may be congenital curvature and not Peyronies, but you have to see a good urologist.
And yes, take some photos with you to the doctor. It was a post on the forum on how to measure curvature but can't find it.
Hope someone will jump in regarding the curvature measurement and also post it in the library.
In my opinion the vitamin E is waist of time.
