Title: Hello - wife of 52 yr male - looking for info/support and names of doctors
Post by: Moxie on October 02, 2018, 03:20:19 PM
Hello, I'm glad to find this forum which has so much helpful information and supportive spirit.  My husband is 52 and was diagnosed approx 4-5 years ago.  He tried several rounds of the injection treatment soon after diagnosis, but there was no real effect and the curvature has worsened in the 2-3 years since the last treatment.  His urologist is familiar with the condition, but has suggested we find a specialist.  Does anyone have experience with experts/specialists in New England?  We live in Maine but think we probably need to go to Boston for more experienced doctors.  I'd like to find the best doctor in that area.    Thanks!!

In Boston there is Dr. Connors who they speak highly about here.........
Good luck.......

Moxie,  Welcome to the forum.  I hope you find the support and the answers you are looking for.

the link to the doctors list is https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,4063.0.html    This is not an exhaustive list.

I did not see any listed for main but you could post in that board to ask if any members know of any they would recommend and see if you get any response.

Moxie;
It may be too late but, when choosing a doctor, please ensure that you can afford three or more trips to wherever your surgeon is.  There will be an appointment for assessment, one for surgery, one for follow up and maybe at least one or more for more follow up or trouble shooting.  I know of a guy that had surgery and is now having problems and he can't afford to go see the surgeon AND, most of these doctors will NOT work on someone else's patients. :)

Hi Moxie;  I hope you have found a doctor to work on your husband.  I forgot before, to suggest, that you try a VED.  Pumping it up until it's still comfortable but one more pump would make it uncomfortable.  Leave it on for 30 minutes.  Try this 3 times a day (4 of he can swing that).  This is a cheap, safe way to assist the other things a doctor may do.  There are people out there who disagree, and that's OK but I can tell you that for me, the VED did a lot to augment the cycling I was doing for my implant.  I am bigger now that ANY time in my life... longer and thicker. My wife and I love it.  It will be two years on December 14th and every time I walk by  a mirror naked, I can't help stopping to admire it.  I simply cannot express enough my thanks to my urologist and plastic surgeon for their dedication, skill and determination to right the many wrongs that had been committed by some of their incompetent colleagues and finally my wife who put up with everything for 28 years.  Try the VED, you will love it.  You don't need to spend $350 for the deluxe model, I only paid $60 :)
