Platelet Rich Plasma Injection
« on: April 07, 2018, 03:29:50 PM »

Has anyone had experience with platelet rich plasma injections or P-shot? I've seen some people say it works wonders and others say it's a scam.

Have a lot of information on Priapus (PRP) shots on this board.
You may want to read to get an idea

The forum members experience is not positive, but for sure is positive for the PRP providers 8)

Was also a heated debate on the subject here:

We're not leveraging this platform to maximum effect. We need to find a way to gather together individual assessments of various treatment modalities so that we can respond to questions of the kind raised here more responsibly. I've read through enough positive evaluations of PRP in relation to peyronies on this very forum to make me at least pause and question the veracity of James1947's comments. But perhaps I'm mistaken and negative evaluations of PRP greatly outnumber positive evaluations. It is, however, unreasonable for us to think that newcomers to the site 5 -10 years from now will be able to sift through all of the material and insights we've produced here and attempt to draw actionable insights from verbal statements alone. We need some hard numbers here: the last anonymous survey we took and which included a population of n individuals demonstrated the following.... etc.,etc.etc. God knows urologists are in no special hurry to gather this information. Everything we say and do and experience on this forum is for all intents and purposes anecdotal ... but that needn't be entirely the case. We can nudge our way toward insights that are more quantitative. Just imagine, for example: the number 1 online forum for this disease surveyed a thousand men over a period of so many months/years  80% of whom claimed that Pentox helped mitigate their peryonies symptoms, etc., etc. I'm just proposing a hypothetical case but you get my drift. I hate listening to urologists tell me that there's no science behind pentox and that it amounts to little more than groping at straws. It's hard to reconcile those affirmations with what I've experienced personally and what I've read on this forum over the past almost decade now. One wonders what would constitute robust evidence especially given a disease as desperately heterogenous as our own.

Research has shown that treating Erectile Dysfunction would be a 15billion dollar market IF men actually went and did something about their problem. But we don't. This forum represents a rare repository of men who are intrinsically motivated to do something. How many of you have been contacted by medical practices or research labs to participate in peyronies related studies/surveys in the last 10 years. Access to the knowledge found here --- detailed breakdown of our subjective experience of this disease -- is hard to come by. This is the age of Big data. Well, here are so many data points. Let's marshall them. None of us are getting any younger and there's no guarantee of progress -- it's hard-won despite the universal rhetoric to the contrary according to which all business entities everywhere are relentlessly innovating.

Excellent post Lesplen :) Enjoyed every sentence you wrote.
I made a topic sticky that everyone can read the results of our forum PRP trial:
PRIAPUS/PRP Injections Trial (forum) - Peyronies Society Forums
Sadly, very few people continued to update, I mean the successful PRP posters, very few new PRP treatments posts, so after two years  I stopped updating the list

An other problem is that if you want to make such a data base everyone have to post in a certain format. It is not happening! Everyone posts as he just wishes.

It was very time consuming to correct people posts on the bellow topic for example, that suppose to be such a data base/research so I give up:
FORUM XIAFLEX RESULTS (Results only, not a discussion board) - Peyronies Society Forums
Also very rarely someone posts and updates the topic. Last update 27 January 2018. How many members posted about doing Xiaflex during this period on other topics? Many

Done myself a few such "researches" on the forum and also asked a few times volunteers for such projects. Got ZERO volunteers.
Many on the forum have advises how to make the forum better, especially for new members to find what they are searching for, but again, NO volunteers to do that.
So here we are :)

I unlocked the topic so members can update themselves.
Hope this will help

When I update my xiaflex results I’ll move it to the section you’re referring to.  Thanks for the work you do!  For those of us who are not tech savvy, it’s sometimes difficult to negotiate these sites.

Tsanchez

I am not a computer expert, tech savvy maybe somehow, but I am 70 year old  :)
Everyone can if have time (in my opinion) to manage a simple data base
Just need to invest time :)

I can't see PRP being that effective by itself, although I've heard of cases (on this forum) where it did. The best treatment I've seen adds stem cells to the prp along with shockwave therapy; might as well use the combo of all three if you're going to go for it. That's most likely what I'm going to do.
