Is this a business thing or safety thing?
Sounds like solely business.
This is bad news as I was thinking of paying for a few injections before I went for surgery. Now I don't have that option.
I rang the UK distributors this morning and they confirmed it was a 'commercial' decision not related to safety or effectiveness. I can't really understand it as they were selling it for a fortune here. The person I spoke to said they were all gutted by the manufacturers decision. Not that that helps anyone outside of the USA.
Can anyone let me know how much it costs to have an injection in the USA if you pay yourself?
Cheers, B
I hear verapramil has had some success w injections (not as much as Xiaflex) but is MUCH cheaper. See that section in forum. Xiaflex in US is VERY expensive.
Dr. Eid for ex. charges me $1000 to do the injections (2 for each round). My insurance covers the drug itself. I think if I remember correctly it is something like 4-5,000 per round if you paid out of pocket.
Oh Wow!
That is a painful price - so basically around $5000/6000 for 2 injections including the doctor and the drug?
B
Yup. Call 1-800-743-2382 to see if you qualify for their copay assistance program. I'm sure it would be cheaper than that if paying all cash.
Thanks for the idea but I doubt they would cover people from outside the USA. Back to the drawing board... Bob
