Title: Xiaflex for small plaque (causing hourglassing) undetecteable by ultrasound
Post by: popopo on February 25, 2019, 09:32:17 AM
Hello people,

As some of you know I have been dealing with peyronies like symptoms for a couple of years now and haven't been able to succesfully treat it. I am on pentox and feel it's the only thing that gives some relief. My penis isn't bent like most of you, but has changed shape and size mostly around the glans and I have what is described as "hourglassing". On ultrasounds there is no scar tissue to be seen only venous leak, but urologists have felt some scar tissue with their hands. I'm wondering if someone like me could benefit in any way from xiaflex injections. What would they inject it in if the ultrasound can't find one big plaque? Is it at all possible without causing further damage? And last but not least, who is the best doctor (prefereably in europe) to get this treatment? I hope you guys can answer some of my questions.

Tough situation. Some doctors (not mine) from what I have read on here, don't do ultrasound. They do it by "feel" to find location of the plaque. I am not sure of your insurance, but based on what I know, for most insurance companies to cover the very expensive injections, you have to have at least a 30 degree bend. Which, doesn't sound like you have. You can certainly pay out of pocket if you choose. But again, these injections are costly. And they do come with risk. One that I personally experienced. I'd personally do the research to find a qualified urologist who knows and specializes with peyronies to see what his recommendation would be. Lastly, I would ask how this is affecting you? Are you able to have sex painlessly? I mean...if you are able to function as normal, I am not sure I would put myself through these injections if I didn't have to. Just my two cents.

If scar tissue cannot be found, there's no where to inject the Xiaflex.  If you've stabilized after two years I'd consider just doing something that may help w the hourglassing such as VED and/or traction.
